Application

For protecting painted wood and wood-based boards on walls and ceilings.

Description

Thermoguard Smoke and Flame Retardant Dualcoat is a fire retardant topcoat and maintenance paint that can be used as part of a flame and fire retardant system for timber surfaces protected with Thermoguard Timbercoat internally and externally.

Features and benefits:

  • Available in pack sizes of 20 m² and 40 m².
  • Compliant with BS EN 13501, B-s1,d0 standards, providing protection against toxic smoke, flaming droplets and flamespread/ insulation.
  • Can be used on suitable external timber cladding. Best to apply to all sides. If not practical, seal void with fire rated foam and acrylic intumescent mastic.
  • Can be used as part of a system to achieve 30 or 60 minutes fire resistance.
  • Insulating Basecoat expands in a fire to create a resilient insulating barrier.
  • Dualcoat Smoke and Flame Retardant emits a safe fire-damping vapour in a fire to control flame spread and suppress smoke.
  • Dualcoat SFR’s polyurethane hardened acrylic “cross-links” during the drying process to form a smoother, harder, more cleanable surface than typical wall paints and help eliminate the microscopic pockets that host bacteria which prevent effective cleaning.
  • UKAS and EOTA approved over 10, 14 and 20 coats of all wall paint types used on buildings since vinyl, acrylic, oil based, anti-graffiti, with or without wallpaper and the flame retardant paint that emits toxic antimony gas.

Application:

  • Insulating basecoats must be clean and fully hard dry. Stir well before use.
  • Brush and roller applied via a woven short pile roller sleeve or synthetic brush at rate stated on can or spray applied using a pressure pot and gun conventional with hand-portable compressor.
  • Ensure coverage is applied as per can instructions.
