Basement Waterproofing - Waterproofing The Houses Of Parliament

Waterproofing this historic London landmark - external waterproofing with Newton 403 HydroBond, internal waterproofing with Newton System 500, installed by Newton Specialist Basement Contractor MacLennanUK. Externally, Newton’s innovative ‘Type A’ 403 HydroBond membrane was applied extensively to ensure the necessary waterproofing around the basement, whilst internally, Newton 508 and Newton 520 membranes were both applied from floor to ceiling as part of Newton’s complete System 500 cavity drainage solution.

Creating a Dry Basement for Paramedic Training, Surrey

To facilitate their exciting BSc Paramedic Science course, the University of Surrey identified that they needed more practical training space for their students. By working alongside Scott Brownrigg Architects, Newton Specialist Contractor Advanced Basements, and the Newton Technical Team, an extensive existing undercroft was converted into three large, dry rooms that are ideal for the purpose.

Creating a New Community Centre, North London

When a listed commercial basement in Temple Fortune was being transformed into a new community centre, Newton Specialist Contractor Arti Construction undertook the waterproofing. The basement is part of a four-storey Listed building that was built into the hillside, meaning three of the walls were either fully or partially below-ground and suffering from water penetration. Arti recommended the Newton CDM System, as it is the most safe and reliable form of waterproofing that would deliver a completely dry internal space and cause the minimal amount of disruption to the Listed structure.

Damp Proofing The Iconic Tower Bridge

Newton Specialist Contractors ASF Waterproofing were called in to investigate why the Bridge Master's Quarters at One Tower Bridge was suffering from damp and proceeded to install multiple Newton products to resolve the issue. ASF installed a new internal damp proof course by injecting Newton 804-DPC into the walls, then sealing with Newton 313-WP, before quickly and easily spraying Newton 103-S as a final barrier to water. Externally, the walls were thoroughly waterproofed with four coats of the flexible, resilient Newton 109-LM. For complete protection, the waterproofing began 1-metre below ground level.

Large Basement Extension at Impressive Country Home

An impressive basement extension, housing a swimming pool and sauna, required a robust waterproofing solution at this large country home. Newton Specialist Contractor Stonehouse expertly waterproofed the extensive underground basement by installing the Newton CDM System.

Listed Vault Waterproofing in Central London

Beneath the streets of Central London lies a network of Grade 2 Listed underground vaults. As Newton Specialist Contractors, Stonehouse were called in to waterproof four of these impressive structures and turn them into a completely dry commercial space. The four vaults were situated just North of the River Thames in Central London, a short walk from such famous landmarks as Smithfield Market and St Paul's Cathedral.

Luxury Basement Extension, South London

Considering the large size of the basement area and its proximity to the River Thames, Newton Specialist Contractor Stonehouse were called in to provide a complete waterproofing system for the structure.

Luxury New Hillside Home, North London

This stunning new-build with floor-to-ceiling glass panels is built into the hillside and thus required a robust waterproofing solution for failsafe protection. After the original property on this site in Barnet was demolished, construction began for a new building that could take full advantage of the stunning location. With floor-to-ceiling glass panels on one side of the property , this new-build is the best place to admire the views over London.

Movement Joint Resin Injection, London.

At this new-build shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush, West London, the new underground car park was experiencing high levels of water ingress through two movement joints that had failed. Newton Specialist Contractor ASF Waterproofing, who are specialists in injection resins and structural repair work, were therefore called in order to provide a quick solution and fix the leaking joints.

Newton System 500 flood mitigation controls the River Thames

This Thames property originally had a wet dock but this had been back filled and capped with a concrete floor. The client wished to use the ground floor as a bedroom, but during a recent flood the water level reached 500mm internally. Newton System 500 provided the ideal solution, by redirecting the water, rather than trying to hold water back – impossible under such pressurised conditions. Newton 508 Mesh was chosen for the walls, Newton 520 to the floor with a Newton Basedrain ring around the perimeter. Two Newton Titan Pro pump systems were used, including a battery back-up system

Newton Waterproofs the London School of Economics

Principal Contractor, Mace Group, appointed Newton Specialist Contractor Cast Contracting Ltd (CCL) to design and install the waterproofing to the Marshall Building of the London School of Economics. CCL recommended the Type C Newton CDM System as it is the safest and most reliable form of waterproofing. CCL prepared the extensive two-storey basement with Newton 906 Lime Inhibtor and Newton 103-S before installing over 2,250m2 of Newton 520 eco membrane to the floor and over 570m2 of Newton 508 membrane to create the Newton CDM System.

Saving a Grand Designs Basement from Complete Disaster - Waterproofing in East London

A young couple building their dream first home - and filmed by Channel 4’s Grand Designs - fell foul of rogue contractors when their site became a basement disaster. Excavations performed contrary to the Structural Engineer’s instructions resulted in the banks falling in beneath the street, whilst the shutters burst inwards under the weight of the compacted concrete. When the site was left in this condition, Newton recommended MJ Rooney to take on one of the trickiest challenges in their 30 years.

Structural Waterproofing - Christian Dior, New Bond Street

Internally and externally waterproofing the below-ground developments of the extended Christian Dior store on New Bond Street, with Newton 403 HydroBond, Newton 107F and Newton System 500. The property line construction between two existing buildings meant that there was a requirement for waterproofing both new and existing structural elements, including pile caps, underpinning, a new reinforced concrete slab, the existing foundations, and also existing vaulted areas at the front of the building which extend below New Bond Street.

Stunning Mill House Extension, Cornwall

This old Mill House in Cornwall has undergone a huge conversion and extension to become a luxurious five-bedroom home, protected by the failsafe Newton CDM System. Simon Williams purchased the 18th Century Water Mill in 2015 with a view to renovate, develop and extend the beautiful property, located in Blowinghouse just South of Perranporth, into his private residence.

Transforming the Royal College of Music, London

Newton Specialist Contractor MacLennan delivered a waterproofing solution to the iconic Royal College of Music in London. The project, spanning across five levels, was for major renovations to the college that saw advanced acoustic, air handling and climate control measures incorporated into the building. MacLennan designed and installed a Newton CDM System to deliver an entirely dry environment in the vast basements that would become auditoriums, a library, an atrium and music rooms, all with specific and bespoke requirements. The guaranteed waterproofing solution was completed within budget and one time by the expert team at MacLennan.

Waterproofing a 116-Bed Care Home, London

Hammerson House will be a world class, 116-bed residential centre for the elderly Jewish Community in Hampstead. Newton Specialist Contractor Cast Contracting Ltd (CCL) were approached during the planning stages to develop a comprehensive waterproofing solution for the extensive basement.

Waterproofing an Air Traffic Control Tower, Scotland

Heavy rainfall on the Orkney Islands meant that the basement room of Kirkwall Air Traffic Control Tower suffered from frequent flooding, with water levels reaching 1.2m at their highest point. Newton Waterproofing and Specialist Contractor Wise Basement Systems were called in to remove the existing water and then waterproof the structure to protect it from future flooding, all in just one week.

Waterproofing Historic Leaking Vaults at Imperial College, London

As part of their ongoing relationship with the Imperial College London, Newton Specialist Contractor A.P. Gooch was tasked with assessing and waterproofing 11 historic Victorian brick vaults beneath the streets of Kensington, London, after the existing competitor ‘waterproof render’ had failed. Following a full assessment of the vaults, A.P. Gooch decided that the best option was to install the tried and tested ‘failsafe’ Newton System 500 cavity drainage membrane solution in order to depressurise, capture and safely manage ingressing water away from the building.

Waterproofing London's most anticipated Private Residents Club, Earls Court, London.

This new build multi residential and commercial development in Earls Court, London will eventually stretch from Chelsea football ground to Kensington Olympia and comprises of over 800 multi-million pound luxury apartments, townhouses and penthouse suites, as well as London’s largest private residents’ club – 18,000 sq. ft of space including a lounge, library, private dining room, cinema, gym, spa facilities and 20 metre swimming pool with jacuzzi. Lillie Square Phase 1 required the formation of a water tight basement to house the residents club, Stonehouse Property Care joined the design team and provided a guaranteed waterproofing solution.

Waterproofing the London School of Economics

Newton Specialist Contractor Cast Contracting Ltd (CCL) took on the waterproofing at the large Mace Group project at the world-renowned London School of Economics. The project is an extensive, two-storey, mixed-use basement that will house plant areas, squash courts, changing facilities and a sports hall, covering a total of over 2,250m2 of floorspace. CCL recommended the Newton CDM System as it is the safest and most reliable form of waterproofing. Despite requiring dedicated delivery slots and and working to an extremely tight program of work, CCL completed the project well within the time limit.
