Constructed in the early 80s by Arup Associates, 1 Finsbury Avenue has been carefully redeveloped as part of its evolution from single occupancy into a mixed-use offering. Behind the grade 2 listed bronze façade, work included the re-establishment of pedestrian access through the ground floor to reconnect the building with Finsbury Avenue Square and the wider neighbourhood. The bright, bold work of artist Morag Myerscough featured in this lower atrium echoes the lines of the façade. To match the interior aesthetic, black anodised INTRAflow entrance matting was specified for both East and West entrances.
10 Brock Street

As the centrepiece to British Land’s regeneration of Regents Place, 10 Brock Street is a distinctive 16 storey, 320,000 sq ft landmark office development in the heart of London. Completed in 2013, the building achieved the coveted BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating thanks to a number of features, including rainwater harvesting system and combined heat and power systems. British Land’s property management company, Broadgate Estates, approached INTRAsystems to remove and replace the three entrance mats at the front and rear entranceways. Find out more

Formerly home to the Margolin gramophone Factory, 112 old street has been fully redeveloped to provide an expansive 27,000sq ft office space. Retaining its original, elegant Victorian façade, it has been fully redeveloped and is split over five floors offering the perfect balance of flexibility and style. 201 Bishopgate is a well-known landmark and part of the Broadgate Estates portfolio. INTRAsystems installed the INTRAflex high performance Entrance Matting when the building was originally built, and were pleased to also install the replacement matting in early 2014. Effective removal of dirt and moisture is essential to the building, helping ensure protection of the existing floor coverings and safety for every visitor. The INTRAflex XT Entrance Matting was installed to the shaped Main Entrance matwell (faceted matting panels to suit the curved building façade) and to the trapezium shaped rear entrance.

24-25 Grosvenor Street in Mayfair offers high-quality office space. Having been completely reconstructed behind its imposing double fronted period façade in the 1980’s, the building underwent a major back-to-frame refurbishment in 2018 to modernise the space. With two entrances to work with, the contractor needed a high-quality entrance matting system that would befit its location, whilst also providing superior performance from a relatively small area of matting. Two bespoke entrance designs were created to complement the aesthetics using INTRAdisc bronze capsules and INTRAform Double Module cut directly into the ceramic flooring.

Three Pancras Square is a Grade A office building located at the corner of King’s Boulevard and Goods Way. The building is part of a two million sq ft cluster of 12 office buildings south of the Canal. Six tube lines, two mainline stations and Eurostar are within a two-minute walk. Working with the architect we helped them in specifying the our flagship INTRAflex XT Entrance Matting. We chose a design that would blend in well with the buildings character and add tremendous aesthetic value.

Nestled between listed buildings in the heart of London with views over St Paul’s, this 108,000 sq ft cutting-edge office building was designed for maximum sustainability. In designing the building, PLP Architecture was mindful that their spatial and material approach should also be directly informed by these prestigious adjacencies. With sustainability and heritage at the forefront of the design, we worked with Aedas Architects, to specify INTRAform Double Module Entrance Matting with a bronze anodised finish and anthracite fibre insert for the 10,000 sq ft grand entrance. 6 More London Place is a striking six-story office building clad in red and steel located on the More London development at London Bridge City. Designed by Foster and Partners the building is occupied by the likes of, Ernst & Young, Kantar and TNS. There are also five retail units occupied by Cafè Nero, EAT, Leon, M&S Simply Food and much more. INTRAsystems worked with the client in installing our INTRAform Drainable Entrance Matting system which not only addresses the aesthetics of the building and safety of its occupants but also helps in keeping the cleaning costs down

A New Angle in Entrance Matting Design at Landmark, Manchester

To complement the atrium’s strong linear aesthetic the architect specified INTRAform DM Low Profile entrance matting in silver finish. In a striking design statement, the entrance mat is rotated from square, creating an angular extension of matting towards the reception desk. This unique positioning helps to both guide visitors towards reception whilst simultaneously orientating itself towards the main traffic flow of the building.

Abbey Wood station is a recent development delivered by Network Rail as part of the Crossrail Project. The striking new station building, and concourse marks the start of the transformation of transport links from Abbey Wood to travel right through central London to Paddington. Having opened its first UK store in Birmingham in 1990, Aldi has grown to over 800 stores nationwide. The supermarket chain has opened a new ‘local’ in Camden and converted a further 6 stores to the ‘local’ format. For its newest ‘Local’, Aldi specified INTRAflow Plus with hard wearing ribbed rubber and INTRAlux Elite inserts in anthracite to provide a flexible, durable, yet cost effective solution. INTRAflow Plus can be used in both Zone 1 external and Zone 2 internal areas, making it a perfect choice for busy supermarkets with automatic doors that frequently open to the elements.

To create safe and hygienic entrances at the new £65m Balfour Hospital in Orkney, architects specified INTRAform DM with a combination of inserts. The state-of-the-art rural general hospital serves the entire 21,000 strong population of the islands. With a traditional need for shelter against extreme weather conditions, a robust entrance matting system is essential to ward against slips. To create an effective barrier, the multiple entrances at The Balfour Hospital use a combination of fibre and rubber inserts within a single aluminium recessed system.

Maida Vale Studios is a complex of seven BBC sound studios of which five are in regular use. Since its launch in 1934, the studio has been used to record thousands of classical music, and dramas for popular radio channels such as BBC Radio 1/2/3 etc. It has also been the home to BBC Symphony Orchestra. Completed in 1958, Bracken House was built as the headquarters and printworks of the Financial Times – the Hollington Staffordshire pink sandstone cladding cleverly matching the newspaper’s distinctive salmon pink pages. John Robertson Architects has since undertaken a sensitive renovation to create a space for the 21st century whilst reconciling the two architectural styles. Using INTRAform DM, this back-to-frame Grade A office refurbishment features three bold horizontal stripes of entrance matting to make a striking first impression on visitors. The double-width fibre inserts within the system provide superior dirt and moisture absorption and retention. While the use of the dark-coloured INTRAlux Linear anthracite fibre hides soiling and provides a strong visual contrast to the stone floor.

Perfectly blending into its surroundings, the entrance matting at 22 Bishopsgate helps create a blank canvas to showcase the contemporary artwork adorning the foyer. At the main entrances, INTRAflex XT is used in the primary matting area, while a combination of INTRAflex XT and INTRAflex Radial are used within the revolving doors. The mats all feature INTRAlux Linear fibre inserts in Grey 451 to match tonally with the floor.
