Application

  • Open rainscreen cladding applications
  • Low, medium and high rise applications.
  • Modular and offsite construction projects.
  • Higher risk buildings such as student accommodation, schools, hospitals, offices and care homes.
  • Steel and timber construction.
  • Residential and commercial developments.

Description

Protect FrameSafe 5000 FR is a high performance, Class A2 flame-retardant breather membrane, designed for use on the external side of the frame to integrate with open joint facade wall structures on low, medium and high rise buildings.

With the Building Regulations Approved Document B for fire safety requiring an external wall membrane to achieve at least a Class B fire rating for structures over 11 m in height, Protect FrameSafe 5000 FR exceeds this requirement. This ensures peace of mind and assurance in specification, being future proofed against future regulation changes.

Featuring an intricately woven glass fibre fabric with an exclusively developed waterproof and fire resistant coating, Protect FrameSafe 5000 FR is specifically designed for use in open facade cladding applications and provides a primary line of protection to the whole of the external wall during the construction process and once built ensures a second line of defence against rainwater penetration, whilst offering added protection against the propagation of fire.

Features and benefits:

  • Designed for use on low and medium rise structures over 11 m as well as tall building applications over 18m where open façade cladding or full rainscreen cladding systems are installed.
  • Fully compliant with EN 13501-1 and exceeds requirements in Building Regulations Approved Document B & Building Regulations Technical Guidance Document B in Ireland.
  • A2 reaction to fire classification to ensure suitability for all building heights.
  • Improves the fire performance of the overall wall structure.
  • Strong UV stability – exposure up to six months to suit high rise developments.
  • Artificial and accelerated UV ageing tested for 5000 hours, retaining Class W2 resistance to water penetration rating.
  • Class W2 (no leak) resistance to water penetration.
  • High water vapour permeability to help avoid condensation risk.
  • UKCA and CE marked.
  • Protect FR tape available separately to seal laps for complete system solution.
  • Fire tested by third party laboratory as a system with Protect FR tape, Protect FrameSafe 5000 FR achieves class A2-s1, d0 reaction to fire, ensuring integrity of product specification.
  • Advanced glass fibre fabric composition with added tensile strength and durability.
