Contemporary Home Using Composite Cladding in Charcoal

Contemporary Home Using Composite Cladding in Charcoal

CLADCO PROFILES LTD

This striking collection of dwellings stands as a perfect example of how cladding can be utilised to enhance the visual appeal of more traditional housing exteriors. Designed with thoughtful contrast and architectural intention, these newly constructed homes demonstrate how our Signature composite wall cladding can deliver both aesthetic impact and practical performance. With a rich woodgrain-effect finish, the black cladding boards have been applied mainly to the upper half of each build. This creates a strong horizontal line that catches the eye and breaks up the structure. The dark hue of the cladding offers a contemporary counterpoint to the earthy tones of the red brick below, and rather than blending in the facade, is a design feature that creates contrast upon the walls. What is interesting about the placement of the cladding on this project is the emphasis that it produces. The ‘cut-out’ area of red brick seems exposed against the harsh black and pops out as a result. As well as colour, the juxtaposition of textures in the rough brick and sleek composite boards adds depth to the buildings. Not only does the cladding elevate the appearance of the project, it provides practical benefits. These boards require minimal maintenance to provide long-term durability with protection against splintering, rotting, warping and insect damage. Situated at a low price point, these panels are an excellent substitute for traditional timber boards. They are also made from recycled materials to provide a more environmentally friendly cladding option for customer projects.Architectural detail also plays an important role in the final result of these homes. Cladco composite corner trims and fascia boards have been expertly installed around the various window designs, ranging from slimline rectangles to square frames to ensure a neat border. These accessories also serve the functional purpose of improving the weather resistance of the cladding system by concealing vulnerable joints from water ingress and debris. This project perfectly demonstrates how modern cladding solutions like our range of composite boards can be creatively integrated into new housing developments. By combining traditional materials with contemporary surfaces, dynamic and stand out aesthetics can be achieved while still blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment. These Hereford homes are not just residences, they are examples of how thoughtful design choices and quality materials can be combined to deliver interest to building exteriors.

Local Decking Project at Hatherleigh Primary School

Local Decking Project at Hatherleigh Primary School

CLADCO PROFILES LTD

At Cladco, we take great pride in supporting community initiatives and helping create spaces that make a positive difference. Our recent collaboration with Hatherleigh Primary School is a perfect example of how quality materials and local partnership can transform an everyday area into something lasting and meaningful. The school needed help with their Year 1 outdoor classroom area. where the existing decking had become weathered and unsafe for use. Understanding the importance of providing a safe, engaging space for young learners, we donated the composite decking boards needed to bring the area back to life. Our aim was to help create an outdoor area that would be safe, durable and long-lasting, ensuring that it could be used for years to come. For this project, our Signature solid composite decking boards were chosen. a premium choice ideal for high-traffic environments such as schools. The solid-core design provides superior strength and durability, while the reversible grooved surface was chosen for its low-slip properties, ensuring safety and peace of mind in all weather conditions. In addition to its functional benefits, our Signature composite decking contributes positively to sustainability in schools. Each board is made entirely from recycled materials, helping to reduce waste and minimise environmental impact. The use of eco-friendly decking not only supports greener initiatives but also provides an opportunity to integrate environmental awareness into the school’s culture. The completed decking area includes both steps and a ramp, ensuring accessibility for all students and staff. This thoughtful design allows for smooth access to the classroom, as well as doubling as a great storage area for wellies and other outdoor gear! The coffee-coloured decking was chosen to complement the natural wooden structure. Over time, the decking will gently weather and blend beautifully with the surrounding timber tones. The result is a cohesive look that fits seamlessly with the school’s indoor and outdoor environments. This project would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the Hatherleigh Primary School PTFA, who raised funds to cover the installation costs. A special thank you also to Martin Cole, who carried out the installation with great care and detail.Projects like this highlight our ongoing commitment to giving back and supporting local communities. By providing high-quality, sustainable materials and collaborating with passionate local teams, we hope to continue helping create spaces that inspire others and nurture the next generation.

Standing Seam in South East London Case Study

Standing Seam in South East London Case Study

With multiple angles and pitches, this project presented a complex challenge for installers, Knight Innovation Homes Ltd. However, thanks to our extensive range of standing seam flashings, including ridge flashings, corner barge flashings, verge flashing backer plates, and more, the result is a contemporary, high-performing roof system that not only functions beautifully but also delivers impressive visual impact. Our interlocking standing seam roof sheets are manufactured from 0.7mm thick SSAB Nordic quality steel, coated with an eco-friendly GreenCoat® Pural BT coating. This durable combination makes them ideal for both domestic and commercial projects. All our standing seam products are made from 100% recyclable materials, are BES 6001 certified, and rated A+ by the BRE Green Guide, ensuring minimal environmental impact.Look closely at the images above, and you’ll see the two 1.5mm ribs running along each sheet. These provide added structural strength and rigidity. For a smoother, cleaner finish, rib-free sheets are also available and can be ordered here. At the front of the property, the roof perfectly demonstrates the versatility of our standing seam system. Even with varying pitches, the sheets have been installed at an angle to effectively channel water into a central valley. The same straight-cut sheets have also been used to clad the edge of a small balcony, tying the dark roof into the overall colour scheme and preventing it from looking too top-heavy against the light brickwork. Though compact, the balcony adds personality to the façade, with the homeowner lining the wall with vibrant, tufted perennials to introduce colour and a natural touch.Complementing the roof’s sleek design, the rest of the property features cohesive, modern details, from the black composite door and window frames to the garden fencing and decorative metal screen. These darker tones are offset by the light grey driveway paving and beige brickwork, creating a balanced and well-composed exterior. While our Nordic night black finish is the most popular finish in our standing seam range, we also offer silver fir green, tile red, and slate grey options.Feeling inspired by this bold South London build?Whether you're planning a new project or upgrading an existing property, our standing seam roofing sheets offer the perfect blend of style, durability, and performance. The Big Wood Cabin Featured on Grand Designs

The Big Wood Cabin Featured on Grand Designs

CLADCO PROFILES LTD

Explore this woodland haven, an environmentally conscious self-build in the middle of the Welsh countryside. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the woods, this stunning project recently took the spotlight on Grand Designs 2025, showcasing Cladco roofing sheets within the innovative and sustainable design. The owners, Marcus and Abi, situated sustainability as the centre of the Big Wood Cabin, with their new home challenging the fast-paced city lifestyle by prioritising eco-friendly practices and materials.Constructed under the One Planet Development policy, the build is designed to minimise environmental impact and demonstrate measurable carbon reduction over the next five years. Now more than ever, every design choice matters when it comes to reflecting that commitment.Every component of the cabin has been thoughtfully considered to align with this vision. From the recycled concrete bricks that house the structure to the second-hand windows that line the lodge, all avenues have been considered. Even the timber, which clads the exterior, has been resourced from the woodland itself - only using trees that are at risk of disease or pose a threat to the house. One of the build’s understated features is the Cladco corrugated roofing sheets. Chosen for both its exceptional durability and distinctive aesthetic, the sheets are manufactured here in the UK from high-quality galvanised steel. Their robust PVC coating ensures long-term protection against the British weather, with minimal maintenance required after installation. The anthracite finish provides a sleek contrast to the warm-toned timber cladding as well as the rich greens of the surrounding environment, while the corrugated style provides a traditionally agricultural feel to the build.Crucially, the sheets contribute to the functionality and sustainability of the home as a whole. The ribbed profile provides structural strength as well as resistance against UV and water damage to help reduce the risk of discolouration and moisture build-up in the structure. An overhang has been implemented on the perimeter of the building to shield the exterior during the wetter months, helping to prolong the lifespan of the materials. This use of the roofing sheets is a great way to promote water runoff and prevent water from entering through the edges of the system. Overall, this creates a durable design that reinforces sustainable values. As well as skylights on the main structure of the house, corrugated rooflight sheets have been incorporated into the parts of the design to provide natural light, most notably above the outside bath! This ingenious addition creates a space where someone can experience the outdoors, while remaining protected from rain or debris, blurring the boundary between indoor comfort and outdoor living. The finished home embodies modern sustainable design by combining function and form with environmental responsibility. Beyond aesthetics, the build inspires reflection on how attainable it is to create sustainable projects. Whether it’s using recycled products in the construction or incorporating long-lasting and durable products within builds to prolong the life of homes. To find out more about the project, catch the full episode here.

The Black House with Cladco Black Fibre Cement Cladding

The Black House with Cladco Black Fibre Cement Cladding

CLADCO PROFILES LTD

Set against a backdrop of familiar mid-century homes, the beautiful 'Black House' makes an impressive, bold statement that draws attention from every angle. Clad in our fibre cement lap cladding boards in black, this stunning modern family home confidently breaks the mould, offering a sleek, striking contrast to its surroundings.Used throughout the property to maximise visual impact, the bold, monochrome theme created by our cladding boards is echoed in the perfectly colour-matched trims and fixings from our Cladco fibre cement cladding range. Other architectural features also continue the dark theme—from dark-grey slate roof tiles and black exterior doors to sleek black window frames and Juliet balcony balustrades. Together, these elements create a striking and cohesive exterior that gives the ‘Black House’ a dramatic sense of style that’s both unified and unforgettable.A modern take on traditional timber cladding, our fibre cement boards are manufactured from a durable blend of cement, sand, and cellulose fibres. Finished with three layers of baked-on paint, they feature a tough, woodgrain-effect surface, which provides the timeless look of painted timber, without the upkeep or hassle that natural wood demands. To ensure the home’s dark exterior never feels too overpowering, a variety of carefully placed windows and French doors have been incorporated into the architectural design. These not only soften the bold exterior but also invite natural light to flood the interior year-round, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels both vibrant and homely. The deep black cladding also provides the perfect canvas for introducing small, vibrant touches that bring the building to life. At the entrance, a pair of decorative pots housing elegant olive trees flank the front door, while the rest of the property is bordered by ornamental grasses in muted tones of green, copper, and purple, adding softness and colour without detracting from the home’s bold aesthetic.Don’t assume the ‘Black House’ only shows off its personality during daylight hours. Thanks to the clever use of integrated soffit lighting, the property remains beautifully illuminated after dark, highlighting its architectural lines and creating a truly striking effect by night. The influence of our Black Fibre Cement Lap Cladding Boards extends beyond the home’s striking façade. While the 'Black House' sets a bold, high-end tone from the street, it’s at the rear of the property where the sense of luxury truly comes into its own, revealing carefully considered features that elevate everyday living. Among them is this beautifully clad outbuilding, which houses both a summer house and a home sauna, positioned just steps from a stylish outdoor swimming pool.Looking for some more inspiration before starting your fibre cement cladding project? The Spinney Case Study

The Spinney Case Study

CLADCO PROFILES LTD

This cutting-edge design uses Cladco 32/1000 Box Profile 0.5 Thick Sheets as metal wall cladding. Cladco 34/1000 Box Profile 0.7 Thick Sheets have been used for the metal roofing and Cladco Woodgrain Cladding Boards in charcoal have also been used as composite cladding on the rest of the property.Renovations by @jamiewarebuilding began in May 2021, when he and the team skilfully transformed this property from a small, three-bed bungalow to what it is today – a vast two-storey dwelling featuring six bedrooms with four ensuite bathrooms, two reception rooms, a large open plan kitchen/diner with a built-in wine cellar and a sizeable balcony overlooking the remote area known as “The Spinney”.The Box Profile sheets used to clad and roof one-half of The Spinney’s exterior have been manufactured using galvanised steel and pre-coated in Black PVC Plastisol. PVC Plastisol has a 200-micron-thick coating that adds a high-quality, scratch-resistant finish to the Steel Sheets, whilst the embossed leather grain finish the PVC coating provides adds a traditional texture to an otherwise contemporary project. When installed as wall cladding, Cladco sheets bring a modern aesthetic to The Spinney - complementing the industrial feel of the project where mesh balcony balustrades have also been installed. Cladco steel sheets have low-maintenance and high-strength benefits, protecting any building from harsh weather conditions and side winds, whilst still being lightweight and easy to cut, install and handle. We recommend that when installed as cladding, our 0.5mm sheet thickness is used. Each 32/1000 steel sheet features six ridge profiles across its length. On the roof where our 34/1000 sheets have been installed alongside them, there is excellent rainwater run-off and any build-up of natural debris such as leaves and moss is prevented.A selection of Custom Made Cladco Flashings has been used to suit the unique shape and angles of The Spinney, creating a bespoke finish with seamless edging and an all-over weather-tight end product. The Spinney truly is the perfect example of how versatile Steel Sheeting can be. The other half of The Spinney’s exterior has been beautifully finished using Cladco Woodgrain Composite Wall Cladding Boards in charcoal. They have been installed vertically - elongating the building whilst stylishly coinciding with the metal wall cladding. Composite cladding boards are a low-maintenance and effortless way to get that real wood effect - and on The Spinney, the woodgrain texture on the boards blends seamlessly with the surrounding woodland area. There's no need to paint, stain, treat, or varnish. Simply install the product on any external wall and witness the transformation.  Despite the modern and industrial-like feel to the project, with its inky hues and dark exterior, homely finishing touches have been added in the form of a welcoming porch boot room and small outside seating area. The entire project is surrounded by various floral hanging baskets, blossoming trees, and climbing plants - all of which bring pops of colour, character, and a lived-in ambience to The Spinney as a home.Want to see more impressive projects where Cladco Box Profile Sheets have been used?
