Protect VP300 Membrane Brochure

Protect VP300 is a medium weight vapour permeable roof underlay with a vapour resistance better than that required by BS 5250 and a strength greater than many other underlays in its class. It is suitable for all pitched roofs particularly fully supported applications. Protect VP300 is both CE marked and BM TRADA certified and provides an economic solution when the highest specification of roof underlay such as VP400 PlusLR is not required.

The Q-Mark Scheme is a third-party product certification scheme operated by Exova bM TRADA Certification Ltd.
The scheme is based on the principles of ISO 9001, ISO 17065, ISO 17021 and confirms compliance with BS EN 5250 and BS EN 5534, together with a specific set of performance criteria set by Exova BM TRADA (as defined in Clause 4 of this document) in order to attain a product which performs to a high standard. The relevant standards listed above are to be read in conjunction with this document.
The scheme covers factory production control, documentation and test/assessment evidence, and the resultant certification is specific to clearly defined products and their constituent components.

Protect Wunderlay is a lighter alternative to Protect A1 type HR roofing underlay, developed to overcome the disadvantages of traditional Type 1F and 5U felts and second generation plastic sheet materials. It has good strength and nail tear resistance and is independently certified by BM TRADA.
Protect Wunderlay provides a secondary line of defence against wind driven rain and snow and resistance to wind uplift. Being entirely waterproof it can be used as a temporary roof covering.

The Continuous Slate Dry Verge System is designed for use with most natural and man-made slates. The system for TapcoSlate Classic fits slate up to a maximum 6mm in thickness.
The Slate Dry Verge System is fitted to the top end of the battens and forms a fixing for the slate whilst covering the end of the battens.
Expansion joints are provided and the following instructions should be followed to avoid possible buckling or breaking during periods of hot or cold weather

The fascia board should be fixed lower than normal to allow for the ventilator, 15mm for the 10mm system and 27mm for the 25mm system.
Attach the selected ventilator to the top edge of the fascia board ensuring each vent is connected to the adjacent unit.

The ventilator has a non-nailable area, nailing into this area will cause irreparable damage to the unit. To help with the installation of this product, a piece of card or paper can be cut to sit around the central vent to use as a guide when securing the relevant TapcoSlates around it onto the battens.

Attach one piece of the Roll Ventilator by placing the end square corrugation over the rafter and fixing with staples or nails.
The ventilator should be placed to ensure the airflow from the soffit area is not restricted by the roof insulation.
By lightly stretching the roll along its length, the square corrugations will fall into line automatically with rafters at 400mm and 600mm centres and can easily be extended to suit 450mm centres.

For felt and batten roofs, start by fixing battens minimum size of 2" (50mm) by 1" (25mm) treated battens over underlay to the required gauge. The first course and eaves (starter) course should oversail the fascia by at least 1½" (38mm), so the first course batten should be placed approximately 7½" (190mm) centrally from the start of the roof (see diagram). A second batten should then be placed directly under the first course batten to accommodate the eaves or starter course (made from a cut ¾-slate).
