Millworks worked with Devlin Architects to deliver a mix of factory finished painted, fire protected and natural weathered Thermowood (Redwood) cladding. Thermowood was chosen due to the stability and ability to take a consistent painted finish, giving a longer service life. Vacuum coating gives the timber a consistent finish on all four sides. FRX Fire Treatment was pressure treated into the timber before painting to achieve a Euroclass B fire certificate. Summary: Grade. Sawfalling (sound tight knots) Width. 19x143mm Profile. Built by Inti Construction Ltd using a SIPS construction method, Siberian Larch cladding factory coated with Organowood creating a consistent silver/grey façade. Planed all round, supplied in set lengths with a fine-sawn face. Spaced with 10mm shadow-gaps, sitting on black Tyvek UV wrap to give definition in appearance. The Grade A, kiln dried Siberian Larch finished to a 118mm width has been factory coated with Organowood under controlled conditions to speed up the weathering, creating a consistent, uniformed appearance to all elevations. Seen in Grand Designs, the ‘Larch House’ is part of a professional development that sits next to the ‘Zinc House’. The complete envelope of this building is wrapped in Siberian Larch. Millworks supplied extra long lengths to set sizes. Therefore, the roof and walls have no joints – leaving the cladding clean and clinical. Millworks supplied the ‘Grade A’ Siberian Larch manufactured to exacting standards. The layout of cladding is planed all round (PAR) with a 10mm shadow gap – for added detail. Cambridge based architects ChadwickDryerClarke approached Millworks to supply Western Red Cedar cladding for this contemporary extension. The best grade of Western Red Cedar was chosen (no 2 clear and better). The Cedar battens were planed all round (MW-6) to 43x43mm, to create a clean and striking look. Full lengths of timber were supplied in set lengths, for quick installation and added aesthetic appeal. Factory coated UV protection was applied to the cladding battens, maintaining the amazing array of Cedars natural colours. Summary: UV factory coated Grade. No 2 Clear and Better Width. 43x43mm Profile. PAR PEFC certified
