Fire Rated Mailboxes - Two Hour integrity

An overview of the new range of Fire Rated Mailboxes with Two Hour Integrity.
FR1, FR2 & FR3, three fire rated mailbox models had already been tested by Warrington Fire to the previous BS 476 Part 22: 1987 standard, which meant that they had all achieved a 60-minute fire rating.
We wanted to extend the test to 2 hours to ensure that the area commonly used as an evacuation point was capable of holding back a fire or containing a fire.
To achieve this, we sent our fire rated mailboxes to Warrington Fire for a 120-minute integrity only test. In October 2019 and October 2020 we tested these mailboxes at Warrington Fire as singles and as banks in order to see exactly how they would perform in a fire situation. On both occasions they passed the 2 hour test with no failures.

Introducing the Fire Rated FR1 mailbox suitable for vertically storing A4 mail for front entry and retrieval. The FR1 mailbox has been developed to restrict the spread of fire for up to two hours only and if recessed into a fire rated
wall, will maintain the integrity of the fire rated wall for up to two hours. Fire Rated mailboxes include several specially developed features to meet Fire Rating standards BS EN 1363-1: 2012 which outline fire testing on building
structures. The lock included in Fire Rated products uses a fire cover to limit the access for fire to the mailbox lock.

The Fire Rated 2 Mailbox is an in front/ out front horizontal product that is suitable for wall mounting, wall recessing or freestanding. The relatively minimal height of the mailbox is ideal for maximising the quantity of mailboxes that can be used in a restricted area. The Fire Rated 2 mailbox has been developed to restrict the spread of fire for up to two hours only and if recessed into a fire rated wall, will maintain the integrity of the fire rated wall for up to two hours only.

The Fire Rated 3 mailbox is designed and tested to meet fire rating standards BS476 Parts 6, 7, and 22, offering fire resistance for up to 2 hours.
Made from Zintec Steel, it features a range of components that ensure compliance with Fire Rating Standards, including a lock cover, intumescent aperture seal, and an inward sprung hinge flap. This through-the-wall mailbox allows for front entry and rear retrieval of mail.
The front panel can be customised to meet specific project dimensions.
This product has been fully tested and certified by Warrington Fire.

The H1 range of mailboxes, are available in single, double, and triple height variations. This range of mailboxes have been designed for versatile use both internally and externally (with the addition of weather cladding).
Each model in the H1 range conforms to EN13724 standards and complies with the Secured by Design Homes 2024 guidelines (requiring the use of an additional gap restrictor or extended internal bridge) as well as Class 0 (BS476: Part 6 & 7) fire safety standards.
