Bloot Architecture, a concept-driven architectural practice located in the Netherlands, has recently specified P C Henderson’s Husky 100 sliding door system for the renovation of a luxury villa. After falling in love with the beautiful and picturesque surroundings of the National Park Veluwezoom in Holland, the architecture firms client purchased a dilapidated 1950’s villa in order to live in their dream location. What ensued was a sustainable refurbishment and extension project – key features included the creation of open plan living, full of natural light, with the inclusion of a flexible office space built on via an extension.

P C Henderson’s Sienna sliding door system has recently been specified for a stunning self-build project in the beautiful countryside of Aughrim, Co. Wicklow. Planning the design of the 3 bed bungalow, the owners main goal was to create a large open plan living area for the family to enjoy. To ensure flexibility of living, the couple opted for double glazed sliding doors to separate the living area from the bedroom block – vaulted ceilings were also included in the design to enhance the space even further. P  C Henderson’s Sienna sliding door system was identified as the best solution for the project. Designed with a stainless steel bar track and exposed top mounted hangers, Sienna offers an elegant and stylish system.

P C Henderson, specialists in the design and manufacture of sliding and folding door hardware were specified for a stunning and unique house extension at a property in Kelso, Scotland. The brief was to create a bright living space which opened into the garden. Two internal rooms were opened up with P C Henderson’s Securefold folding gear system which were installed between the dining room and the lounge area. The whole frontage was replaced with glazed folding doors also using Henderson's Securefold system to create a desired indoor - outdoor living experience taking advantage of the garden views.

A total of 31 Flexirol Straight Sliding systems were installed as room dividers in the Presidential Suite and as sliding doors in the hotel’s conference rooms. Soltaire 120 hardware was employed in the grand ballroom, with two sets of our Securefold 150 folding door systems fitted in the hotel’s restaurant. Phase 1 of the build also included the installation of 32 Husky 100 sliding door hardware systems, complete with soft close mechanisms, in rooms for the hotel’s branded residences. The 2nd phase of the development will see the fit out of 143 rooms within the same tower.

The project brief demanded a cost effective, flexible and adaptable solution to effectively divide the restaurant floor area – creating two zones within the large space. Our Flexirol Multdirectional hardware was identified as the best product to fulfill the project brief. Local refurbishment experts, House Mobel Decoracion, took full advantage of the hardware in order to best meet the restaurant owner’s demand for aesthetic and practical appeal. The client required a solution that would enable the efficient use of the restaurant floor space, making it bigger or smaller depending on the amount of guests.

P C Henderson has recently joined forces with SDS London to donate automated sliding door hardware for an Annex being built by Sam Robinson who is living with Motor Neurone Disease. The automated sliding doors are just one of many features in the Annex designed to enhance Sam’s independence and quality of life. When the sliding doors open, the bathroom lights are triggered to come on. An automatic toilet, a remote shower system as well as a full body warm air drying system were also included in the annex,providing Sam with a fully automated bathroom experience.

Covering 128,000 square metres, the new ultra-modern Amphia Hospital in Holland was opened in November 2019. The design brief focused on creating a new world of medical care – aiming for increased one to one patient contact, shorter waiting times, the highest level of health care and a peaceful and comfortable environment. A key component in achieving this was the design layout of 514 private luxury rooms with adjoining bathrooms. The contactor wanted to ensure ease of movement around the room - as well as enhanced privacy and comfort.  P C Henderson’s Sirocco system was identified as the best solution for the project. With an integrated hydraulic self-closing feature, Sirocco offers exceptional performance by bringing the door to a safe and gentle close.

The project was to create a partitioned living space with the requirements of ample storage, traditional style, integrated LED lighting and a sliding door mechanism. After seeking advice from our Holland office, Ralpine Designs decided that our Husky 100 sliding door hardware was the right project for the job. Using a library and display unit, the living room and dining room could be separated into two rooms or opened up as one big room when required. The system was used to hold two biparting wooden doors, utilising a face fixed aluminium track for added quality.

Meca Welding, a small family run Blacksmith company based in Belgium, has recently specified P C Henderson’s Securefold folding door hardware for the renovation of a pool house at a residential property in Shilde, Belgium. The project brief required a system which could be fully opened during the warmer months and securely closed off during the winter – whilst also considering the architectural style and design aesthetics of the building. P C Henderson’s Securefold 100 exterior folding door hardware was identified as the best solution for the project.

P C Henderson's Rustic 80 sliding barn door hardware has recently been specified for a home renovation of a period property in Kent. The 11 month renovation included a complete rewire, full house re-plaster, a full damp-proof course, new heating and plumbing system and a new kitchen and bathroom. The couple also required some sliding door hardware for the properties bedroom and bathroom doors. Our Rustic sliding barn door hardware was identified as the best solution for the project due to its beautifully crafted barn style hangers and rustic effect.

Prehung Doors have recently specified P C Henderson’s Roomflex folding door hardware to create a room divider for two residential project’s in London. The project brief required a room divider to separate a large dining room and lounge into two rooms. The client required a modern, functional design which would allow the rooms to be seamlessly opened up as one. P C Henderson’s innovative Roomflex folding door hardware was identified as the best solution for the project.

The architectural consultant required sliding gear that was capable of moving two large gates with a weight of 3500kg. Our Straight Sliding 307 hardware was specified for its unique product capacity of 2000kg. We worked closely with the fabricator to come up with a solution to meet the weight capacity of the large gates and were able to find a solution by merging four hangers into one to effortlessly carry the gates. Due to their large size, the fabricator installed the 307 sliding hardware, together with the gates, on-site, utilising; 11 tracks, 18 hangers, 60 brackets and 10 stops.

LocationP C Henderson has recently been specified for a new build project at the UKs longest heritage railway, Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway.RequirementsAs the oldest independent railway in the world, Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway is a major tourist attraction - taking passengers on a scenic 40 mile journey through the hills between Blaenau Ffestiniog, Porthmadog harbour and Caernarfon.Boston Lodge Works is the railway’s main workshop and base for the daily train service. With over 55 carriages in service, the station required a storage facility which could house up to 30 carriages whilst also providing shelter for train cleaning and preparation which could be done away from the public eye. The project brief included the need for a robust entrance solution which could provide easy accessibility to the shed.Ian Hartill, Project Engineer at Ffestiniog Railway, commented “The original brief detailed the use of traditional outward opening hinge doors which we have used in previous projects. However, due to the coastal location of the building and the possibility of strong winds, this option was not possible. As a more suitable alternative, we found P C Henderson’s Tangent Round the Corner which could comfortably hold the large custom made doors”.SpecificationP C Henderson’s Tangent Round the Corner sliding door hardware was specified for both entrances of the storage facility and then combined with vertical multi-hinge round the corner doors to allow for easy access.Why P C Henderson?“The project brief also included significant aesthetic importance to maintain a similar visual appearance to the original 19th century workshop buildings on site. With its traditional hardware components Tangent Round the Corner achieved this perfectly - whilst also providing protection against corrosion due to the systems galvanised steel track”, continued Ian.Catering for metal and wooden doors weighing up to 70kg, Tangent Round the Corner is particularly suited to applications whereby a bunch of parked units is not practical. The system caters for extremely wide openings whilst also removing the need for protruding doors and therefore making the best use of space. To provide maximum security, all components of the system are installed to the interior of the door.

Sliding and folding door hardware manufacturer, P C Henderson, has recently donated materials to help with the rebuild of a primary school in Nepal after it was left devastated by an earthquake in 2015.Situated on a picturesque mountainside, the village of San Bhorle was left in ruins when the 7.8Mw earthquake hit, levelling every one of its 43 houses and primary school. All but one resident survived, but the community was left to rebuild their lives with no materials, tools or machinery.Learning Planet, a charity which helps remote communities design, finance and construct new schools, stepped in to help. As the only communal building in the village - and the only one which would have permanent power and internet access - the local community required a school building which could also be used for other events such as village meetings and celebrations.In order to achieve this level of flexibility, large bi-folding doors were needed in the centre of the building. This would allow the area to be used as a classroom when closed off or put to other uses when opened up. A folding partition wall was also to be installed in one of the classrooms, allowing teachers to create a private office space when necessary.Justin Wickham, Co-Founder and Executive Director at Learning Planet, commented “I was looking for a really solid system which would work faultlessly in a very remote location, for years, with minimal maintenance. Carrying ten solid hardwood doors measuring 225cm high x 50cm wide - it was important that the system could comfortably cope with a heavy load - whilst still allowing for effortless and safe opening by adults and children.“The Securefold system works beautifully for our requirements. We opted to install the doors in five sets of two – meaning they can be moved around in pairs to create gaps for fresh air, light and easy access. The doors can also be stacked completely clear of the opening – creating a huge, open, covered atrium – a perfect space for performances, and for hosting all kinds of village events.“The installation went smoothly except for a snag when we realised the Securefold bolts were a centimetre too long. We couldn’t shorten the bolts, or make/buy other ones to fit. It looked like a deal breaker until our carpenter appeared with some washers he’d made from a flip flop! It worked a dream. In remote locations, we often rely on that kind of ingenuity, as standard materials just aren’t available”, continued Justin.P C Henderson’s Husky Folding door hardware was also specified for the internal partition wall required in the classroom. Drench Showers, a UK manufacturer of bespoke aluminium door frames for shower enclosures and room partitions, has recently specified P C Henderson’s Husky 120 Pro for a luxury hotel renovation project in London.1 Hotel Mayfair began renovations in 2023 to combine two existing buildings to bring a sustainable, luxury hotel close to London’s iconic Green Park. The project brief demanded sophistication and luxury throughout their 181 guest bedrooms. This included the inclusion of bi-parting sliding doors in the Skyline bedroom suites to separate the bedroom and bathroom to not only maximise floor space but also allow for flexible privacy options and an open-plan layout if required.To fit with the minimalistic and modern aesthetic of the rest of the hotel, the brief also required slimline framed aluminium doors with integrated glass to enhance the flow of natural light in the suite but to also provide an element of privacy when the doors are closed.Drench Showers manufactured bespoke black aluminium framed partition doors with fluted glass for the project and did not hesitate to contact P C Henderson for a suitable sliding door hardware solution.Steve Middleton, Operations Director at Drench Showers, commented, “For this project, we required a sliding door system that could withstand our heavy, aluminium framed doors whilst still offering smooth and effortless operation.
