Thermoguard Fire Varnish Basecoat

The Thermoguard Fire Varnish Basecoat is a two-component, water-based product consisting of a base and activator. This clear, intumescent varnish is to be paired with either a Thermoguard Interior Fire Varnish Overcoat or Exterior Varnish to provide additional protection against UV radiation and wear.

Thermoguard Fire Varnish Basecoat provides the intumescent fire protection for the Thermoguard Fire Varnish Systems. The Thermoguard Fire Varnish Basecoat comes with options for internal and external fire protection of timber and timber derived substrate.

• Compliant with BS EN 13501, B-s2,d0 standards.
• Can be used as part of a system to achieve 30 or 60 minute fire resistance.
• The formula provides tough and durable finishes for internal and external wood surfaces. It enhances the wood while offering fire protection to new/ bare surfaces and previously varnished substrates.
• When exposed to fire, Thermoguard Exterior Fire Varnish expands to create an insulating barrier, protecting timber surfaces from flames, heat and oxygen and suppressing emission of deadly smoke and gasses.

Application:

• Cover, countersink and fill, or use non-ferrous, galvanized, stainless or sherardized fittings.
• Ensure surfaces are dry, clean and free of all contamination.
• Varnished, sealed or non-porous wood should be abraded thoroughly with medium grade silicon carbide abrasive when dry to provide a good key. 
• Thermoguard Fire Varnish Basecoat should only be applied to dry wood, with dry conditions during application.
