Description

Giromax® Edgecoat is a cut edge corrosion treatment. The solution is technologically advanced and designed to treat cut edge corrosion on profiled metal roofs. The BBA certified formula is fully moisture tolerant and can be used to treat corrosion at sheet edge & overlap details.

System components:

Giromax® Sealant

A one-part, moisture tolerant sealant, supplied in 310 ml tubes.
Used in the Giromax® Edgecoat System specification to seal panel to panel and rooflight top lap joints.

Giromax® Basecoat

A two-part, moisture tolerant epoxy coating supplied in 1 L kits of Part A (Base) and Part B (Activator) designed to be wholly (not part) mixed before use.
Used to treat substrate corrosion on the sheet panel and cut edges, and to encapsulate panel fixings.

Giromax® Edgecoat

A one-part, liquid-applied hybrid coating for use as the weathering coat for cut edge corrosion treatment. Supplied in 2.5 L tins.
Used on galvanized steel roofing sheets to provide cut edge protection against corrosion.

System performance	Guidance for specification option: Available with a 15 year material warranty.
Preparation	Guidance for specification option: Remove all loose and flaking coatings to a firm edge. Remove all corrosion to ST3 standard of EN ISO 8501-1:2007 using scrapers and abrasion methods. Ensure that the edge of any remaining coating is firmly adhered and well feathered. Key surface but ensure it is not polished. Remove rust staining and swarf etc. Wipe down with Giromax® Panel Wipe. Consult manufacturer's literature for details.
Initial coats	Giromax® Basecoat. Guidance for specification option: A two-part moisture tolerant coating. Used in the Giromax® Edgecoat System specification to treat substrate corrosion on the sheet panel, cut edges and to encapsulate panel fixings. Wholly pour Part B (Activator) into Part A and mix thoroughly. Do not part mix. Brush or roller apply one coat Basecoat to the correct film thickness in a continuous uniform line that overlaps the firm edge of the remaining coating by at least 10 mm. Ensure full coverage of all exposed metal including the sheet edge. Consult manufacturer's literature for details.
Finishing coats	Giromax® Edgecoat. Guidance for specification option: A one-part coating for use as the weathering coat for cut edge corrosion treatment. Apply following Basecoat and Sealant application. Brush or roller apply Giromax® Edgecoat in a neat line to the correct thickness, overlapping Basecoat by at least 10 mm. Ensure application makes contact with the sheet underside to achieve full encapsulation of the sheet cut edge. Consult manufacturer's literature for details.
Sealing of internal movement joints	Giromax® Sealant. Guidance for specification option: A one-part, moisture tolerant sealant. Used in the Giromax® Edgecoat System specification to seal panel to panel and rooflight top lap joints. Following Basecoat application, gun apply Sealant to the joint in a continuous line. Tool in an upward direction with one coat of Edgecoat, brush applied ‘wet on wet’ to achieve a smooth fillet that encapsulates and visually obscures the leading edge of the top sheet.
