Canada Water

OVERVIEW

The Dock Shed at Canada Water is a contemporary waterfront development designed to provide a striking architectural landmark while complementing the site’s historic dockside character. The scheme required a durable, modern façade solution that could withstand the demanding urban environment while delivering a sharp, clean aesthetic.

The design team needed a façade and soffit system that could achieve:

  • A bold, uniform finish to emphasise the architectural form.
  • Resistance to weathering and long-term durability in a waterfront location.
  • A lightweight, easy-to-install cladding system suitable for soffits as well as vertical elevations.

Vulcan Cladding Systems supplied VulcaLap® aluminium rainscreen cladding in a black finish, specified for both the soffits and façade.

  • The system provided a consistent, elegant appearance across multiple surfaces.
  • The black VulcaLap® accentuated the building’s sharp lines and modern form.
  • Aluminium construction ensured long-term resistance to corrosion and minimal maintenance.
  • Quick installation supported the programme requirements of the contractor.

The completed Dock Shed successfully blends industrial heritage with a bold, modern identity. VulcaLap® black cladding played a key role in achieving a uniform architectural finish, delivering durability, aesthetics, and design flexibility.
