Atlantic Academy, Bideford

Product: NORclad European Redwood with Koppers MicroShades “Brunnea” Treatment and 38 x 50, 47 x 50 and 47 x 75 mm backing structure battens which were regularised and Koppers MicroPro high-pressure impregnated (UC3) The main product cladding/rainscreen products installed were ex 38 x 50, 38 x 100 mm in fine sawn and chamfered bespoke profile – Fire-treated to Euroclass B-s1-d0 (s1 Smoke Production – d0 Flaming Droplets). This system is fully compatible with the Koppers MicroShades “Brunnea” treated cladding. Products specified and Treatment Services applied under ISO 9001 factory-controlled conditions and installation.

Brunnea treated Redwood Timber Cladding - NORclad - Tesco Car Park

Golden Mede - EuroClass B Fire Treated Siberian Larch Timber Cladding

Siberian Larch was supplied for this project in four different half lap profiles, utilising standard widths of timber to retain the value from the timber, and reduce waste – whilst the different widths board create an interesting image over the vast areas of timber cladding. NORclad Grade B was supplied, offering a fair spread of knots, along with the distinctive grain of the species which can be seen across the images.

Architects: Orme Architects. NORclad supplied two species for this project both treated with Koppers MicroShades “Brunnea”. PEFC-certified European Redwood in A Grade for the majority of the internal timber cladding, 7 different sizes of timbers were supplied from an extensive cutting list to minimise wastage on site, and in areas reduce the requirements for joints between boards. PEFC- certified Canadian Western Red Cedar was also supplied, this timber was used externally on the project, in a number of widths as seen within the images.

Project: Carbon Zero - Bristol

A prestigious 'Carbon Zero' project using a range of timber cladding/façade and decking products. NORclad MicroShades 'Brunnea' cladding and other bespoke products were selected based sustainability, a 30-year Osmose treatment warranty against rot and fungal (out of ground contact) with little or no maintenance required, and other important considerations such as cost and ease of installation. UWE Bower Ashton, Completed Summer 2017. Timber Cladding: Untreated Siberian Larch was supplied for this project, this will weather down to a silver grey to blend in to its surroundings, and contrast the other materials on the building. NORclad Grade B was supplied, offering a fair spread of knots, along with the distinctive grain of the species. Profiles: Horizontal cladding was a bespoke chamfered profile (Ex 25 x 100mm) Vertical timbers on the building are in a number of dimensions, Ex 25 x 100, Ex 50 x 50mm, and Ex 50 x 75mm.

NORclad supplied European Redwood A Grade Timber Cladding, treated with Koppers MicroShades ‘Brunnea’ High pressure treatment. The pigment contained within the treatment offers a good level of UV stability vs typical untreated species such as Larch and Cedar, along with the offering of a formal 30 year warranty against rot & fungal decay.

Stonehenge New Visitor Centre

Stonehenge New Visitor Centre Air-Dried British Sweet Chestnut The requirement was to meet the specification of BS1186-3 Class 2 and better. Due to the nature or Sweet Chestnut having large knots, it was opted to supply the product Finger Jointed, in turn created an almost entirely clear product as can be seen in the images below. Over time the tannins will begin to exude from the Sweet Chestnut, allowing the timber to weather down to a silver / grey and allowing the building to be more visually in keeping with English Heritage’s other buildings on-site.

Welsh Larch Timber Cladding Case Study - NORclad - Steiner Academy

Project: Steiner Academy, Frome Completed on Site: 2014 Timber Cladding: Welsh Larch This project saw untreated Welsh Larch used in 2 of our standard profiles. All the Horizontal Cladding installed on the project was our Double Chamfer/ Rhombus profile, NWCC1. The Vertical Cladding being supplied in the form of our T&G NWC2 board. Both of these profiles are machined from an Ex 25 x 150mm section size, to the grading criteria of Western Larch as specified by the Architect at Aedas/AHR. Over time this timber will weather to the silver/ grey that can be expected of from Larch.
