2-6 Cannon Street is a high-end new build commercial office building located in the City of London. Alfresco Floors were commissioned by Frost Landscape Construction to supply and install the GRAD decking and rail systems, which were supported by the Buzon pedestal system. This was a particularly challenging project as steel planters were strategically located in the middle of the roof terrace so installation had to be carried out around the numerous planters. The finished outdoor space at 2-6 Cannon Street provides office workers with a unique roof top terrace.

SAS International provided the metal ceiling solution for one of the world’s greatest law firms based in Dublin, Pinsent Masons. White SAS150 was installed in the building’s commercial office space, as the product enables full service accessibility. This is an invaluable factor which futureproofs interiors in times to come. Other SAS products included SAS740, which was placed in meeting rooms to maintain a linear effect throughout the space. Shortlisted for a prestigious Fit Out Award Ireland - Fit Out Project of the Year – Medium Office, SAS are very proud to have worked on this build.

Creating highly adaptable working space, Style has installed four Dorma moveable wall systems to the Berkshire offices of a world leading multinational pharmaceutical and life sciences company. The semi-automatic partitions can be used to quickly divide a laboratory learning facility as well as office space, creating smaller areas or opening up the area as required. For this high-spec project, Style worked with architects, Perkins and Will, and contractor, Tetris Bluu. Finished in a blue fabric combined with magnetic white boards, the semi-automatic operation walls are both functional and practical.

In Clerkenwell, McLaren constructed a new office building with a basement to provide a total 97,000 sq ft of office space. McLaren utilized the existing basement structure which meant the exterior of the structure wasn't accessible. This meant that it was appropriate to use a cavity drain system. FIS worked closely with Henry Construction Projects and Veretec to provide a complete waterproofing service. Designing a system to fit around the existing structure was the challenge. In the former offices of media giant The Guardian, in a building dubbed The Ray, a newly imagined set of offices is now complete. The Ray is now home to one of the most prevalent business-orientated social media websites in the world, LinkedIn. Walk the surrounding area to find London headquarters of major players such as Tesco, Kurt Geiger and Save the Children UK. In keeping with this, The Ray’s latest update boasts some of the most adventurous bespoke design in recent years.

Parkeray’s new HQ at 24 King William Street is an open-plan office space, offering their employees a great space for collaborative working and client’s meetings. They were looking for a high-capacity under-counter system with a matching mixer tap to complement their stylish kitchen space, suitable for bottle filling as well. Parkeray went ahead with two of the Billi Quadra Sparkling Plus in Matte Black with matching drainage fonts, providing boiling and chilled filtered water and paddle mixer taps, dispensing hot and cold filtered water to the impressive new office space.

The Royal College of Pathologists have relocated their London Headquarters to the rapidly changing area of Aldgate, on the Eastern fringes of the city. The new seven storey structure replaces an existing office block, providing a flexible and environmentally efficient building to house their growing needs. The building design includes major conference facilities, meeting rooms, offices, a multi-function auditorium, exhibition space, restaurant facilities and accommodation. Cordek were asked by the specialist concrete frame contractor Oliver Connell & Son to devise a formwork system to allow the construction of ribbed concrete floors.

When Booking.com decided to move their offices to a prime location in Central London, they required a full fit-out. They appointed HLW International, who specified Billi Taps for their main kitchen area, and another tea-point within the office space. Booking.com opted for Billi Quadra Plus 15. With a drainage font in chrome and a gloss finish, the tap delivers instant boiling and chilled water from an XL lever tap at just a touch of a finger, and hot and ambient from a second sink mixer tap – all this from a single under counter boiler unit.

Havas Media Group is a global network of entertainment, media and communications agencies, that has recently opened its new ‘HKX’ village in Pancras Square, London to unite twenty-four of its UK operations in a stunning new European headquarters. Given the nature of the fast-moving office environment at Havas, the combination of 14,000m2 raised access floors and 3,000m2 of Attiro magnetic engineered timber (supplied by Fieldmans, one of Kingspan’s supply and install partners) allows for the easy reconfiguration of office layouts and furniture, as well as providing instant access to the underfloor void.

In this particularly narrow washroom layout, the Unity, full height,inline cubicle design served as a space saver. Accessed with doors on the side, rather than face on, the walls absorb the depth of the cubicle, maintaining a spacious environment. The finished washroom boasted a fresh, contemporary space which met all initial requirements. The client was particularly pleased with “the sleek look of everything”.

Sustainable construction was placed at the core of the first Enterprise Zone office development at Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park (LUSEP). Featuring TECHNAL aluminium curtain walling, windows and door systems with the curtain walling extruded using Hydro CIRCAL® 75R contributing to reducing the building's carbon footprint and helped to achieve the BREEAM Very Good rating awarded. This £22 million project begin in February 2019 and comprises of a 7,500 sqm nett area. four-storey building which houses the headquarters for the leading software company, The Access Group. When completed in November 2020, the office development, funded by Leicestershire County Council, is said to be the largest, single-occupier office deal in Leicestershire.The TECHNAL team were approached to offer specification solutions to suit the aesthetics and meet the technical requirements of the project. Designed around a central core with a linking wing either side, aluminium Curtain Walling spans vertically, with the facade also incorporating aluminium casement windows and doors. 

The Government Hub, New Waverley, can be found in Edinburgh’s Old Town. Going up to seven storeys high and nearly 3000 people working within, it is a large and dynamic building.The modern New Waverley Grade A offices are situated in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, forming part of the World Heritage Zone. Offering 250,000 square feet of space, the office serves as a government hub, housing nearly 3000 civil servants from 11 different departments.ChallengeWith a large amount of employees and visitors needed access to New Waverley’s offices every day for different purposes, it was key for the client to have something in place that could control the flow of authorised users getting in and out. A 1950’s office building has been transformed into a luxury apartment complex with a major refurbishment featuring insulated plasterboard and soffit insulation.

The conversion and refurbishment of existing offices into a new interventional radiology department, consisting of; six enclosed recovery bays, a nurses’ station, and an accessible toilet.

Anaconda Cut, also known as 100 Greengate, is a 44 storey apartment building. Situated next to the River Irwell, it is the tallest building in the City of Salford and one of the tallest in Greater Manchester.It is home to 349 elegant rental apartments, including luxury penthouses. Artform were asked to provide external seating, tables & planters for 2 roof terraces. Our popular range of out-sider products were considered due to the lightweight nature for manoeuvring, material durability and a wide range of colour options.A key factor in the design discussion was the end client's concerns regarding the use of timber products for a variety of reasons, including maintenance resulting in alternative materials being sourced. One of the key benefits of the Loop range of products is that they don't need to be permanently fixed down and can also be filled with either sand or in this instance water, adding ballast weight, taking a product with an initial weight of 37kg to in excess of 250kg.

A recently completed residential complex in the centre of London is where you will find this magnificent building which has been finished to the highest standard. The reception area is welcomed by a circular entrance with a pool of water at the centre. The stone that's been used is a pale cream and the metal work is a light bronze. We provided the pull door handles which complement the colours and materials used. The have been finished in a dark bronze adding a dramatic entrance across the front of the building and on the main entrance. You can find a range of finishes which we offer across a range of products. The front of the building benefits from planted up areas which breaks up the hard lines, this along with the curved stone seated areas creates a pleasant place to sit and sip a coffee. There have also made great use of lighting in the main lobby area and the reception is grand and welcoming. The style of our handles used are Ash 103.

The iroko timber was specifically chosen as untreated to slowly age to a uniform grey.The prestige white smooth finish of the street furniture is designed to have timeless appeal. All the street planters are hand cast using artisan precast concrete techniques refined over Townscapes 47-year history. The constructor was Maylim.

Composite Decking - Interlocking Dura Deck Tiles | Case StudyThe RHS Chelsea Flower Show is a renowned annual garden exhibition held for five days each year by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in Chelsea, London.Gorilla Carts and Kiosks were chosen to supply anti-slip modular flooring to enable safe access around the food courts. Using the innovative fast-fit interlocking Dura Deck Tile product designed and manufactured by Dura Composites, Gorilla Carts and Kiosks were able to quickly and easily install hundreds of square metres of outdoor flooring which provided clear demarcation of pedestrian standing and seating areas. Anti-slip, durable, and with an attractive woodgrain composite timber finish, the tiles interlock quickly and easily for set up and removal – and can be laid on virtually any existing hardstanding to create a simple decked area.

True Potential celebrate a contemporary new look for their headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne. Created by Ward Robinson Design, the smart and agile workspace provides mixed work settings including desks, quiet areas and collaboration zones. EGGER woodgrain reproduction H3430 ST22 White Aland Pine was used throughout the project in matching laminate, door size laminate, MFC and ABS edging. The hard-wearing properties of EGGER laminate make it the ideal choice for collaboration zone bench seating, reception counters and internal doors. The versatile material allows for creative elements such as the curved features and logo routering.EGGER's matching material offer means that desks, case goods and decorative slats could be fabricated in cost effective MFC, removing the additional labour of bonding laminate without altering the design concept. Matching ABS edging gives a uniform finish to all of the furniture elements.

The Living Concrete team are highly experienced at working with leading designers to create bespoke furniture for beautiful spaces. That’s why Charlotte Crosland came to us to discuss the design, manufacture and installation of this stunning outdoor kitchen and entertainment space, housed in a purpose built oak building at her client’s Great Missenden home.We cast a number of items including work surfaces, kitchen cupboards with shelving and drawers, fridge enclosure, BBQ, cast in sink with copper fittings and seatWe used a unique eco concrete mix with a hydrophobic agent to limit moisture absorption and the smooth Silk Mist finish was treated and sealed with Satin Stain protection to make it damage proof. Our high-performance concrete doesn’t corrode or degrade, making it a long-lasting, practical choice that will keep its good looks. It’s fireproof too – a major advantage inside the home, but equally so in an outdoor oak-built structure such as this.

Mayfield Park spans 6.5 acres on the banks of the River Medway and is the first new public park in in the centre of Manchester for over 100 years.The park has a range of features that respond to the level changes throughout the site such as bridges and projecting platforms. Lang+Fulton provided their PL-55x11/90x4mm heel-proof grating for each of these areas providing the required load bearing properties and allowing for free drainage. The grating panels were all individually sized to fit the diverse shapes of the platforms which create social areas for seating and provide cycle routes and pedestrian walkways across the bridges.The grating was also chosen to maintain the site’s post-industrial aesthetic.Mayfield Park has won praise as the standard for future urban park design. The park's commitment to sustainability, evident in its approach to material use and construction, is particularly noteworthy and shows how these values can be achieved within landscape design.

Gradus has provided LED Step Lighting solutions for a new cross-media venue based in Nottingham, creating an atmospheric lighting effect while aiding wayfinding.Confetti X, a £5m complex at Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, part of Nottingham Trent University, offers students state-of-the-art technology for esports production, content creation and other emerging technologies like virtual production. The 100-seater venue features a large video wall for 4k broadcast complete with LED wings and hosts amateur and professional esports tournaments.The Gradus ATD121L Aluminium Step Profile was supplied and fitted on the steps in the seating area, featuring the company’s 5w Gradus Impression 3000k Warm White commercial-grade LED tape to ensure long-lasting reliability. A selection of control equipment was supplied, including an RF controller with a wireless hand-held remote, enabling the theatre to control and adjust the lighting as required.

THE PROJECTThe Bushey Heath building is the eighth development created by the Jewish Blind Association and consists of 15 one-bedroom and four two-bedroom apartments. The project cost £6.7 million and has multiple communal areas including a large roof terrace which is available to tenants. This was identified as an area which would require shading and shelter for tenants.THE CHALLENGEThe charity needed a shading solution which could be left out in heavy rain and still provide a suitable amount of shade.THE SOLUTIONTo achieve the desired 10000mm width and 5000mm projection we used the Weinor Pergotex II aluminium roof cover to protect the roof terrace area. This was designed to give residents of the Bushey Heath flats shelter from sun and rain due to the product’s unique PVC fabric panels. The addition of LED roof lighting helped residents use the area later in the evenings with spaced seating provided.

BackgroundThe City Hub stands as a beacon of excellence in student services across Nottingham.With an impressive six-storey structure, it teems with diverse facilities, from a performing arts centre to a science and early years provision. On top of this, the campus holds a 200-seat theatre, training restaurant, and social spaces. giving students a truly enriching experience while studying with them.ChallengeDue to the high number of students and staff entering and exiting the City Hub on a daily basis, the client was faced with the challenge of finding a suitable solution to safely manage this. With limited space, it was crucial that a solution was found that would cater to the restricted area while maintaining the expected high-throughput. Another challenge that the campus faced was preventing overcrowding and delays for people on their building journey. Elevating Modern Workspaces.280 High Holborn, a highly specified modern office building developed by Hines in 2011, stands as a beacon of contemporary design and functionality. This commercial space offers a range of amenities and features, including floor-to-ceiling windows, VRF air conditioning, raised floors, and a host of sustainable and user-friendly elements. As part of a broader development vision, 280 High Holborn seamlessly blends modern aesthetics with the historical charm of its surroundings.The ambitious project aimed at creating 100,000 sq ft of commercial office space, six adjacent apartments, and a retail presence in Mid-Town London. The design needed to be flexible, column-free, and capitalize on views over the historic Lincoln’s Inn Fields to the south. The challenge was to seamlessly integrate the building into its urban context while providing a versatile and attractive environment for various uses.The building’s form optimizes its plan to blend with the adjacent townscape, offering an articulated floorplate that supports flexible space planning solutions. The mix of office, residential, and retail spaces necessitated the incorporation of flexible office floorplates that could be easily customized for different needs.In the pursuit of modernity and functionality, our contribution to 280 High Holborn involved the supply of bespoke metal riser doors. Concealed, fire-rated, and designed to be flush with the surroundings, these doors seamlessly integrate into the modern aesthetic of the building. Placed strategically throughout the structure, these doors contribute to the safety of the occupants while maintaining a sleek and unobtrusive appearance.The building’s floorplates offer a ceiling height of 2.7m clear, providing a versatile canvas for both open-plan and cellularized office configurations. Six apartments at the southern end capitalize on views over the Inns of Court, adding a residential component to the development. Additionally, a new civic space at the base of the building enhances engagement with the surrounding community.With a focus on sustainability, 280 High Holborn achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, underlining its commitment to environmental performance and occupant well-being.

For the new office of one of the UK’s leading healthcare specialists, workplace interior design specialists, ID:SR – Sheppard Robson, specified the natural beauty of Forbo Flooring Systems’ Allura Flex Wood Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) to help ‘bring the outside in’.  Occupying the first and second floor of a new seven-storey Grade A office building in Leeds, the healthcare specialist has brought over 250 staff together into one co-located environment. Expertly designed by ID:SR, the 25,000 sq ft space comprises a variety of agile work and social settings to support a range of activities, a dedicated client reception, meeting suite and lounge.   “To support employee wellbeing, the office also engages with the principles of biophilic design, so we incorporated natural looking materials where possible to emphasise the connection between people and nature. The beautiful and realistic wood effect of Forbo’s Allura Flex Wood LVT supported this idea of bringing the outside in. Offering convincing, authentic visuals and excellent functional performance, we used the finish in prominent positions of the office as we felt the flooring supported the overall concept of the scheme.”  Allura Flex Wood in the Weathered Oak colourway was fitted in a herringbone pattern with bursts of Seaweed Solid Oak, Charcoal Solid Oak and Smoke Solid Oak in the main reception and staff breakout areas. Thanks to its tackified installation, the high quality, dimensionally stable Allura Flex tiles provides answers to key issues such as limiting valuable downtime, the re-use of floors and minimising environmental impact, perfect for busy office spaces.  What’s more, Surestep Material in Cool Concrete was specified in the kitchenette of the staff breakout area, where there is an increased risk of slip. The safety flooring combines outstanding slip resistant properties with differentiated design and through the use of Step Crystals, the natural colourway offers a clean, fresh look and improved cleaning and maintenance properties. The PUR Pearl finish ensures that it is stain and chemical resistant.

The development of 33 King William Street provides 227,000 sq ft of stunning office space and a quarter acre roof top garden. Buzon UK were specified to install the Buzon pedestal system to support Iroko timber decking and a large area of paving to the spacious roof terrace creating a fantastic relaxation space for the office occupants to enjoy. Buzon pedestals are seriously strong, simple to install and are capable of supporting loads of more than 1000kg per pedestal so were the perfect choice of raised floor support system for this complex exterior terrace of contrasting materials.

17 Esther Anne Place in Islington, originally a post office building, has been converted into luxury flats and warehouse style apartments. It is a development that builds on the richness and variety of the area, mixing Edwardian flair with modern living. It retains the redbrick facade of the sorting office at ground level, combined with a zinc-clad frame on the upper floors making it an eye catching centre piece to Islington Square. Developed as three separate buildings, the existing tower is being refurbished as high quality apartments with offices and retail, whilst the podium is being replaced with new offices and roof garden. With a fully glazed lobby, a reduced and rationalized core cased in luscious marble and innovative dark bronze-cased windows which sit in the steel frame. The building will be 80% more energy efficient when complete. Effisus Ecofacade Pre-fab Profiles were used to seal façade connections – not only to protect the building from water damage, but also to improve building airtightness and energy efficiency.

Restoration was carried out on office building The Garment Factory combining the original building’s key features with contemporary finishes. Because this is a big office building with many tenants, foot traffic was likely to be a common occurrence in the main entrance. To support interior floor surfaces, CS provided the stylish and efficient Pedimat Ultra entrance matting, along with Platinum Exterior Grade Carpet Inserts and Pedimat Ultra Rails (Black Anodised). Pedimat® Ultra has an 11mm slim depth profile and can be fitted in customary matwells as well as alongside floor tiles and carpets to create a flush floor finish.
