A systematic approach of arresting and reducing the flow of water within a cavity wall prior to any change in status of that wall helps balance demands on damp protection measures. In the case of a circular window passing through a curved cavity wall, protecting against damp ingress is easily achieved using a preformed Type K cavitray. The preformed Cavitray is curved to match the wall. Conventional flat material or roll material cannot uniformly match the radius of a wall.

Our double point movable walls allow the panels to stack away in a concealed recessed pocket to give a clear room and flexible spaces. The chosen finish was foamed backed 12mm stretched fabric Kvadrat. Colour name: Remix 3 123 both sides (flame retardancy) with concealed edge profiles, therefore giving the finest attention to detail. Structure opening was 4.5m wide and 2.7m high and consisted of 3 standard panels and 1 telescopic closure panel. The new generation of M-Tray® modules were used on this office building in Poklington, Yorkshire. This project was in the heart of the Vale of Yorkshire, within and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and planning sensitivities dictated a green roof was needed on the office building. The clients wanted the existing farm buildings, which had been converted into offices and storage space, to blend into the hillside with the structures having the very lowest impact on the surrounding countryside.The timber framed building meant a low weight solution was required so the 100mm deep pre-grown modules were ideal.

Calibre based in Warrington provide the food industry with food testing technology to ensure quality and safety. Calibre are all about exceeding standards and quality and they needed their environment to do that too. The walls of their testing labs walls used to be painted in white. They soon became very dusty and dirty making the environment look unhygienic and uninviting to their clients and staff.

The headquarters of companies are usually established in city centres close to important transport links. The natural landscape and the wide horizon perspective are not usually associated with office buildings. Troldtekt 100% wood wool acoustic panels have been used to dramatic effect at London’s famous Open Air Theatre in Regents Park. A newly-constructed rehearsal building, designed by architects Reed Watt, comprises a stunning double-height dance and rehearsal studio in its centre encircled by offices, kitchen and green room. Troldtekt wood wall panelling in natural grey also complement the natural setting while helping to dampen and keep reverberated sound to a minimum. The rehearsal studio has been acoustically rated so that the maximum noise level that can happen in the studio before being audible outside is 100dB.

Peacehaven Wastewater Treatment Works, Southern Water’s £300m, state of the art wastewater treatment works services the Brighton and Hove catchment area. Located at Lower Hoddern Farm in Peacehaven, East Sussex, UK, the works treats 95 million litres of wastewater a day. It features the UK’s largest green roof of its kind, supported by TATA Steel RoofDek covering an area of almost two and a half football pitches.The project also utilised wall cladding from TATA Steel, the Trisobuild C19 profile was supplied for its attributes and robust guarantee in 200/200 double sided HPS 200 Ultra.

Biotecture worked with Balfour Beatty Living Places and Southampton City Council to create a magnificent and welcoming feature on the Millbrook roundabout, a key gateway to the city. The UK's first highways living walls are also helping improve air qualityin Southampton. The ten freestanding living wall structures are situated below the Millbrook fly over, one of the city's busiest roads.

Offering a futuristic office environment, Vedanta Resources Ltd, the global mining and metals company, has totally re-vamped their London HQ. Helping transform the offices, partitioning experts Style added flexibility to the space with a combination of advanced operable wall systems. Two 54dB Rw acoustic moveable walls form a corridor, creating a stunning hall of mirrors with pass doors into spacious meeting rooms. Three Skyfold Zenith vertical-rising walls divide those rooms into smaller work areas. An additional partition splits the main boardroom, creating work space for the chairman. The entire area can be opened out for large corporate functions.

Hush Acoustics has successfully addressed a party wall noise problem for a homeowner in north London through the installation of its slimline HD1041 acoustic wall system, improving sound insulation without significantly compromising the room size.The owner of the semi-detached house in Hackney, contacted Hush to find a solution that would enhance the acoustic performance of a separating wall, ultimately improving the quality of life for their neighbours.The properties suffered from inadequate acoustic control within their original construction, allowing everyday sounds to pass through the party wall and become clearly audible next door.The brick wall in this particular case lacked the necessary mass and density to block sound waves generated by speech and activities like children playing. As a result, the noise disturbance caused stress and anxiety for the neighbours.Key to homeowner’s wishes was a solution that would not significantly reduce the size of the room. While retrofitting the wall with acoustic treatment would naturally increase its depth, the client understood the trade-off between volume reduction and improved soundproofing.Hush proposed three fully tested acoustic wall systems, each offering varying build-up thicknesses and sound reduction levels ranging from good to better and best. After thorough discussions between the Hush team and the homeowner, it was agreed that the Hush HD1041 Acoustic Wall Lining System would deliver the optimal solution. This system utilises a combination of high-performing acoustic materials, resulting in a wall lining that is only 55mm deep.A local contractor completed the installation of the acoustic wall system, with Hush providing full technical support and supervision throughout the process.Expressing their satisfaction with the improvements delivered by the system’s installation, the client said:“We have completed the work on the wall, and the results are excellent. The neighbours can barely hear anything now, and they no longer get disturbed when my son is up in the middle of the night. A heartfelt thank you to you and the team.”

This contemporary style, five-bedroom detached house commands a floor area of 10,000sq ft and includes an indoor swimming pool together with gym and leisure facilities. Rear facing, the property has been constructed on raised land that slopes down to a natural stream with breath-taking countryside views beyond.Following the initial design with the architect, TECHNAL provided a full NBS specification for the aluminium systems with typical through sections and full thermal value calculations, as well as budget budget pricing pre-tender to ensure an accurate tender package.

Developed as three separate buildings, the existing tower is being refurbished as high quality apartments with offices and retail, whilst the podium is being replaced with new offices and roof garden. With a fully glazed lobby, a reduced and rationalized core cased in luscious marble and innovative dark bronze-cased windows which sit in the steel frame. The building will be 80% more energy efficient when complete. Effisus Ecofacade Pre-fab Profiles were used to seal façade connections – not only to protect the building from water damage, but also to improve building airtightness and energy efficiency.

Biotecture worked with architects, Urban Innovations, to design and deliver 690m2 of living wall on a multi-story car park in Coventry. The introduction of this expansive living wall helped to satisfy planning concerns and creates a striking feature on what might have otherwise been a blank wall. The living walls at Cannon Park feature a bold planting design creating a three-dimensional ‘wave’ or ‘drift’ aesthetic that will become more prominent as the plants mature. The design highlights Biotecture’s ability to match plant choice and design to client requirements.

Edinburgh City CouncilChampioned as one of the most progressive cities in the UK (and one of the largest) Edinburgh is home to more than 500,000 constituents and an impressive EV fleet of over 150 decarbonised cars, vans, and buses for the dedicated use of the council. With no plans to slow down anytime soon; dedicating themselves to becoming a completely Net Zero city in the next six years.ScopeThanks to funding from Zero Waste Scotland, the council will be welcoming new electric refuse collection vehicles (eRCVs) as part of their goal to electrify the council’s entire fleet by the end of 2024. The new 20 tonne vehicles will help the city to expand their recycling facilities and better support their constituents’ needs.To support the growth of their EV fleet, the council felt the need to expand their chargepoint network, and came to Rolec to devise a plan. New vehicles mean new charging requirements, specifically in this case, the council were looking for ultra-rapid chargers, with the scope to deliver charge to these larger vehicles.The chargers also had to account for the difference in vehicle height and dimensions and therefore needed to be fit with longer than standard cables. Furthermore, with the ever-growing nature of their EV fleet, the council also prioritised chargepoints that could be scaled-up as and when the need arose. SolutionRolec provided Edinburgh City Council with 10 x 80kW UltraCharge 160 chargepoints, each with extended 7m cables and capable of being upgraded to up to 160kW at a later date. Creating a robust and scalable charging network capable of handling the needs of these larger EVs. All of which is backed up by an extended hardware warranty provided by Rolec.They also opted for OCPP 1.6-J hardware to allow them even more freedom with their back-office. Giving the council the opportunity to trial Monta’s software, with the capacity to revert back to ChargePlace Scotland if they wish in the future. Benefit The EV hardware provided by Rolec means the council will be able to meet their environmental aims on two fronts: delivering expanded recycling services to their constituents and cutting fleet carbon emissions at the same time. "We are forever encouraged by local councils who put sustainability at the forefront of what they do, and Edinburgh City Council is no exception. The Margam Green Energy Plant is a long-term, multi-million pound investment into the Welsh economy to help meet the country’s renewable energy targets whilst also strengthening the country’s energy security. A durable concrete was required for the storage silo that housed wood chip to feed the plant.For this project Tarmac suggested their TOPROC SY be used as an overlay on the finished concrete slab as a protective high strength screed. TOPROC SY comprises a micro-silica mix with steel and macro fibres designed to give high levels of abrasive and impact resistance. This product is highly suited to heavy industrial areas such as container handling, metal recycling, waste, loading bays and any other aggressive environments. The main benefit is extended length of time the product will perform compared with traditional concrete therefore saving cost on continual replacement.

Biotecture designed and installed this stunning internal living wall for a private client in Peckham as part of a full house re-model. Biotecture worked closely with the Architect Neil Dusheiko to create a lush living wall that contributed to the client’s aspiration for a ‘spa-like retreat’. In 2013, The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) announced plans for a multi-million pound refurbishment of the No.1 Court, famous as the second largest Show Court used for The Championships, Wimbledon. Included in the plans was the installation of two living walls, one each side of the Big Screen facing Aorangi Terrace, commonly known as ‘the Hill’. To achieve this landscape vision Biotecture was appointed to work with the AELTC on the design, planting, installation and maintenance of the living walls.

London Brick Multi and White wall panels were specified in the design for a new café at Battersea. Chosen for their natural textures and features, the panels help create real atmosphere. Produced from original walls, Vtec panels contain in excess of 50% natural pigments, oxides and minerals. They're lightweight enough to be used almost on any type of structure, as well as being strong and highly durable - perfect for high traffic areas. Panels were installed either side of Arches, mounted on false walls. Large panel size achieved wall coverage quickly and easily with concealed joints for a seamless finish.

As buyers seek out washrooms that are not only functional but inspirational, it’s never been more important for developers to add real value to new projects. We supplied and fitted a combination of Wall Protection solutions at St Ninian’s High School in East Renfrewshire, reducing the impact of scuffs and scrapes in the school’s corridors, improving its internal appearance and enhancing the environment. “We were looking for a way to deal with wear and tear and how to keep the school in pristine condition, particularly after the refurbishment of certain areas,” explains Anne O’Neill, Business Support Manager at St Ninian’s. “It was clear that a new approach was needed, so we contacted Gradus about their wall protection solutions.”

Akari Care, a nationwide residential care home provider, enlisted Crown to create a uniform refurbishment programme for its extensive portfolio of properties last year. Crown Paints Colour Service created six new dementia friendly colour schemes include mauve, pink, turquoise, natural, green, citrus and terracotta. Crown Trade Clean Extreme Antibacterial Durable Acrylic Eggshell will be used in the kitchens.

Gradus has supplied and fitted a range of wall protection solutions as part of the £16m newly built Bitterne Park School in Southampton. The new school includes 80 new teaching classrooms, a purpose-built assembly hall/theatre, a new dining space with a fully fitted kitchen and purpose built fully fitted classrooms to house the students as part of their Food and Nutrition studies.

The living wall at the new Postal Museum in London demonstrates ground-breaking living wall technology with the integration of 5 post boxes within a 21m × 3m elevation consisting of 3,468 plants in the freestanding vertical garden structure.

The main hall at Bohunt, a state-of-the-art secondary school in Wokingham, benefits from superbly adaptable space thanks to a contemporary DORMA Hüppe Variflex operable wall, installed by UK supplier, Style. Meeting the demand for a system with a particularly narrow stacking solution, the Variflex incorporates panels and pass doors that can be as little as 976mm wide, as opposed to the more standard 1200mm width. Recognising a high level of commitment to craftmanship in the finishes and interiors section, Style recently won their 10th Gold in the prestigious FIS Contractor’s awards.

The Lindner Group played a major role in the interior fit-out: Partition walls made of wood and glass – including Lindner Logic 100 Timber, Lindner Life Pure 620 and Lindner Life Clear – separate the rooms elegantly. A wide variety of prints turn the glass partitions into individual eye-catchers. The Lindner Free Timber wall covering ensures a harmonious appearance of the walls. The doors with wooden or glass door leaves blend in perfectly with the walls and have been fitted with Lindner Plus aluminium frames, wooden stick frames and door handles. There is also a Lindner special solution in the building: around 75 m² of Lindner Life Pure 620 was installed as rounded glazing. One of our latest projects which has been installed and tested has made us particularly proud and set a new standard in acoustic movable walls.The requirements on this project were clear and simple with very specific needs for one of the leading pharmaceutical companies and we were going to tackle it head on. A movable acoustic wall with radiation protection for a research and testing environment needing to maximise flexibility while still offering the safety and protection required in a radiology environment.Our Type 100SE semi-electrically operated movable wall was developed and tailor-made for this requirement; with X-Ray protection and specialised seals to ensure the ground-breaking radiation protection and acoustic levels would be achieved. Each wall weighed in the region of circa 6 tons and the top hung system was fitted with our Type “K“ track which allows for remote and varied stacking locations. The walls varied in width and height but were all finished in Rigato Formica laminate with aluminium protective edge trims. The vision panels in the pass doors were fitted with Med-X type single glazed glass between two layers of 4mm thick toughened glass.

Precast concrete Groundwall L-Shaped retaining wall panels, designed and manufactured by Whites Concrete (part of the Naylor Group) with a special rock face finish to blend in with existing surroundings have replaced an integral part of a cemetery wall structure in Wigan.

Architect: Scenario Architecture. This beautiful Victorian villa received an innovative green-roofed extension full of natural light thanks to IDSystems installed bifold doors, gable end glazing, rooflights, window and door. The challenge for Scenario Architecture was to design an extension that was filled full of natural light, took into account the changing floor levels of the property. Under the pitched roof, the gable end glazing has been designed to perfectly match the profiles of the SUNFLEX SF75 bifold doors, whilst the inclusion of a single access door allows the extension to angle away to create a larger kitchen/dining area.
