OVERVIEWThis project we provided 3 of our Series 2 non penetrating platforms with Soundshield acoustic screens to effectively house a range of HVAC equipment on the roof. The equipment internally acts as ballast for the enclosures to cope with wind loading. This innovative solution was seamlessly integrated with the surrounding screens to effectively conceal all plant equipment visually and acoustically. The raised mesh deck, upon which the units are mounted, offers 70% free area. These systems allowed the main contractor to continue and complete the building up to the final roof stage without having to worry about secondary steelwork for the plant enclosures which would have required weatherproofing and taken significantly longer to install. In contrast, these modular, pre-engineered, kit-form systems arrive on-site in crane-liftable packs and can be installed within just a few days with no roof penetrations.Key features- Series 2 freestanding deck to support the units with no roof penetrations.- Soundshield acoustic panels providing a 28db reduction.- Conforms to BS EN 516 2006 and BS EN 1090-3 2008InstallationThe installation was successfully completed in just 3 days by a dedicated team of 3. Thanks to the flat-packed modular solution and detailed instructions, the entire process proceeded seamlessly, with no issues of missing parts or product waste.DesignThe design, developed by our in-house design team, featured a non-penetrating deck system specifically engineered to support the equipment without compromising the integrity of the roof structure. The Soundshield screens are imperforate, acoustically reflective panels which fix to the back of the aesthetic finish and create a barrier achieving a weighted sound reduction of 28dB, maintaining both functionality and aesthetics. The design was meticulously tailored to meet all roof load requirements and plant equipment specifications, ensuring compliance with technical standards. Additionally, it allowed for an impressive 70% free airflow through the plant deck, supporting optimal ventilation and system performance while preserving the visual appeal of the installation.
