And offering service users control over their own living space by issuing a harmless key fob also met the trust's requirements of promoting service user independence and restoring dignity.

The Ascent Aluminium fixed ladder system was specified to create a permanent safe access route to the roof via a roof access hatch at Sheffield University Hoops were provided throughout for fall protection and the ladder was designed to BS 4211:2005 + A1 2008 and was manufactured in accordance with CE 1090 factory production control procedures. To assist the user when exiting on to the roof surface a ladder up post was included within the design. The ladder up post provides something for the user to grab hold of when both climbing out of & into the hatch, providing an additional level of user security.

record uk was chosen to manufacture and install a six metre wide entrance solution to Aston Martin’s prestigious new showroom in Newcastle. The entrance was required to be robust, safe, quiet in operation and stylish in appearance. record installed two 3000 mm wide, clear toughened glass, STA 20 sliding doors. Their secure, elegant and efficient operation is guaranteed by a self-controlling microprocessor which continually monitors inputs, including from the three safety sensors, and adjusts performance accordingly. In the event of a power failure the doors can be programmed to remain secure or to open to allow emergency access.

The Ascent Up and On step unit was specified to create a safe means of access between different roof levels external to the roof of a city centre residential block. The building is has a single ply membrane roof covering and it was the clients desire not to penetrate the roof; hence the step over / stair unit is supported on rubber spreader feet which provide a non-penetrative support solution. The stair unit is designed in accordance with BS EN ISO 14122-1:2001 + A1:2010 and Building Reg Part K:2013 and manufactured following 1090 factory production control procedures.

Surespan supplied a number of circular dome rooflights with triple layers to The Key, situated in the new Science Central development at Newcastle University. These large 1500 (49”) and 2000 (79”) diameter polycarbonate domes feature triple layers providing a U-value of 1.8 W/m²K. The rooflights were supplied with electric opening actuators to allow ventilation to control the temperature of the fabric structure. Surespan Dome skylights were specified due to their high sustainability and small impact on the environment. The triple layers ensure compliance with energy-saving requirements and offer excellent air tightness.

As part of a major Heritage Lottery funded refurbishment project to transform Hull’s Grade II* listed Maritime Museum, Limelite Whitewall One Coat Plaster was chosen as part of a damp proofing system for the converted basement. The moisture resisting properties of the plaster makes it ideal for use with cavity drain membrane systems and tanking systems in underground and humid environments. By helping to control humidity it would protect museum artifacts while in storage . The tough, impact resistant finish would also help protect the walls from accidental damage when items were moved in and out of storage.

The design of the new University of Gibraltar building emphasises transparency and openness while retaining the integrity of the historic structure. Glazed facades and glass balustrades are positioned in striking contrast with original structures such as brick vaults. Fusing a historic fabric with modern design elements presented numerous challenges. It required close cooperation between Q-railing and the architect. In all the glass balustrade systems, they needed to achieve a demanding resistance parameter, in accordance with British Standards. Q-railing provided the Easy Glass Pro structural glass railing and constructed and tested the balustrade, certifying values required by Building Control.

A throwback to One Angel Square today; a striking office building in Northampton and winner of the RIBA East Midlands Award in 2018. The vertical copper fins on the façade were chosen to prevent overheating whilst contributing to the stunning aesthetics. Renson’s high airflow 481 louvres were supplied with motorised dampers which could be controlled via the building management system (BMS) and helped to regulate the airflow. In addition to this, our continuous louvre system, Linius was required, with the highly technical L.066V blade being chosen for its significant weather protection (Class A up to 1m/s).

Acting as an effective environmental barrier between the internal and external environments, the dormakaba KTV revolving door limits warm air loss and cold air intake, helping to reduce the building’s energy consumption and subsequent expense. The KTV ATRIUM revolving door systems are ideal for installation in entrance areas where effective environment control and elegant aesthetics are desired.

Eagle have completed another successful installation for Cala Homes at Sandy Lane Cobham. The installation consisted of 2 sets of electric gates and intercom system to the houses. Compliance with latest directives is essential so these gates were force tested and issued with a declaration of conformity. Eagle support all installations and are able to offer a 24hour emergency call out to offer peace of mind in the unlikely event something should go wrong. In the event of power failure all systems can be manually overridden. All systems are supported with CAD drawings and cabling requirements for intercoms and access control

The idea behind the project was to explore a new usage for the main exhibition hall and replace the administrative wing and develop it from a residential point of view. The project sits at the southern end of Holland Park and occupies an area of 30.000 m2. Effisus weatherproofing solutions and Consulting Services have been integrated throughout the project, aiming to maximize the building’s energy efficiency and air quality. Architect Tamas Deilinger and his wife chose a DRU Maestro 75 contemporary gas fire to be the main focal point in the living room of their classic town house It was installed by London fireplace specialists Acquisitions. They adapted the existing chimney, creating a larger opening for the fire and inserting the balanced flue all the way up to the roof. The Maestro 75 has the exclusive DRU Dynamic log burner, which generates high, dense, realistic flames underpinned by a comforting glow. The flame picture can be controlled with a smartphone or tablet using the unique DRU Eco Wave app.

Products designed, supplied, and installed by Furnitubes at Christchurch Gardens include bespoke wall-top seating and steel-framed boundary screens including a wire system for climbing plants and with integrated illuminated signage explaining the historical background of the site. Material quality was of paramount importance to all parties, and steelwork was finished in a specialist bronze coating in keeping with this high-profile site in the heart of Westminster. The scheme presented the further challenge of being delivered during the 2020 Covid lockdown, with Furnitubes’ installation works conducted under strict health and safety controls. The redeveloped site opened to the public in autumn 2020.

In 2018 South Ayrshire Council appointed main contractor Portakabin to build a proposed new state-of-the-art Early Years Centre in Ayr, Scotland. The £2.2 million Cherry Tree Early Years Centre development now provides the largest modular modern learning environment in Scotland. Jewers Doors has for many years supplied contour doors which are specially shaped to encompass the fuselage of an aircraft in order to provide an environmental seal. These doors allow part of an aircraft (e.g. the nose or tail) to be within the controlled environment of a hangar for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations. With part (often the major part) of an aircraft remaining outside the hangar, space within the hangar is available for other aircraft to be worked upon – thus increasing productivity. Such an arrangement also means that MRO operations can be undertaken on larger Code E and F aircraft in hangars that would otherwise be too small.

A four-storey office and laboratory facility at Oxford Science Park uses high-tech solar control glass. However, Maple still had an very important role to play. We supplied and installed a bespoke brise soleil system to further protect the interior from direct sunlight. F. Ball conducted extensive on-site moisture tests before recommending the use of Stopgap P131 primer for both the 650m clinic and a 200m MRI Scanning room. Priming helped control the absorption and improve the adhesion of the Stopgap Green Bag smoothing underlayment, recommended for its fast setting properties and suitability in heavy duty applications. Styccobond F44 was then trowel applied on two types of vinyl – one for each room – to give a high bond strength, strong initial tack and a long open time. Styccobond F61 heavy-duty contact adhesive was then used to secure skirting.

This allows the timber to be used as soon as it arrives on site.

Manchester New Square is a highly innovative urban project in Manchester City Centre. What makes Manchester New Square particularly interesting is that it has been constructed using off-site manufacturing and that is why NorDan were the perfect supplier for this development. As we own all of our factories, we have complete control over production schedules and we can cope with the tight, demanding schedules that off-site manufacturing requires. Our product also comes as a full set, complete with ironmongery and glass, so that they can be fitted straight into the concrete panels and moved onto site.

The German company Knauf Integral was able to prevail against competitors with its GIFAfloor DB green raised floor system. GEC Anderson stainless steel worktops were included in a recent Cornwall kitchen refurbishment, designed and installed by George Robinson Kitchens who produce hand crafted, bespoke kitchens, near Penzance. For homeowners, Mr. & Mrs. Bull, the choice of materials was pivotal to the design of their home kitchen, particularly, as their long-term plan is to use the space as a cookery school. Stainless steel was therefore a key element and was chosen not only for its visual properties and low lifetime cost but also for its ability to withstand heavy usage, to be heat resistant and to remain germ-free. From a visual perspective, the work surfaces make up a significant proportion of the colour and texture in the room. In this Georgian property in Cornwall, the materials and textures chosen make for an eclectic yet functional space. The inherent durability and unsurpassed hygienic properties of the brushed stainless steel elements from GEC Anderson will make it perform extremely well as a professional kitchen. The Tulip wood and Oak wood with its different painted finishes together with the white Silestone quartz top on the central island top provides a striking contrast to the stainless steel in one corner, giving a light and pleasant, contemporary, feel.The L-shaped brushed satin stainless steel worktop and integral sink is made to measure and benefits from being manufactured in one continuous piece thus maximising the use of space in the corner in which it is situated. Furthermore, with no joins at the sink bowl, edges and upstands, the surface remains germ free as well as being free of visual clutter and noise. One side of the L-shape includes a generously sized (500x400mm) single bowl and draining area, whilst the other, provides useful and practical work surface. Pure Design – Bolidtop 525Colour – S 7500-N with textureless anti-slip1300m²Installation dates - July 2021 (10 days) Museums and performing arts venues are subject to intensive use by millions of shuffling feet, day in day out as well as heavy loads from equipment and installations. Stratum were chosen to prepare and resurface 1300m2 of the existing floor to the iconic main space of the Roundhouse, in Camden, which had endured 15 years of heavy use. The building is a heritage site, originally built as a steam engine shed, therefore our flooring needed to meet the functional requirements for the users but also sensitively fit in with the history of the space and its aesthetics. The surface needed to be hardwearing allowing for large scale builds for various productions, involving plant use, installation of temporary structures, staging etc. We sanded back the entire floor, repaired the damage and installed Bolidtop 525 over the top with textureless anti-slip coating. Challenge-      Working within an extremely busy venue with a tight time scale and no room for error.-      Being a heritage site we would need to be mindful of the original structure of the building-      Large footprint spanning across the main space of the venue.-      No dust creation allowed due to sensitive electrical equipment. Solution-      We agreed a slot and timescale to carry out all of the works in 10 days. We programmed out the works for the customer and provided them with daily updates.-      We used the highest grade dust extraction equipment. We ensured that labour and materials were all available in a timely manner.Benefits/Installation-      The customer was able to select the same smooth, matt appearance they had before but with a different colour choice and the addition of our new tried and tested textureless anti-slip coating.Result-      After 15 years of heavy use this magnificent heritage site has a seamless, durable and safe floor reinstated to provide the functional qualities required for many years of intense footfall and wear the performing arts industry creates. The floor sympathetically compliments the building with a simple, matt finish. "We used Stratum to floor the corridors and they did a great job. As part of an on-going, planned flat roofs refurbishment, the Hotel flat roofs existing, ageing coverings were found to be in various state of deterioration. Following surveys by Proteus Waterproofing, some of the flat roofs were assessed to be still suitable to be overlaid, some had aged beyond economic recovery, requiring removal. Proteus Waterproofing were asked to design and supply a high-performance replacement, selecting the most suitable roof system from its wide range, for each roof. The ChallengeFounded in 1432, Sevenoaks boarding school is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country with some of the buildings dating from the 17th Century. The client requested an easy-to-use, energy-efficient underfloor heating solution in rooms of different uses across the school that would have a negligible impact on floor heights. The installation of the system would also have to be considerate of the historic nature of the building.The SolutionDue to the need for a low floor build-up and with a project featuring a mix of floor finishes, our Foil Heater was the ideal choice for an easy-to-use and quick to install underfloor heating system. The Foil Heater is perfect for use with the school’s carpeted and wooden floor finishes and was installed in conjunction the Dual Overlay System when fitted with the carpeted flooring for a stable subfloor solution that can handle heavier load areas. Warmup’s StickyMat System was installed throughout the school’s bathrooms, which can be fitted directly within the layer of tile adhesive or levelling compound, therefore having little-to-no effect on floor heights. These include GDL natural ventilation products to help provide efficient heating and cooling.GDL worked in conjunction with Derry Ltd to provide and install Intelivent Wall Units and Penthouse Turrets.Designed to meet the ventilation demand of the occupied spaces, our in-house design team assisted making the correct system choices. Our Intelivent products are particularly effective in offices, seminar rooms & workshops where occupancy levels vary throughout the day and a controlled ventilation rate is required.Benefits of using GDL Products on the projectThe Wall Units allow a controlled environment by allowing natural fresh air to enter the building via external weather louvres. The heating coil within the unit is used as a front line heating source during winter.Our Intelivent Turrets offer a balanced supply of fresh air whilst removing warm stale air, an ideal product to ventilate the workshops effectively and efficiently.Intelivent Transfer Fans have been installed to ductwork to assist with the supply and extract of air within the offices and seminar rooms.

Spanning an impressive 8,500m2, the three-storey building makes a striking centrepiece on the water’s edge. With its BREEAM requirements, waterfront position, and proximity to the coast, it was essential that the building’s roof be designed and installed to meet sustainability criteria, whilst being watertight and robust to withstand the elements. As the system needed to exceed a lifespan of 20 years in a coastal region, Sarnafil specified its thickest membrane with a 25-year guarantee – a 2mm membrane, Sarnafil HD, to withstand the elements on the main field area which it currently is doing extremely well.

To repair the deteriorating riverbed was a specialist one which made both local and national news.Situated in Carlisle, Cumbria, the River Eden railway viaduct recently required an urgent repair solution to the deteriorating riverbed condition, where trains were having to operate at reduced speeds of 20mph over the Victorian and 1940s-built structures.Detailed laser surveys carried out by Network Rail showed fast flowing water on the River Eden had caused parts of the riverbed to wash away, posing a risk to the viaduct foundations.

Financed by county council capital funds, Northamptonshire County Council undertook a multi-million pound remedial works programme on a number of schools originally built in the 1960’s and 1970’s. All of the buildings were suffering from some degree of water ingress, and the roofs needed to be brought in line with current building regulations for improved thermal performance. Sika Sarnafil’s specialist roofing contractors installed over 50,000m2 in light and lead grey of G410-18EL single ply membrane to the school roofs.

A good example of the before and after effects of laying a sedum roof garden and accompanying deck and paved area onto a small domestic roof terrace. All these products are designed to sit on top of the waterproof membrane (in this case single ply) there was no issue of damage to the roof. The support pads lifted the decking off the roof, eliminating the risk of the timber piercing the membrane, and drainage was maintained through the roof surface since the green roof system has a cavity beneath its own reservoir and drainage layer to allow water run-off.

Early on in the design of this Social Housing scheme at Stump Cross, Pontefract, it was decided that only a permeable pavement would work as the SuDS solution for this development. As the existing drainage infrastructure in the area was already working close to its capacity any additional run off from this developments could cause surface water flooding. Swales and ponds were not be feasible as there was insufficient space available for them. A permeable pavement was therefore chosen as there was no additional land take involved. The new multi-story car park has space for 3,800 vehicles and is part of the £1 billion transformation programme at the airport.
