Application Instructions

Joint Preparation

The joint surfaces must be clean, dry and free from all contamination. Use ARBO Cleaners as appropriate. ARBO Primer 2650 is required on some substrates. Contact ARBO Technical Services for specific advice regarding primer and cleaner.

Joint Backing

Mineral wool or closed cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam.

All joint preparation, priming, and sealant application should be carried out in accordance with BS 8000 Part1 –6: 1997 + A1: 2010 the British Standard for the sealing of joints in buildings using sealants.

Ensure all use of Arbosil 1071 is within the scope of the fire tests and accords with joint seal dimensions, backing materials and any other considerations necessary to achieve a specific level of fire integrity. Copies of fire test reports are freely available from ARBO Technical Services.

25 x 380ml Polyethylene Cartridges per box. Polyethylene Nozzles are included in each box

Description

Used in expansion joints and other details to prevent the passage of fire. Recommended for use in sports stadiums where a fire seal is required. Fire resistance of up to 4 hours has been independently verified (details available on request from ARBO® Technical Services).

  • Not recommended for trafficked floor joints, overpainting, or use against natural stone.

Chemical resistance

Resistant to most dilute acids and alkalis; organic solvents may cause the sealant to swell and lose adhesion, but do not directly dissolve the sealant.

UV resistance

Very good.

Anticipated service life

25 years+.

Butt joints (movement in tension and compression): 50%.
