The opening door and aperture of mailboxes should be positioned between a height of 450mm and 1200mm from the floor level. These dimensions are recommended as featured in the Lifetime Homes Standard published 5th July 2010. Where possible, mailboxes should be positioned in location(s) throughout a dwelling that allow for mail to be retrieved without impacting on the accessibility for property users. It is important for architects, designers and specifiers to address the needs of disabled users by providing reasonable access to mailboxes.
