Application

The fire dampers are suitable for installation in arbitrary position in vertical and horizontal passages of fire-separating constructions. The fire damper can be installed into:

  • Solid wall construction, e.g. made of normal concrete/ masonry or porous concrete with a minimum thickness of 100 mm.
  • Gypsum wall construction with a minimum thickness of 100 mm.
  • Solid ceiling construction, e.g. made of normal or porous concrete, with minimum thickness according to BS EN 1366-2.

Additional applications may be available, please reference product Technical Specifications for more detail.

Description

A Fire Damper is used to prevent fire and reduce smoke spreading from one compartment to another through the air ductwork system which may penetrate fire separating walls and floors.

Features and benefits:

  • Dampers from 150 x 150 mm to 1500 x 800 mm.
  • Certified to BS EN 15650.
  • Tested in accordance with BS EN 1366-2.
  • Classified to BS EN 13501-3+A1.
  • Fire resistance EI 120 S - 500 Pa.
  • Damper actuating mechanical or electrical.

  • Damper body: From 150 x 150 mm to 1500 x 800 mm.
  • The dampers are available in any 5 mm increment within their minimum and maximum sizes.
  • Construction length: 375 mm.

Actuator

Mandik.

Control module

Not required.

Communication and control module MDCM.

Guidance for specification option:

The MDCM damper control module is connected on a bi-directional communication loop back to a control panel, typically located at the FCC. This accessory is only required with MANDIK control systems.

Cladding

Not required.

Protective cladding boards.

Guidance for specification option:

Protective cladding boards must be used as a part of

installation with weichschott system.

Frame

Not required.

Reinforcing frame VRM-Q.

Guidance for specification option:

If the damper is installed outside the fire separation construction, a damper side A ≥ 800 mm and fire resistance is EI 90 S, VRM-Q reinforcement frame must be

used.

Duct connection

Mandik FFDM breakaway joint.

Guidance for specification option:

FFDM allows a breakaway connection between a duct and fire damper according to DW/145. The FFDM is a flanged breakaway joint with a plastic pad which will melt at 80°C, allowing the duct to break away from the damper and ensure the dampers integrity is maintained.

Refer to FFDM – Technical specifications for options and insert requirements.

Breakaway joint (supplied by others).

Guidance for specification option:

Insert requirements.

Manufacturer guidance

Breakaway joints are a required accessory for the fire dampers. These joints are required on both sides of the damper.
