OVERVIEW

OVERVIEW

On this excellent project Configured Platforms supplied Morgan Sindall Construction with 370m² of Series 1 platform with Soundshield backed Standard Screens which were polyester powder-coated to a number of different colours to align with the architectural and planning requirements. The platform was designed to suit the saw-tooth roof finish, with a clamp arrangement at every 600mm along the roof seams and with the platform wedges on every seam at 400mm centres, meaning the whole platform remains non-penetrating whilst clamped to the roof. The platform was installed to support the placement of a large amount of VRF condensers and duct work.

Key features

- Series 1 platform for a secure, non-penetrating deck to suit the roof design,

- Standard Screen finish polyester powder-coated to multiple colours to align with the planning and architectural packages.

- Soundshield acoustic sheets creating a solid reflective barrier achieving a Rw of 28dB.

- Guardrail system and access walkway to ensure safety and ease for maintenance teams.

- Conforms to BS EN 5162006 and BS EN 1090-32008.

Installation

The installation was impressively quick and straightforward, thanks to the pre-engineered modular design. The entire enclosure is supplied to site in pre-fabricated, crane-liftable packs, ready to be installed by hand in quick succession. This minimizes on-site cutting and waste, enabling faster installation, reduced health and safety risks, and improved sustainability.

Design

To address the potential noise concerns the high-performance 2.4m high acoustic screens were installed on 3 sides of the enclosure to mitigate sound transmission to surrounding residential areas, contributing to a quieter environment. Internally the screens where utilised by the Mechanical Engineers to support their pipework and cable trays. An integrated walkway outside of the acoustic enclosure with Guardrail and an access door was also included to allow safe and convenient entry, to the rest of the roof, for maintenance personnel. The platform was designed to suit the roof finish without any penetrations to the roof surface, reducing the risk of leaks.
