Description

Giromax® Roofcoat is an industrial roof coating solution, providing an effective, long-term protective roof coating solution that can be applied in wet conditions. On metal roofs the system treats cut edge corrosion fixings & ad hoc corrosion before the top coat system reinstates coatings that are failing due to age, UV exposure and weather conditions on profiled steel sheet roofs. On asbestos style sheets, the fully breathable coating allows for total roof encapsulation.

System components:

Giromax® Sealant

A one-part, moisture tolerant sealant, supplied in 310 ml tubes.
Used in the Giromax® Roofcoat System specification to seal panel to panel and rooflight top lap joints on metal roofs and to seal roof bolts, fixings and washers on asbestos roofs.

Giromax® Basecoat

A two-part, moisture tolerant epoxy coating supplied in 1 Ltr and 2.5 Ltr kits of Part A (Base) and Part B (Activator) designed to be wholly (not part) mixed before use.
Used to treat substrate corrosion on the sheet panel and cut edges, and to encapsulate panel fixings on metal roofs and seal the sheet to limit fibre release on asbestos sheets.

Giromax® Roofcoat

A one-part, moisture tolerant, hybrid polymer coating supplied ready to use in 15 L pails.
Used to provide a durable protective and encapsulation coating.

Specification data - Special coating systems

System performance	Guidance for specification option: Available with a 25 year material warranty on metal and a 20 year material warranty on asbestos.
Preparation	Guidance for specification option: Surfaces must be well cleaned before application. Pressure wash surface at a minimum 3000 psi using a rotating turbo nozzle, supplement with mechanical and manual methods to clean and remove all weakly adhered coatings to a firm edge. Where possible remove fixing caps. Remove all corrosion to ST3 standard of EN ISO 8501-1:2007 using scrapers and abrasion methods. Ensure surface is not polished. Remove rust staining and swarf etc. Wipe down with Giromax® Panel Wipe. Consult manufacturer's literature for details.
Initial coats	Giromax® Basecoat. Guidance for specification option: A two- part moisture tolerant coating. Used in the Giromax® Roofcoat System specification to treat substrate corrosion on the sheet panel, cut edges and to encapsulate fixings and asbestos sheets. Wholly pour Part B (Activator) into Part A and mix thoroughly. Do not part mix. Brush or roller apply one coat Basecoat to the correct film thickness to the required areas. Consult manufacturer's literature for details.
Finishing coats	Giromax® Roofcoat. Guidance for specification option: A one-part coating used to provide a durable protective coating on metal and asbestos roofs. Apply following Basecoat and Sealant application. Brush, roller, or spray apply one coat Giromax® Roofcoat to the correct thickness. Consult manufacturer's literature for details.
Sealing of internal movement joints	Giromax® Sealant. Guidance for specification option: A one-part, moisture tolerant sealant. Used in the Giromax® Roofcoat System specification to seal panel to panel and rooflight top lap joints and to seal asbestos roof fixings. Following Basecoat application, gun apply Sealant to the joint in a continuous line. Tool in an upward direction using Giromax® Thinner to achieve a smooth fillet that encapsulates and visually obscures the leading edge of the top sheet. Apply liberally around asbestos roof fixings.
