Ravatherm XPS X ULTRA 300 SL specified for £50 million Mayfair development

Ravago Building Solutions

Ravago Building Solution’s BBA certified ultra-thin high-performance extruded polystyrene (XPS) thermal insulation boards has been delivered to 22 Hanover Square, in Mayfair, London, as part of a £50 million project to deliver a new collection of luxury residences. Led by global construction company ISG, the project is set to offer 80 new apartments as part of a multi-level development linked to the 5-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel, offering residents access to exclusive hotel facilities that include a spa, 25m indoor swimming pool, and a rooftop bar overlooking Mayfair.  1200m2 of Ravatherm XPS X ULTRA 300 SL was selected by flat roof insulation specialists Quantum Insulation, keeping in mind that leading roofing company, BriggsAmasco, needed to attain a U-value of 0.12 – a requirement easily met by ULTRA 300 SL. Ravatherm XPS X ULTRA 300 SL is a thermal insulation product designed for inverted flat roofs, offering architects and specifiers the thinnest XPS insulation with a design lambda of 0.028 and declared lambda 0.027 W/mK for the whole thickness range from 70 to 205mm. Paul Davies, Director, Quantum Insulation, said: “Ravatherm XPS X ULTRA 300 SL is the thinnest insulation of its kind, and so presented the ideal solution for this demanding specification. Alongside their product, Ravago offer high-level expertise and superb customer service, both of which were equally vital in getting the insulation from cradle to gate as smoothly as possible”. Tony Lawther, Operations Director, BriggsAmasco, said: “This project came with added logistical challenges, which Ravago were able to overcome with reassuring expertise, anticipating our needs and ensuring on-time Saturday delivery to a quiet site”.  Richard Powell, Roofing Sales Manager, Ravago Building Solutions, added: “Having provided solutions for similar projects in the past, we were confident in meeting both technical and logistical requirements, ensuring the client received timely and safe delivery of the product. We look forward to seeing the final outcome of the development next year”.

Underhill House - Englands first Passivhaus

Underhill House - Englands first Passivhaus

Ravago Building Solutions

Underhill House, a strikingly-modern earth-sheltered home, was the first house in England to achieve certified Passivhaus status - widely regarded as the world's leading standard in energy efficient construction. Underhill House was developed underneath and adjacent to a derelict 300-year old barn. Sensitive restoration of the existing barn and innovative design ensured the project has minimal visual and environmental impact. Not only was the external form of Underhill House designed to minimise visual impact on the surrounding landscape, the interior finish and construction materials were carefully chosen to make the building as environmentally sustainable as realistically possible.

Ravago Building Solutions

A major new regional distribution centre for the Co-operative Group Ltd in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire will feature Ravatherm XPS X 300 SB insulation. The 661,000 sq ft facility, which will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy, has already achieved BREEAM Excellent rating; Ravago’s BRE Green Guide “A” rated insulation will contribute to maintaining this environmental excellence in the upcoming fit-out phase and beyond.Ravatherm XPS X 300 SB has proven popular with cold store specialist contractor ISD Solutions, who will join Tritax Symmetry and Winvic Construction in Biggleswade for the fit-out this April. ISD had opted for the high-performance extruded polystyrene (XPS) thermal insulation boards in the construction of cold stores at B&M’s 1 million sq ft Bedfordshire depot; Ravago’s top-tier product and customer service won ISD’s approval and ensured continuation of the partnership for the Co-op project.Manufactured in King’s Lynn, UK, Ravatherm XPS X 300 SB’s closed-cell structure and declared lambda of 0.030 or 0.031 ensures high compressive strength and low moisture uptake – making it perfect for commercial cold storage.Natalie Sutton, Account Manager for South England & Midlands, Ravago Building Solutions, said: “The new distribution centre is not only significant for the Co-op, but also offers enormous value in terms of safeguarding the environment whilst creating new jobs in the area. It has been fantastic to work with ISD Solutions again to deliver our high-performance insulation for such a significant project”.Martin Taylor, Estimating Manager, ISD added: “This project has significant requirements, and Ravatherm XPS 300 SB’s combination of excellent thermal performance, simplicity, and cost-efficiency ensures we can exceed these. Having previously partnered with Ravago, we have every confidence in the team to deliver consistently outstanding insulation solutions.”
