Application
For the air and watertight but breathable sealing of the internal perimeters of window, door and curtain wall frames in SFS, timber framed, solid and traditional cavity wall or volumetric building type constructions.
Primerless adhesion is usually accomplished on most common construction substrates. The membrane requires consolidation where it is bonded to the substrates. The combination of self-adhesives provides options on the leading edge for installing the membrane to the window frame edge (W orientation) or face (E orientation), providing air, vapour, and weather tightness. ME508 can also be used externally subject to a maximum of 9 months of direct UV exposure. Difficult substrates or cold weather applications may require primer illbruck AT140. Description
ME508 Duo EW/F is a non-woven fleece laminate that is self-adhesive on the reverse face, for optimised adhesion to most construction substrates providing airtightness and variable vapour control to the internal window door or curtain wall perimeter joint between the glazed frame and structure. Often used in conjunction with illbruck ME501 Duo HD Membrane usually applied to the external perimeter.

Execution | Manufacturer guidanceIn strict accordance with manufacturers' method statement. Window, door and curtain wall applications -Minimum bond to glazing frame is 20 mm. Minimum lap and bond to backing wall/substrate is 50 mm. When applied as linear construction joint seal the membrane should be applied equal distant over the joint with a 50/50 lap to the corresponding substrates and a minimum bond of 35 mm, 50 mm preferred. |
