Arbosil HM
Description

One part, high modulus, acetoxy cure silicone sealant which cures rapidly, on exposure to moisture vapour, to form a resilient elastic silicone rubber.

Can be used for sealing aluminium sheets and components.

Contains a fungicide to help reduce mould growth.

Not recommended for overpainting, or use against metal surfaces or natural stone.

Health and safety:

Avoid prolonged skin contact.

Technical data:

  • Typical Shore A hardness: 20.
  • Application temperature: +5°C to +50°C.
  • Service temperature: -50°C to +150°C.
  • Skinning time at 20°C and 65% relative humidity: 10 minutes.
  • Cure time at 20°C and 65% relative humidity: 2 mm per 24 hours.
  • Chemical resistance: Resistant to most alkalis and dilute acids. Organic solvents may cause the sealant to swell and lose adhesion, - but do not directly dissolve the sealant.
  • UV resistance: Very good.
  • Service life: 25+ years.

Movement accommodation:

  • Butt joints (movement in tension and compression): 25%. Movement not to exceed ± 20% in any one direction.
  • Lap joints (movement in shear): 50%. Movement not to exceed ± 40% in any one direction.

Joint sizes:

Width:

  • Minimum: 6 mm.
  • Maximum: 25 mm (single application); 35 mm (multiple applications).

Depth:

  • Minimum: 10 mm on porous substrates; 6 mm on non-porous substrates.
  • Maximum: 15 mm.

Width:depth ratio (within the above minimum/ maximum restrictions):

  • Butt joints: 2:1.
  • Lap or floor joints: 1:1.
