1-way SOS locksets - Ancora House (Mental Health, CAMHS)

Designed by Gilling Dod Architects, Ancora House is an award-winning 30-bed CAMHS unit.
When it was being built, the trust specified a need for practical and safe en-suite locksets that were also consistent with the window and door handles.
Our Primera 1-way SOS (Staff Override System) locksets were fitted on all of the en-suite rooms, offering superior safety by allowing staff to unlock the door even if the service user was to hold the turn/pull. P
Plus our standard anti-ligature push/pull handles was fitted across the ward, providing consistency .
Electronic 5-way SOS locksets - Atherleigh Park (Mental Health and Dementia inpatient services)

AFL Architects wanted design consistency across the separate psychiatric intensive care unit and adult inpatient rehabilitation wards in this new Mental Health facility, in Leigh, Wigan.
Our electronic locksets were used across the wards, offering superior safety for staff and service users – as the only electronic locksets with Staff Override System, staff can always gain access in an emergency.
And offering service users control over their own living space by issuing a harmless key fob also met the trust's requirements of promoting service user independence and restoring dignity.
Electronic access control - Skelbrooke PICU

The Skelbrooke Ward is a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) at the Doncaster Adult Mental Health Unit; providing specialised care for people experiencing acute mental ill health. In early 2020, the Skelbrooke Ward underwent a major refurbishment to modernise the environment and introduce new technology to work alongside clinical practices. Patient care and recovery were at the forefront of plans for the refurbishment of the Skelbrooke Ward. Our electronic integrated override locks allow patients to move freely between rooms where access is permitted; whilst the load release en-suite doors carefully consider privacy and dignity without compromising on safety.
En-suite doors - Carbon centre, Galaxy Ward

The Coborn Centre for Adolescent Mental Health, opened in 2006, is one of the first purpose-built adolescent units in the UK. The Centre offers in-patient and day care services for young people between 12 and 18 years old. With 12 bedrooms, the Galaxy Ward provides specialist Intensive Care services for young people who are experiencing significant emotional or mental distress. Working with young people, their families and carers, Galaxy Ward aims to provide young people with the best possible care whilst respecting their views, beliefs and culture. After great consideration, they selected our en-suite door, seeing it as the only solution to balance safety, whilst ensuring privacy and dignity for those staying at the facility.
Extra-wide anti-barricade doorsets - Acute Mental Health (Mersey Care)

When Mersey Care upgraded their existing leaf-and-a half bedroom door arrangements, they wanted to improve the anti-barricade access and robustness of their doors – while still having a clear opening width of 1000mm.
They found the leaf-and-a-half arrangement wasn’t ideal – with a bulky meeting stile and additional exposed metalwork.
To address this, we proposed an extra-wide single leaf Symphony doorset. Aided by market-leading fire evidence, the leaf is 1100mm providing a clear opening of 1050mm – more than enough space for a service user and two members of staff.
Finger-ejecting finger guards - Worcesters Primary School

The school initially requested 20 integral finger guards as part of an extension built offsite by Portakabin in 2014, and loved our finger guards so much that they later decided to replace all of their cracked plastic finger guards with our retrofit option, installing 80 of our finger guards in total.
Full-door alarm - Sowenna CAMHS

Sowenna - the first of it's kind for Cornwall Partnership NHS FT - is a purpose-built child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS) unit, providing inpatient treatment for young people aged between 13 and 18 years. The project had huge local demand, with young people and their families previously having to travel out of county for vitally important care.Thoughtfully designed by Ryder Architecture, the unit focuses on non-institutional safety, wellbeing and recovery.
Full-door alarm - The Junipers PICU

The Junipers is the first of its kind in the south west of England; offering inpatient support that's closer to home for people with complex mental health needs. The design of the purpose-built unit included input from experts by lived experience and is truly a facility designed with people in mind. When we first discussed the plans for The Junipers PICU with Devon Partnership, we knew it was an opportunity to work together to create a new state-of-the-art ward. After reviewing their options, Devon Partnership chose to install our full doorset range. We worked closely with them before, during and after installation to ensure all of the doors and locksets were operating to help both patients and staff.
Great Ormond Street Hospital

At Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London, one of the world’s leading clinical children's hospitals established in 1852, patient care is paramount. GOSH strives to deliver exceptional medical support while fostering a comforting, child-friendly environment that enhances the experience for patients and their families. Our finger guards were supplied for the Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children, which opened its doors in 2018Our market leading fingerguards were identified as the ideal solution to help protect little fingers from being trapped and damaged.
Integral finger guards - Blairdardie Primary School

Funded by Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government, this £12.1 million state-of-the-art primary school was built to replace an existing school building. The doors were opened in March 2019, welcoming up to 462 pupils. Situated on the city's Great Western Road, the school provides an inspiring, flexible learning environment for Primary 1-7 children. Architects Holmes Miller specified our integral finger guard throughout, blending seamlessly with their contemporary design.
Integral finger guards - Cwm Ifor Primary School

We've been working with Caerphilly County Borough Council since 2010.
Like many Local Education Authorities, they'd previously used plastic finger guards but grew frustrated with the lack of durability and need for frequent replacements. They tried a number of different plastic options but none were up to the job in a modern high traffic school environment – which is where we came in.
The discreet design of our integral finger guards design out the problem of trapped fingers, as well as helping incorporate flexibility into the building design, embracing the school's culture and ethos of community and support.
Integral finger guards - Sheffield Children's Hospital

To continue the high-quality care Sheffield Children’s Hospital provides, the Trust began a lengthy modernisation process in 2014. It involved the refurbishment and rebuilding of part of the existing hospital as well as the development of an entirely new building.At the heart of this modernisation process was the desire to seamlessly balance safety with homeliness, creating a non-institutional environment for children of all ages. Naturally, the Trust chose to install our integral finger guards (Alumax).
Mechanical 5-way SOS Locksets - Mildmay Oaks

Mildmay Oaks offers in-patient rehabilitation services for men and women with learning disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs). The 39-bed unit has both a low-secure and a high-secure facilities.Operated by The Priory Group, the unit aims to support patients with community-based activities so they can progress through their care pathway towards a community-based placement. Creating a domestic-looking environment was key to this – and the client and designers chose our doorsets throughout.
Mental Health Corridor doorsets - Integrated Mental Health Services (Barnet, Enfield and Haringey)

When Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS trust approached us, they required new doorsets as their existing double-leaf corridor doors with surface mounted, scissor-arm closers were presenting a ligature risk and were regularly over-opened, causing damage. Plus, the leaves were vandalised, requiring regular repainting.
We supplied our extra-wide, single-leaf doorsets with concealed hold-open closers, offering superior safety by reducing the ligature risk. We also used a vandal-resistant PVC facing to brighten the space and minimise regular maintenance costs.
