Situated on the edge of Great Ancoats Street, in the Artisan residential complex featuring luxurious water features and tranquil gardens, this project is very close to Piccadilly and the heart of Manchester City Centre. This attractive residential development was part of a remediation project with the aim of upgrading the building to bring it in line with the latest regulations on fire safety. We worked closely with AEW Architects in the design and specification stage of the decking system and worked closely with Insulated Render Systems Scotland Ltd., who carried out the installation. As is the case with many of our renovation projects, we had to consider the loading criteria required to meet the needs of the balcony walkways, which also formed part of the building’s escape routes.Fire escape routes are required to meet higher loading criteria in accordance with EN 1991-1-1:2002 and the associated National Annex, so our BalcaSmart® Aluminium system was the perfect choice.Designed to fix directly to the balcony steels enabling fast and efficient installation, the BalcaSmart Aluminium system creates safe and secure decked balconies, however challenging the design and performance requirements are. This renovation project presented us with low threshold heights to work with, so we opted for JH50 Joist Hangers to replace the existing timber joists with aluminium ones, which allowed the top of the joist to be flush with the steel frame.Martyn Mounter, Senior Technician – AEW Architects, claimed that this project presented two challenges: balconies with a domestic load and walkways with a heavy load requirement. Martin expressed reassurance with all the technical documentation, certifications, and support provided throughout the project.BalcaSmart Aluminium carries our IGNO mark of assurance, which should provide owners, residents and users with the peace of mind they deserve.

This large-scale project featuring 224 bolt-on balconies involved the replacement of composite decking boards on timber joists with BalcaSmart Aluminium decking. We've seen a huge increase in the number of refurbishment projects since the updated Approved Document B came into force along with guidance from the government urging owners of pre-existing buildings to remove combustible materials from balconies if found. This luxury tower was completed in 2014 but with 25 stories, it was a project that came with many challenges.System UsedBalcaSmart Aluminium decking system with aluminium decking boards in RAL 7039 (Quartz Grey).Selected for its low-height build-up, the BalcaSmart Aluminium decking system for balconies was selected, with joists attaching directly to the existing steel balcony frame.Balconies are stacked. To ensure the finish from below was as seamless as that from above, the substructure was powder-coated in RAL 7040 (Window Grey) to match the balcony steels. The ChallengesPre balcony fabrication, our estimating and design team worked with Fletcher Crane architects to create detailed designs, which our team used to create a bespoke specification. As the development was completed in 2014, apartments were occupied, with residents present during refurb works.Furthermore, due to the glass facades and balustrades to the exterior, the goods for the job (including cut-to-length aluminium decking boards) were taken in through the interior of the building and installed as such by London-based Acacia Gardens from Hounslow.Location: ShoreditchCompleted: 2021Architect: Fletcher CraneClient: Private leaseholders

Delivering a stylish, solid and compliant solution for luxury living The challenge: Matching Luxury with Safety in High-End Apartments Berkeley Group St. Edward embarked on an ambitious project: Bankside Gardens, a prestigious development in Reading featuring lakefront apartments and landscaped gardens. Designing balconies and terraces that embodied elegance while adhering to stringent fire safety regulations was paramount. They needed a balcony solution that was stylish, solid and compliant, offering the peace of mind essential for luxury living. Finding a balance between aesthetics and fire safety can be a challenge for specifiers and developers. RYNO's non-combustible decking systems ensure safety compliance without sacrificing design possibilities. The solution: The TerraSmart® Aluminium Decking System - The Perfect Fit St. Edward's search for a reliable supplier led them to RYNO. After a quick and informative discovery call, RYNO recommended the TerraSmart® Aluminium Decking system. This innovative system ticked all the boxes:Unmatched Safety: IGNO Mark of Assurance guaranteed non-combustible performance, providing peace of mind.Third-Party Verification: UKAS accredited testing ensured the system met the highest safety and quality standards.Design Flexibility: A vast array of decking board and component combinations allowed for achieving the desired aesthetic. Two days after the discovery call, our team paid a visit to the Bankside Gardens site office. Calvin and Dale from RYNO brought with them a mock-up sample of the TerraSmart system, allowing all stakeholders to see and feel the product first-hand. This hands-on approach ensured everyone was on the same page regarding design and functionality. Collaborative Problem-Solving: Addressing Every Detail Over the next few weeks, open communication and collaboration were key. When Delineate Design Limited were appointed for installation, it was the first time they had used the TerraSmart system, so the RYNO team worked closely with them and the St. Edward team to address every detail throughout the process. This comprehensive support ensured a smooth and successful installation.Accommodating Weight Requirements: Balcony weight limitations were discussed, and the TerraSmart system's lightweight properties were confirmed as a perfect fit.Addressing Wind Concerns: The risk of wind uplift and furniture movement on balconies was a crucial consideration. RYNO's solution? The ingenious FA Furniture Anchor. This easy-to-install, stainless steel anchor securely fastens furniture to the decking, preventing windblown mishaps and ensuring safety on balconies and terraces.Optimizing Edge Details and Interfaces: RYNO collaborated with the design team to ensure smooth transitions between the decking system and adjoining surfaces, creating a clean and aesthetically pleasing finish.Maximizing Efficiency: RYNO's expertise in system design came into play. We shared best practices for layout optimization to ensure efficient use of space and materials.Minimizing Waste: Sustainability is a priority at RYNO. We provided recommendations to minimize offcuts and wastage during installation, reducing environmental impact and reducing the material costs on the project.Ensuring a Flawless Finish: To guarantee a perfect end result, we collaborated on a plan for addressing any minor snags or imperfections that might arise during installation, ensuring a flawless final product.Overcoming the Roof Access Challenge: The project presented a unique challenge: the cage used to lift materials to the roof areas had a limited length of 3200mm. To accommodate this all the decking boards were pre-cut to 3000mm to ensure they fit within the cage constraints, avoiding delays and ensuring a smooth installation process. Real Results: Achieving a Stunning and Peaceful Outdoor SpaceWith meticulous planning and clear communication, RYNO ensured a smooth production process and delivery according to Delineate's installation schedule. The TerraSmart system's ease of use allowed for a swift and successful installation phase. The final product speaks for itself. The balconies and terraces boast a beautiful ADB60 25mm Decking Board in RAL 7039 (Quartz Grey) with matching E and L Termination Profiles, complemented by DS75 75mm Aluminium Joists, RD-FR4 Non-Combustible Adjustable Joist Support Pedestals, and FA Furniture Anchors. A Note from Delineate Design Limited (placeholder):"RYNO provided an excellent service assisting with design, and an efficient and prompt supply of all decking components needed. I’d recommend them to others. Finally, non-combustible decking that actually looks like wood! Our first Vitrified Composite case study.  The Challenge: Combining Aesthetics, Fire Safety, and Durability in High-End Milton Keynes Development Bowback House, an ambitious residential development in Milton Keynes, demanded more than just luxury – it required advanced fire safety and durability standards, especially for the terraces and outdoor areas. HG Living, the developer behind this high-end project, sought a terrace flooring system that not only looked exceptional but was also fully compliant with strict fire safety regulations. With limited time and challenging site constraints, they needed a solution that balanced visual appeal, safety, and speed of installation.Given the project's prestige, the system also had to complement the stunning roofscape while adhering to height restrictions and working around a complex drainage crate substructure. The tight project deadlines added further pressure to deliver quickly, without compromising on quality or safety. The Solution: RYNO’s Vitrified Composite Decking and Pedestal System – Fast, Safe, and Stylish HG Living reached out to RYNO after being impressed by the realistic wood-effect finish of RYNO’s Vitrified Composite decking. After a same-day sample drop to HAALO, the project architect, they were convinced that this system would meet both the aesthetic and regulatory demands of the project. The vitrified composite decking system is not only visually stunning but also non-combustible, achieving an A1 fire rating. Furthermore, its design ensures it is inherently wind-uplift-proof, providing additional security on exposed terrace areas.Quick Installation and Stock Availability Speed was critical as the project was nearing completion. RYNO’s stock availability proved vital in meeting deadlines. Since all components of the system were available from stock, including the decking boards, no time was wasted on manufacturing delays. This allowed the team to deliver and install quickly, ensuring the project remained on track.Solving Height and Substructure Challenges The terrace presented another significant challenge: low height build-ups and a drainage crate substructure. RYNO’s team worked closely with the site team to survey and design a bespoke support system that would provide the necessary strength and stability while adhering to the minimal height build-up required. This bespoke design ensured a rigid and stable installation, preventing any issues during use.Collaborative Problem-Solving: RYNO and Kilhan Construction Partnership In addition to the decking system, RYNO worked in tandem with Kilhan Construction, the subcontractor responsible for the terrace paving. Kilhan required a durable and fast-to-install paving support system. RYNO provided their terrace pedestal system to support the concrete paving on the terrace level. The metal pedestals used were not only fully non-combustible but also designed for long-term durability, offering a 30-year warranty and a 60-year design life.Real Results: A Stunning, Safe, and Durable Outdoor Space for Milton Keynes Thanks to RYNO’s quick turnaround, fire-rated materials, and custom design solutions, the Bowback House terraces and outdoor spaces were completed to the highest standards. The combination of RYNO’s vitrified composite decking and non-combustible pedestal systems created a beautiful, functional, and safe environment for the residents. The project stands as a testament to the importance of collaboration and flexibility, delivering results that balance luxury, safety, and durability for years to come.

We worked directly with Berkeley Group to explore non-combustible finish options and put forward onr of our newer porcelain finishes that would match the overall aesthetic appeal of the project. We delivered various samples of finishes and when we deep-dived into the project, as part of our methodology, we determined that it was at risk of wind-uplift. Berkeley Group carried out a wind-uplift assessment, which we facilitated, and confirmed the risk, which we then helped mitigate by proposing kerfed porcelain tiles with our Hidden Wind Uplift fixing. We worked very closely with Berkeley Group throughout the project to address and resolve any challenges, while AYM did a fantastic job installing all the balconies and terraces with our kerfed porcelain and hidden wind-uplift fixing. This has been one of our largest projects to-date, a great success and a prime example of our hidden restraint in action. The Challenge: Overcoming Complex Decking Remediation at Gemini ParkReplacing non-compliant decking on existing structures often presents significant challenges, and the Gemini Park project was no exception. The complexity of the project stemmed from several key factors:Original Design Limitations:The steel frames of the balconies were originally designed to accommodate timber joists, offering flexibility but severely limiting the options for alternative, more compliant materials.Span and Cantilever Requirements:The new decking needed to span large distances and overhang building edges, a requirement that added to the structural demands.Structural Inconsistencies:There were variations in balcony build-ups and discrepancies between the original plans and the actual construction, which further complicated the installation process.Faced with these challenges, the client sought a reliable aluminium decking solution that could meet these stringent requirements while restoring the residents’ peace of mind. The Solution: A Tailored Aluminium Decking SystemTo address the complex challenges presented by the Gemini Park project, the Ryno team developed a customized solution using components from the BalcaSmart Aluminium Decking System. This tailored approach was designed to navigate the project’s specific obstacles effectively.DFB150-DR Aluminium Decking Board:The centre piece of the solution was the innovative DFB150-DR Aluminium Decking Board. This board offers a 1500mm span capacity and integrated drainage within a compact 40mm profile. By allowing perpendicular installation, it significantly reduced the material and labour requirements, making the solution both cost-effective and efficient.T Aluminium Support Rail:The T25 Aluminium Support Rail was selected to replace the existing timber batons. Its design enables quick and secure attachment to steel frames, providing a robust and reliable alternative to timber that meets the necessary compliance standards.DS Aluminium Joist System:To recreate the flexibility of the original timber framing and achieve precise height alignment with door thresholds, the DS Aluminium Joist was used in combination with ADC Joist Support Cleats and JH Joist Hangers. This system offered the necessary adaptability to address the structural inconsistencies and ensure a seamless integration with the existing balcony structures.Achieving Success Through Tailored SolutionsThis tailored approach, informed by RYNO’s extensive experience in decking remediation, successfully transformed the balconies at Gemini Park. The use of the BalcaSmart® Aluminium Decking System not only met the project’s challenging span and cantilever requirements but also overcame the structural inconsistencies with precision. The result was a safe, compliant, and aesthetically pleasing decking solution that restored the residents’ peace of mind and ensured long-term satisfaction. The Challenge: Reimagining a Heritage Site with Modern Balcony SolutionsThe redevelopment of Hammersmith Town Hall on West King Street posed unique challenges. This Grade II-listed site was transformed into a mixed-use urban quarter, blending heritage preservation with modern functionality. Designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, the project created a vibrant new civic campus featuring shops, restaurants, affordable housing, and enhanced public spaces. Key to this transformation was the construction of residential balconies that needed to meet aesthetic, safety, and structural requirements. However, the layout of the balconies initially posed significant design challenges for the main contractor, Ardmore, and their installer, ABM Tiling. Traditional pedestal systems proved unsuitable for the complex design, but working with the design teams, Ryno assisted in specifying the optimal balcony solution – BalcaSmart Rail System. Additionally, with wind uplift challenges on the balconies, the porcelain tiles needed to be restrained to ensure the long-term safety of those that occupy the redevelopment. The Solution: RYNO’s BalcaSmart® Rail Paving System with Visual Wind Uplift FixingRYNO stepped in to resolve these challenges, proposing the innovative BalcaSmart® Rail Paving System with Visual Wind Uplift Fixing. This solution offered the flexibility and support needed for the porcelain tiles while addressing the unique requirements of the balconies. After an on-site visit and thorough consultation, RYNO’s team collaborated closely with Ardmore and ABM Tiling to ensure the system’s success. Key Features of the BalcaSmart® Rail Paving System:Structural Integrity: The smart and versatile way to achieve paved balconies. Paving rail sits perpendicular to balcony joist, providing totally stable support for paving tiles.Visual Wind Uplift Fixing: The system is supplied with discreet flange-headed screws and washers to secure the tiles to the rail system. Tightening the screws clamps the paving to the rails and provides a successful countermeasure against the effects of wind uplift.Flexibility and Precision: Allows many different layout formats including random length, mixed width, stack bond, stretcher bond, and plank paving. Paving spacers also allow rapid water drainage through paving.Collaborative Problem-Solving: A Team EffortRYNO’s hands-on approach proved critical to the project’s success. By working closely with ABM Tiling and Ardmore, RYNO provided ongoing support and expertise throughout the installation process. This collaboration ensured:Optimised Material Use: RYNO’s solution made effective use of the surplus porcelain tiles, avoiding additional costs and reducing waste.Tailored Adjustments: The system was customized to address the unique layout and structural challenges of the balconies.Efficient Installation: On-site guidance and best practices from RYNO facilitated a smooth and timely installation process.Real Results: A Seamless Blend of Heritage and Modern LivingThe refurbished Hammersmith Town Hall now stands as a testament to thoughtful design and expert execution. The balconies, featuring the BalcaSmart® Rail Paving System, perfectly complement the site’s blend of historical and contemporary elements.  “We installed RYNO's specialised pedestal and rail systems not only for levelling and drainage but also for their proven effectiveness in counteracting these uplift forces.” – ABM TilingWith RYNO’s innovative solutions and collaborative spirit, Hammersmith Town Hall’s redevelopment has delivered a vibrant, inclusive space for the community while preserving its architectural legacy.

A multiphase regeneration project consisting of well over 1,200 new homes, community facilities, and a central park with communal facilities and a soft-play area. The regeneration project started back in 2010, phase 2 saw run between January 2011 and April 2013, phase 3 finished at the end of 2017, phase 4 delivered new homes during the 2nd half of 2018, while the latest phases started in 2019 and complete in 2024.Greenside Landscapes were awarded the Hard & Soft Landscaping at Heathside & Lethbridge in Lewisham, for which we supplied our TerraSmart Rail Paving System to support the rectangular concrete pavers in the communal podium space. The system, which is fully non-combustible, it’s made up of super-strong, 100% recyclable aluminium joists, which overlap to create a lattice framework, offering the maximum possible level of support, especially suited to high trafficked areas. The paving system featured a build-up of approximately 300mm and was perfectly integrated into the soft landscaping and soft play areas. Another example of a similar system deployment, in which we worked again with Greenside Landscapes, was the IKEA Hammersmith roof-terrace project.

The Ikea Hammersmith roof terrace project was an exciting one to be involved with as it is a perfect example of when to use a rail-based support system over pedestals.Ikea is a global brand known for its simple design solutions that can be used by everyone. The system – TerraSmart Rail IGNOThere was 6600m2 of the TerraSmart Rail system installed across the terrace to support concrete pavers and porcelain pavers. The lattice make-up of the paving system meant that the insulation layer placed upon the original roof was held down. This framework offered a robust and reliable substructure to the walking surface that will experience a lot of foot traffic. As it is part of our IGNO range, the system is fully non-combustible.The ChallengesThe roof had existing features in the structural slab, which meant that pedestals alone wouldn’t have been able to successfully support the surface, and therefore, a rail system was employed. The rail system allowed easy adjustment to the height creating level plains across the terrace. This system also became an advantage when forming the ramp featured in the design because the TerraSmart Rail can provide non-combustible multidirectional support to the pavers maximising stability and reliability, creating a robust and safe incline a the desired angle. Two different pavers were used as part of the project, a 50mm concrete tile and a 20mm porcelain tile. The transition between the two pavers took place at the same level. The seamless transition between the two finishes was achieved by ‘zoning’ the areas and changing the paving support heights. As it was part of a larger building, the terrace had to account for the expansion and contraction felt over time by differences in the residual temperature. The paving supports had to account for this so that any heat-induced changes would have minimal impact on the safety of the surface. An expansion profile was manufactured to slot between the tiles found over the expansion seam in the insulation to overcome this issue. The expansion profile rises above the gap between pavers and creates an L-shaped cover, hiding any expected movement. Why the project succeededThe success of this project was down to the collaborative effort between everyone involved in the project. The unique features of the project were worked on by the project, innovation and specification teams at Ryno and were complemented by the installation carried out by Greenside Landscapes.

Manchester Victoria - Residential Balconies

RYNO

Developed as a great space to live in one of Manchester's best-connected locations, close to the city's shops, restaurants & bars, and next to Manchester Victoria train station, the project comprised two 20 and 25-storey residential towers, which delivered 520 new homes. The architect Sheppard Robson, main contractor VINCI Construction, and installer Deckbuilders, all came together to deliver a great project, that is part of a gateway into the city, featuring fantastic-looking balconies, which we were very happy to secure against the forces of nature: namely wind-uplift.There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to mitigating the effects of negative pressure on balconies and terraces in high-rise buildings, and in this particular case, we had to fix the paving down to the main structure of the building mechanically, to de-risk against the impact of up to -2.68kPa of suction on the roof.To account for cost and time constraints, the system we used to secure the balconies against wind-uplift was the TerraSmart™ Pedestal system with the addition of a visual wind-uplift mechanical fixing. The tiles were mechanically restrained to the pedestals which, in turn, were mechanically fixed to the concrete deck of the balconies. And the outcome? Balconies secured, the project de-risked against wind-uplift, and the beautiful Quadro Argento Tiles (600x1200x20mm) safely in place for all residents to experience and enjoy. Listen to what our specification manager had to say.If you are specifying a project and want to know how you can mitigate the effects wind-uplift or the impact that occurs as a result of urban canyons, we can help.

Located in the heart of Marylebone, this is a self-contained building in one of London’s most sought-after locations. The building features private lateral apartments in a beautifully designed, mixed-use building on the site of the former Moxon Street carpark.Amenities include retail shops, restaurants, and community facilities. The basement offers residents with parking facilities. We worked with SEC to supply our TerraSmart Rail Paving System both internally and externally. On the external balconies of the project, we had to overcome wind-uplift, so we carried out a survey and used a fixing mechanism to secure the system against any adverse weather conditions. Wind uplift occurs when strong winds encounter a building and are forced up and over it. This accelerates the wind and creates a pocket of negative pressure above horizontal surfaces, such as balconies and terraces. This negative pressure exerts a suction effect on the surface, lifting paving and decking from the supporting substructure and causing significant damage. We have a dedicated article on this topic if you are interested in reading more about it.On the internal walkways of the building, our TerraSmart Rail was transported off-site where it was fixed to a steel frame. Our non-combustible joist-support RD-FR pedestals were spot-welded onto the main steel and the DS joists fixed to that. This was aligned with the overall height build-up for the 600x1200mm pavers on the internal gantries to be sitting onto. This is how the installers achieved the seamless integration between internal and external spaces of those areas.TerraSmart® Rail is made up of super-strong, 100% recyclable aluminium joists, which overlap to create a lattice framework, offering the maximum possible level of support for the paving surface. The system is fully non-combustible, achieving a Euroclass A1 fire rating. The finish of the internal areas at ground level, where no fire rating was required, featured 40mm granite pavers supported by our self-levelling adjustable RPA paving pedestals. Kier was the main contractor of the project which completed in 2023.

The Challenge: Overcoming Roof Terrace Paving Issues at Meridian OneAt Meridian One, a prestigious residential development, the initial inspections of the first block revealed significant problems with the roof terrace paving. The site team identified multiple issues: many pavers were loose and unstable, with oversized gaps forming, even before occupancy. This was not only a safety concern but also a potential aesthetic and functional setback for the project.A detailed site visit by RYNO uncovered the root causes of these problems:Insufficient build-up:The 50mm concrete pavers used on the terraces, combined with a minimal build-up height of only 50mm in some areas, left no room for pedestals, leading to instability.Improper mortar use:Wet mortar had been applied in certain areas to make up for the lack of space and to accommodate drainage gullies. This led to further instability, as the mortar could not adequately support the pavers.Lack of perimeter spacersThe absence of spacers or spring clips around the paving edges allowed for creeping and the formation of gaps over time.Setting out issues:The layout of the pavers, particularly with the small 450x450mm format, resulted in awkward cuts at door thresholds, compounding the existing challenges. The Solution: A Comprehensive ApproachTo address the multifaceted challenges presented by the failing roof terrace paving, RYNO collaborated closely with the site team to develop a comprehensive solution. The core of the strategy involved implementing a robust pedestal system (TerraSmart® Pedestal Paving System IGNO: Fixed Head) combined with careful product selection and expert installation.Optimizing Build-Up Height:One of the primary concerns was the inadequate build-up height, which limited the available space for traditional paving support. To resolve this, a 20mm porcelain paver, Quadro Crema, was selected from RYNO’s extensive range. This choice satisfied both the functional and aesthetic requirements of the project. By reducing the paver thickness by 30mm, sufficient space was created for the installation of the RP-FR Non-Combustible Adjustable Paving Support Pedestal, starting at 25mm.Streamlining Installation:To streamline the installation process and minimize waste, a larger 600x600mm paver format was adopted. This decision significantly reduced the need for complex cutting around the terrace edges, thereby ensuring a cleaner, more efficient installation.Maintaining Stability:To prevent movement and maintain even spacing, the ESC Edge Spring Clip was incorporated into the system. This innovative product created a consistent gap between the paving and the wall, effectively countering outward pressure and ensuring proper drainage.Reinstallation and Quality Assurance:The existing problematic areas were carefully dismantled and reinstalled using the new system. The first block has been successfully completed, and the solution is currently being implemented across the remaining blocks.Key Learnings: The Importance of Early InvolvementBoth RYNO and the site team gained valuable insights from this experience. It became clear that the early involvement of a specialist manufacturer in the design phase is crucial to avoid time, cost, and hassle later in the project. This proactive approach ensures that potential issues are identified and addressed before they become major problems, leading to a smoother construction process and a higher quality end product.A Word from Vistry“I have to say that the products that they’ve recommended have been absolutely superb. We have used them across the whole project, and it’s been absolutely fabulous. Easy to manage my job. The tradesmen find it easy to use as well. The follow up visits from RYNO have been great. They’ve been very supportive, checking how we use the product, including advice, where we need it. So, keep up the good work!”Maria Butzki-Vogel, Site Manager – Vistry Partnerships

Thames City is a spectacular location and presence in Zone One of the River Thames. With some of the city’s most breathtaking views, especially for those not afraid of heights, this is a fresh district featuring three residential towers, a development of 12 buildings, beautiful apartments with private luxury amenities, high-end retail, and fine dining venues. The overall experience of this amazing project is made even more appealing thanks to its network of interconnecting parks, cosy green courtyards, and romantic city squares. This project was complex, involving both TerraSmart Rail Paving and TerraSmart Pedestal Paving Systems. Both these systems are designed for waterproofed substrates with TerraSmart Rail being the ultimate raised paving system, unbelievably solid thanks to its unique lattice framework.Due to the height of the tower, we worked closely with Midgard Design Services to develop and install an appropriate wind uplift mitigation solution to keep the project within budget. The TerraSmart Rail Paving System was weighted using ballast weights, and installed in the joist frame to mitigate uplift – it couldn’t be fixed into the structural slab due to it being an inverted roof. The pavers were then mechanically fixed to the joists using a wind uplift visual fixing, which clamps down the entire system. The TerraSmart Pedestal Paving System was mechanically fixed to the structural slab as there was no waterproofing membrane to penetrate underneath. The wind uplift mechanical fixing was screwed into the top of the pedestals to retain the concrete pavers and prevent any movement in strong winds. The installation of the systems was beautifully done by ANC Construction and the proof is in the photos you see on our website.
