Leading retailer delighted with eco-busting new product. As a long-time client of INTRAsystems, Waitrose in Basingstoke trusted our products again when it came to refreshing their Entrance Matting.Looking to update their matting system, Waitrose were keen to try our latest and most sustainable Entrance Matting product. Opting for our new INTRAlink² product due to its sustainable qualities and market leading functionality, the 100% recycled PVC product was the perfect choice for a heavy footfall area. INTRAlink² is our latest innovative product that takes ease of installation to a whole new level. The modular Entrance Matting is a high-performance interlocking tile product made completely from recycled PVC, making it fully sustainable. We worked alongside installers Axiom Group who were really pleased with just how easy INTRAlink² is to install.“The system looks really nice, it’s easy to cut with a Stanley knife and glues down very well. The team like it a lot!”INTRAlink2 solves the root of the problem. For Waitrose Basingstoke, the main goal was to significantly reduce the risk of slips. Waitrose knew they needed a highly absorbent, heavy-duty product to be installed. Given there is a travellator that shoppers walk onto directly after passing over the Matting, avoiding high foot traffic carrying excess moisture onto the metal surface is essential to prevent slips. The 20 sq ft Mat Well was also located next to a trolley storage area. Because of this, the durability of our EPD certified INTRAlink² product a must. Waitrose had full faith in our product to supply exactly what they were looking for as a long-time corporate customer.Effectively Sustainable. Waitrose were keen to use the most sustainable products possible without compromising on functionality. Our INTRAlink² product was the obvious choice to cope with multi-directional traffic in a high footfall area. We created INTRAlink² with a 95% absorbent fibre surface coverage, making it hugely effective at removing dirt and absorbing moisture. Given its simplistic design, it’s incredibly easy to clean too! The 100% recycled PVC is a market first for Entrance Matting. We’re truly proud to be pushing the industry forward as we all strive for a greener, more sustainable future. The Store Supervisor at Waitrose Basingstoke was extremely pleased with the finished Entrance Matting product:“The quality of the INTRAlink² surface is leagues above the incumbent matting and looks to serve us well, particularly in wetter weather.”Our long-standing working relationship with Waitrose & Partners is something we truly value. It’s great to be able to provide such a loyal client with our most innovative product to date. We believe INTRAlink² can make waves in the industry for its efficiency, its aesthetic and of course, its highly sustainable materials.

Project Details: System: INTRAform DM and INTRAflowSpecification: INTRAform DM black finish with Elite Black 608 inserts. INTRAflow black with Elite Black 608 and Ribbed Rubber inserts in the revolving doors. Flooring Contractor: SDS MattingLocation: Temple Quay, BristolSpecifier: Darling AssociatesSustainable Solution for Bristol's First Net Zero All-Electric BuildingWelcome Building ® is a 207,000 sq ft office building a stone's throw from Temple Meads' railway station in Bristol. The sustainable design by Darling Associates boasts five sustainable certifications, including BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum. No surprise they contacted us about our sustainable Entrance Matting products to help boost their integration of responsibly sourced and recyclable materials. After exploring a few of our Entrance Matting products, they chose INTRAform DM for the main Entrance Mat and INTRAflow, with its open construction, for the two revolving doors. Both products are EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certified. Robust Revolving Door MattingRevolving doors have an exposed section which can suffer damage from excess water, dirt and gritting salts used in icy weather. That's why we suggested INTRAflow's open construction to allow water to drain more efficiently, preventing pooling on the surface and aid dirt scraping too. The external door section has Ribbed Rubber inserts while inside, alternating Ribbed Rubber and Elite inserts made from recycled nylon fibres. The building accommodates over 2,000 people plus visitors, so the revolving doors will be subjected to heavy and highly concentrated wear. We engineer the rubber inserts to scrape and remove large debris and dirt particles from shoes. Rubber is extremely hard-wearing, stands up to external contaminants, is easy to hose clean and protects the Elite fibres from compressing and losing performance effectiveness. Impressive Aesthetic and SustainabilityOnce inside the building, the Entrance Mat reaches 18m wide and 4m deep. INTRAform DM with Elite Black 608 fibre inserts continue uniformly. Darling Associates, in partnership with award-winning interior designers Hassell Studio, chose the black anodised finish for the 100% recycled aluminium. The linear effect is easy to produce with the interlocking INTRAform planks. The extra-long planks allow wide channels, even over the raised access floor system. Each section is just over 4.5m wide, with tapered sections at either end to match the building's footprint. Outstanding Performance as Usual INTRAform is extremely strong, hard-wearing, fully DDA compliant and easy to clean and maintain. No wonder why it's also used at Co-Op Live and Reading Green Park Railway Station. Elite fibres are an all-rounder with excellent scraping, moisture absorbing and sound dampening. This makes sure the Entrance Matting will look sharp for years to come and we provide a 10-year warranty for extra peace of mind. INTRAflow similarly is hard-wearing, 100% recycled and durable. Used here with an open construction, we also have a closed construction version. It's heavy-duty and ideal for exposed areas with high footfall levels because of its highly effective moisture removal and drainage. Eco-Friendly, Form, Flow and FunctionAll our Entrance Matting is compatible with raised access flooring and sustainability is core to our business, along with our unrelenting commitment to performance. We helped Darling Associates meet their ambitious sustainable and net zero targets for the Welcome Building®. Not only that, but the combination of products specified also provides a practical and high-performance welcome.

White Hart Lane

White Hart Lane

INTRAsystems

Officially opened in 1872, White Hart Lane cemented itself as the home of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. As part of the Northumberland Development Project to redevelop the White Hart Lane Stadium and regenerate the area, the station was also selected to be upgraded. The upgrade consisted of a new ticketing hall, adding two lifts for better access and an additional entrance to ease match day traffic. INTRAsystems worked with the client in supplying the Entrance Matting for White Hart Lane. INTRAform FR was installed as it uses the specialist FR (Fire Resistant) insert which also can withstand multi-directional traffic.

Project DetailsSystem: INTRAtechSpecification: INTRAtech with Elite Anthracite 607 insertsClient: YY LondonInstaller: SDS MattingLocation: South Colonnade, Canary WharfSustainable Focus at Flagship Canary Wharf RefurbishmentYY London, South Colonnade is a remarkable refurbishment of one of Canary Wharf's original buildings. Buckley Gray Yeoman's (BGY) vision 'reduced the overall energy demand of the building by 62%, and saved 10.260 tonne CO2' by renewing instead of demolishing. It is certified BREEAM Outstanding and WELL platinum. Redefining the Possibilities for Old BuildingsBGY carefully chose materials throughout the scheme for their sustainability, performance and aesthetics. But, one of the critical practical considerations for the Entrance Matting was compatibility with raised access flooring. After using INTRAtech to great visual effect in another project, they understood it would look fantastic and perform well. But they were thrilled that it could coordinate with raised access flooring and fulfil all the projects sustainability criteria as well. Cut to ShapeAs INTRAtech could be cut to the desired shape, it offered BGY greater design opportunities. It meant they could more efficiently achieve the curved shape, which reflects the organic form of the building's footprint. The design repeats curved shapes across the building but culminates in zonal flooring materials and mirrored ceiling panels in the entrance lobbies. We produced detailed drawing and supplied pre-made larger panels, labelled clearly for easier installation. This helped to ensure we accommodated floor service panels and made transport and handling more efficient. Bonus Points for PracticalityBoth entrances have service panels in the raised access flooring, so for easy access for maintenance and servicing, small sections of the Entrance Matting can be lifted. But the building welcomes 100s of visitors to office and retail spaces each day, so the Entrance Matting must endure constant comings and goings. INTRAtech has an open construction to allow water and dirt to drain away efficiently,, so is ideal for the revolving doors. Thanks to its modular square frame, it has the benefit of withstanding multi-directional traffic. Whichever direction a visitor moves, the fibres remain uptight in the square module, so INTRAtech Entrance Matting can efficiently absorb, clean and protect - time after time, after time. Sustainable as StandardBGY chose INTRAsystems for our unrivalled whole-life environmental commitments and proven product application. INTRAtech is made from recycled aluminium and combined with Econyl 100% recycled nylon inserts, the units are fully recyclable. BGY chose the Elite inserts in Anthracite 607 to complement the lobbies' neutral palette and provide greater design choices for tenants in the Cat A fit-out. INTRAsystems Elite fibre inserts are a great all-rounder for dirt scraping and moisture removal but boast excellent sound absorption, making it an ideal choice in this vast open-plan, double-heigh setting. Repurpose and RefitBy selecting INTRAtech, BGY galvanised their commitment to sustainable materials in the environmentally conscious design. Plus, INTRAtech delivered high-performance and design continuity for this prestigious setting, along with long-term practicality for raised access flooring. The entire project highlights the design potential of retrofit and sets the standards for what's practically possible with ageing buildings.

Zonal Entrance Mat Design at 338 Euston Road

Zonal Entrance Mat Design at 338 Euston Road

INTRAsystems

With all-glass revolving doors and vast glazing panels, the INTRAform DM entrance matting at 338 Euston Road appears to flow seamlessly from inside to out. Encompassing the angled and recessed doorway, the external matwell continues the line of the interior mat to square. This interesting combination of internal and external matting creates a highly practical design feature. Zonal entrance matting system Using INTRAform DM with differing inserts in the internal and external zones, the architect has created a two-stage zonal system. In zone 1 external, the matting is inset with multidirectional rubber which scrapes away excess dirt and moisture from footwear and wheels. With the entrance on the corner of the building, the flexible rubber fins ensure performance, whichever the direction of approach. In the primary mat, (zone 2, internal), the profiles are inset with highly absorbent INTRAlux Elite polyamide fibre. These inserts remove and retain any remaining dirt and moisture to ensure a safe and slip-free entrance. With the revolving door sheltered within the recess, the matting here is also inset with fibre. Made from 100% Econyl regenerated nylon fibre and capable of absorbing 5.4l/m2, INTRAlux Elite is both a practical and sustainable choice. Minimal design, maximum impact The INTRAlux Elite fibre in Grey 606 matches tonally with the multidirectional rubber. The oversized entrance matting panels lessen the use of diving t-bars. While the positioning of the t-bars has been carefully planned to align with the threshold. Along with the glazed façade, these elements help maximise the impact of the architect’s design, to create a stunning entrance.
