Application

Suitable for use as a protective and decorative back-ventilated and drained cavity rainscreen cladding system on external walls of domestic and non-domestic buildings of masonry, concrete, timber-frame or steel-frame substrate walls, above the damp-proof course (DPC) level in areas with non-severe exposure to chemicals.

Cotswold Rustic brick range for the BrickClad® mechanically fixed drained and back-ventilated rainscreen brick facade system

  • BrickClad® cassette profiles are flat backed, creating a single, flat inner surface for easier, more accurate detailing, reduced fire risk, and improved fire stopping installation.
  • Magnelis® steel provides significantly improved protection as compared to galvanised steel fixing systems
  • Magnelis® steel is self-healing, protecting the steel fixing system from snags and nicks on site
  • BrickClad® Bricks can be installed in a variety of layouts, including running bond, English bond, Flemish bond and soldier course.
  • The BrickClad® mechanically fixed brick facade system is 75% lighter than a conventional brick facade, making it suitable for lightweight structures
  • All BrickClad® facade system components are rated A1 non-combustible to BS 13501-1
  • Suitable for new builds and retrofitting for existing buildings
  • The BrickClad® mechanically fixed facade system is BBA certified
  • The BrickClad® mechanically fixed facade system used the patented and Queens Award-winning Shackerley SureClad® primary support system to create a support grid.
  • Large range of support brackets and rails to create design zones in excess of 300mm.
  • The BrickClad® cladding system can be installed using our single rail steel cassette fixing system or our innovative and unique five-in-one Multi-Rail® installation system.
  • BrickClad® steel cassette rails are supplied in 2.4m lengths as standard and can also be supplied in other lengths to order
  • A range of specially formulated lime/sand pointing mortar is available in a variety of colours to complement the BrickClad® ventilated rainscreen system.
  • A range of brick facade details is available for the BrickClad® mechanically fixed BrickClad® system including bonded corners, stop-end bricks, side bonded mitred corners ends, and ventilation bricks.

Secondary support structure

BrickClad helping hand and vertical support grid with horizontal Magnelis coated rail support system.

Guidance for specification option:

Horizontal rails

  • 0.7 mm thick grade S220GD steel cassette profile rails with Magnelis coating to BS EN 10346.
  • Also available as stainless steel.

Vertical rails

  • The vertical rails are a series of T-profile sections manufactured from 2.5 mm thick aluminium alloy (grade 6063/T6) to BS EN 12020-1.
  • Available in three profile sizes: 50 x 50, 50 x 60 and 50 x 75 mm.
  • T rails fixed to helping hand brackets with supplied fasteners from manufacturer.
  • T rails are also available in stainless steel.
  • Bespoke sizes available.

Helping hands brackets:

  • Wall brackets are 5 mm thick, L-shaped and manufactured from 2.5 mm thick aluminium alloy ally (grade 6063/T6) to BS EN 12020-1.
  • The aluminium brackets are available in either 80 or 160 mm heights by 60 mm wide and in ten leg lengths of 50, 62, 76, 95, 130, 170, 190, 210, 250 or 290 mm to accommodate various cavity widths.
  • The brackets supporting the vertical sub-frame incorporate a thermal isolation pad and are mechanically fixed to the substrate. Helping hand brackets and thermal pads are to be fixed with to primary structure with fastener supplied by others.
  • Brackets are also available in stainless steel.

  • Manufactured to BS EN 14411, AIb–AIIb-2.
  • Brick size: 215 x 30 x 65 mm.
  • Smaller sizes (i.e. corner brick and cut sizes) are available on request.

Pointing mortar.

Guidance for specification option:

The pointing mortar used with the system is a hydrated lime, sand, GGBS (cement-free) pointing mortar manufactured to BS EN 998-2 : 2016 with a reaction to fire classification of A1 in accordance with BS EN 13501-1.
