OVERVIEW
The Bolonachi development comprises of 139 residential apartments, ranging from 1-3 bedrooms and a small commercial element. The project won a number of awards including RTPI Awards 2011 – Commendation for sustainable communities, Housebuilder award 2010 – Best Regeneration Project, HCA Awards 2010 – Quality of Place. The scheme includes an impressive 8-story lobby with a membrane roof allowing natural daylight.
Vulcan were called in by Martin Arnold to replace all existing timber balustrading, handrails in the entrance lobby, including all vertical timber bars in the external courtyard. We had the bespoke balustrade panels fire tested to ensure the glue line, essential to give like-for-like appearance, did not compromise the Class A2 fire rating.
Working closely with Martin Arnold we were able to come up with solutions to directly replace existing timber with A2 fire rated aluminium with wood finish, giving a stunning finish and enhancing the award winning design. Delivery was carried out in stages over a period of 6 months. The client has been back a year after it was completed, and there were no snags to do!
