Albion Way, Brent is a stunning new 15-floor accommodation building for 245 students on behalf of Watkin Jones. Dorplan supplied a total of 484 doors with ironmongery using our exclusive ‘Expa-fit’ system which reduces fitting time by around 30% per door.Most of the doors, in a beautiful crown-cut oak veneer, were bedroom entrance doors. These needed to be specially recessed to accommodate access control locks, for which Dorplan worked alongside access control company TLJ. Also part of the project were fire compartment corridor doors and doors for the ground-floor communal area. All doors were matched to meet the design brief and were delivered in phases over 6 months.This project is the latest in a series of buildings Dorplan has supplied for Watkin Jones and we are looking forward to our next project with them, a new student accommodation building in Wilder Street, Bristol.Watkin Jones project manager, Elliott Robinson, said: “Rob and the team at Dorplan have been great to deal with from start to finish. Dorplan supplied over 250 internal timber doorsets for Bailey Lodge Care Home in Saffron Walden, a new 70-bed care home due to open in Spring 2026.Designed to support comfortable day-to-day living, Bailey Lodge includes shared spaces such as an on-site café, cinema room, and hair and beauty salon, creating a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff.All internal doorsets were manufactured specifically for use in a care setting, balancing safety, durability, and ease of use in a busy assisted living environment.Dorplan’s fire doorsets are independently third-party accredited through recognised certification schemes such as BM TRADA Q-Mark and Certifire, providing reassurance that essential safety and performance standards are met.The doorsets were primed in Dorplan’s in-house spray shop, before being finished on site in the charming green tones seen within the imagery.

Dorplan were proud to be part of this project to turn an historic ruin into an iconic new hotel. The former prison dates back nearly 250 years to when it was built by prisoners of the Napoleonic wars.We supplied around 400 doorsets with performance as striking as the lemon yellow paint.Working closely with the contractor and the architect, we produced a range of doorsets that included concealed safety features, fire ratings and acoustic performance, along with design features such as inlaid beading and grooving to create a panelled look.In some cases original doors were taken and given a new lease of life by our skilled craftsmen.The results speak for themselves in this sympathetically-restored building.

The Broxbourne School is a brand-new school boasting first class facilities – including, of course, Dorplan doorsets! FD30 and FD60 doors included a range of acoustic ratings from 30 up to 45 dB. Specialist vision panel glass was both fire-resistant and insulating, protecting school staff and students from heat as well as fire and smoke. The sports hall doors protect users of the room, being completely flush with no protruding ironmongery or beading.

Dorplan supplied 271 timber doorsets for Avery Healthcare’s new care home in Downham Market.Situated close to Dorplan’s headquarters, this project is part of Avery’s ongoing expansion of high-quality residential care facilities across the UK. The care home features well-appointed communal areas and resident rooms designed to provide a comfortable and welcoming environment.This project involved the manufacture and supply of high-quality doorsets specifically designed for a modern retirement living scheme. The doors were tailored to meet both the practical and aesthetic requirements of a care home environment, ensuring safety, accessibility, and visual harmony. The scope included FD30 and FD60 fire-rated doors for enhanced fire protection, access-controlled locks for resident security, and wider door leaves to accommodate wheelchair users and ensure ease of movement throughout the facility.Project Outcome:The completed care home looks excellent and reflects Avery Healthcare’s high standards for quality and finish. Feedback from the site team was very positive, and Dorplan’s representative visited post-completion to confirm satisfaction with the installation. Channelsea House is a development of 72, one and two-bed, newly converted apartments located in Stratford. A superb renovation featuring a new facade and landscaped garden with secure underground car parking.A desirable open plan layout comprises the kitchen, dining and living space, offering a multi-purpose family and entertaining space. The interiors are fresh and modern, with both sleek and functional design details.The use of Dorplan oak doorsets brings a atmosphere of warmth to contemporary living spaces.

Dorplan worked on the development of a new ambulance healthcare centre for the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) in Ipswich.The facility serves as a key hub for ambulance teams, providing a base for vehicles and staff who are on standby to assist the public where needed. The project required robust, high-quality internal timber doors to meet the functional and aesthetic needs of a modern healthcare environment.Dorplan successfully supplied and delivered 82 internal timber doors, complete with high-quality ironmongery. The package included both single and double FD30–FD60 fire-rated doorsets, incorporating fob access systems for enhanced security and convenience.Project Outcome:The project was completed successfully, with very positive feedback from the client. Both the site manager and project manager expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the doors and overall service. The customer was so pleased with the finished product that they invited Dorplan to visit the completed site to see the installation first-hand.

Dorplan manufactured 44 timber doorsets for the Grantham Practice project, comprising FD30 fire-rated doorsets and 35dB acoustic doors.Located in the heart of Clapham, Grantham Practice is a refurbished NHS GP surgery featuring bespoke-sized doorsets designed to suit the existing structural openings. Three distinct Formica laminate finishes were selected to provide clear visual differentiation across various areas of the facility.Due to the nature of the refurbishment, existing structural openings varied across the site. To ensure full compliance and accuracy, Dorplan conducted a detailed site survey to verify all opening dimensions and conditions. This data informed the manufacture of custom-sized doorsets, ensuring correct tolerances and alignment with the existing building fabric.The site survey and tailored manufacturing process provided assurance to the client that all products would arrive on site ready for efficient installation and integration into the completed scheme. Irene House in Balham was a 1940s office block, formerly occupied by the DWP, converted to offer 77 1/2-bedroomed apartments, with a roof extension to create an additional 7 homes. Amenities including a residents’ club house with private dining and work space facilities were included.The project delivered a distinctive transformation, offering contemporary looks that also incorporated many art deco elements inspired by the building’s original interior.Dorplan supplied more than 400 factory-finished doors, delivered in 5 phases to support project schedules across the 6 floors of the building. The doors had a range of features in keeping with the ‘contemporary art deco’ look. Ladder-style feature grooves and square architraves were complemented by period-style ironmongery to give an incredibly stylish result.The majority of the doors were FD30 or FD60 fire and smoke doors. The fire-rated PAS24/SBD apartment entrance doors were additionally acoustic-rated. All Dorplan’s fire and security doors come with the peace of mind offered by 3rd-party certification.

External factors adversely impact many projects and never more so than this primary school redevelopment, delayed first by the discovery of Iron Age and Roman remains on the proposed site that necessitated a full investigation. Then Covid struck, causing global upheaval.We worked with the contractor’s project team to produce a flexible schedule for the doors, which resulted in a smooth delivery of doorsets.These boasted a variety of safety and performance features, in a mix of styles and sizes such as NFR, FD30 and FD30S, oversize doors, double swing doors, doors with/without vision panels and with/without acoustic properties of up to 35dB. Finger guards were supplied on some doors.

We’re proud to parade our work on this project, which transformed a former army barracks into a stunning development of new homes.Dorplan supplied nearly 1,000 doorsets for the Millbrook project, in Mill Hill, North London.This complex project had it all – the doors were very varied and the size of the project also changed over time, ending up around 30% bigger than originally anticipated. It was delivered in 26 lots over the course of a year.It included fire and smoke PAS24E entrance doorsets in oak laminate, some of which were specially designed to incorporate electronic access control and failsafe mechanisms, and all the interior doors, including bespoke co-ordinating wardrobe doorsets.A particular feature on many of the doorsets was the mitred and Hoffmann-jointed architraves, to offer increased accuracy and speed up installation.Detailed planning at the start and strong partnerships between the Dorplan and contractor teams made all the difference and the project was delivered smoothly and on time.

This former police station has been transformed into a development of lovely apartments. Once the site of investigations into notorious criminals, such as the Black Hand Gang, it is now a building where the tasteful decor speaks of calm and repose.Drawing inspiration from nearby parks, the design for the apartments was characterised by neutral tones and natural materials. The result was to generate a quiet, peaceful elegance to the new homes.These 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, and studios, are ideally situated across from Victoria Park, with Finchley Central Station on the Northern Line just a short distance away, making it just thirty minutes from central London.Dorplan’s stylish doorsets, with feature grooves and stunning matt black ironmongery, beautifully complemented this design and boasted a variety of features, including bespoke sizes, fire and smoke performance and PAS24 security.

A project driven primarily by design, Dorplan manufactured and supplied over 200 bespoke doorsets in extremely aesthetic finishes. The doors were veneered in diagonal stitching designs and the full doorsets were stained in ebony. Door types ranged from double security PAS24 type apartment entrance doors through to oversized sliding pocket door systems. We contributed heavily on the design and technical aspects of this project, giving our expert advice to ensure the client’s needs were fully met.

This Build to Rent development is 214 new homes – a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments, including 36 affordable homes. The scheme is the first operational Build to Rent project in the town and is close to the shopping and hospitality of the centre of Leatherhead, as well as the River Mole Nature Reserve and Leatherhead Park.For the prestigious new build project with Watkin Jones and their client, Get Living, Dorplan embarked on an exceptional journey of innovation, meticulous design, and unwavering commitment to quality assurance. Urbanest Westminster Bridge sets a new standard in student living in London. Situated on the banks of the Thames directly overlooking Westminster Bridge, urbanest Westminster Bridge offers spectacular views of many of London’s iconic buildings such as The Shard, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey.
