OVERVIEW
OVERVIEW
On this excellent Student Accommodation scheme, Configured Platforms supplied the main contractor, Zenit Construction, with two Series 3 platform systems with Standard Screen, slatted aluminium finish, Marine Grade Powder Coated to suit the coastal environment, and to colour-match the building’s façade, on the North & South Block. This system was provided to mount and visually screen off the rooftop HVAC condenser units on both buildings. The Series 3 platform is the ideal solution for effectively concealing mechanical services without the need for roof penetrations, whilst enhancing, rather than compromising, on visual appeal. To accommodate the timber frame structure of the buildings, our platform base rails were supplied with 80mm spreader plates to further spread the weight evenly across the whole plant area and roof surface.
Key features
- Series 3 platform rooftop mounting solution
- Integrated spreader plates to mitigate any risk of point loading onto the roof surface
- Standard Screen slatted finish, Marine Grade PPC to suit the coastal environment, and to visually conceal the plant equipment
- All-aluminium system with stainless steel fixings.
- Conforms to BS EN 5162006 and BS EN 1090-32008.
- Once installed – it is covered by a 20year warranty
Installation
The entire installation was completed by the Zenit Construction team in just a week, thanks largely to the modular design of the system, and the easy to follow, assembly instruction manuals, provided with the kit. The prefabricated components were manufactured offsite in our factory in Leeds and delivered to site, ready for rapid assembly, significantly reducing onsite construction time and labour requirements. This modular approach not only streamlined the installation process but also minimised disruption to ongoing site operations. The result is a fully functional, pre-engineered, rooftop solution that delivers on structural integrity, operational efficiency, and environmental performance, all within a remarkably short project timeline.
Design
This solution enabled the contractor to fully complete the building structure and finish the roof without delays or the need for secondary steelwork to be craned in. Unlike traditional methods that require roof penetrations or complex structural integration, our freestanding, all-aluminium platform system supports HVAC equipment independently. The continuous perimeter screens provided a clean, uniform aesthetic while effectively concealing the rooftop units on both buildings.
