New corporate headquarters for a growing independent distiller called for the perfect blend of outdoor infrastructure to reflect its strong local identity.Ian Macleod Distillers (IMD) embarked on the new HQ project after outgrowing its nearby Russell House head office.The £4.5 million development features two prominent glass towers representing the traditional ventilation shafts of Scottish whisky distilleries.And when it came to the design and creation of the building's outdoor spaces, Broxap's Litchard range provided a similar timeless yet unique aesthetic for the site.Working for Clark Contracts, Broxap designed, manufactured and installed a suite of furniture including two Litchard Picnic Units and 16 Litchard Benches.Our teams collaborated with the project leaders to create 8 Litchard Seats, as well as tables and short benches, to specific dimensions to enable unique group seating configurations.A Palisade Brise Soleil adds another dimension to the breakout space. Door barriers, complete with tapping bars to meet Scotland’s disability access standards, completed the project.The main building delivers 10,000 sq ft of office space for IMD and is the commercial hub for the independent family firm which owns brands including Edinburgh Gin, Glengoyne, Tamdhu and Smokehead.

This new build school benefitted from these Keep it Kool barrel style canopies for their outdoor dining area.The light, airy yet extremely durable tensile fabric provided the ideal solution to keeping pupils dry and in shade whilst eating their lunch. Broxap also provided the picnic seating beneath the canopies.The modular design allows for easy extension of the canopies in the future to add more coverage.

Aspire, Believe, Achieve are the three words are at the heart of everything at Lee Chapel Primary School. They encourage children to aspire to be anything they want, believe wholeheartedly that they can do it and achieve their goals through hard work and perseverance.The school forms part of the Lee Chapel Multi-Academy Trust, which has opened doors to a £10.6 million school boasting brand new classrooms, a huge library, dedicated science and design technology rooms, creating more than 400 school places for children in September 2024.Continuing its provision of excellence, the school wanted to update their existing play area to something more exciting and engaging for students to play on during break and lunch times.The Meadows Play Unit, featuring a clatter bridge, trapeze rings, climbing walls and a slide among other activities, provides a range of challenges for younger students for active break times. A balance beam joins swing steps to the main unit, and a fireman’s pole provides a fun way to descend form the play tower. The climb around features a custom finish with the school logo engraved on main tower roof.The new play equipment was installed on wet pour by the Hand Made Places installation team, which is suitable for all weather conditions, low maintenance and reduces the risk of injury.This is our second project for the school, following a pirate/viking themed playground installation in 2016.

Travel to London Luton Airport (LLA) is being made easier, faster and greener with the development of the DART people mover.And the final journey between shuttle stop and airport terminal is via a covered walkway designed, manufactured and installed by Broxap.The walkway complements a series of canopies we created for the airport in 2019 as part of a bus and coach station upgrade.Together the DART (Direct-Air-Rail-Transit) system and bus services are designed to encourage more people to leave their cars behind when flying from LLA as well as offer sustainable travel options to employees.The 150-metre bespoke walkway guiding passengers to the terminal from the DART station is based on Broxap’s flagship ‘Newcastle’ design.The freestanding walkway features clear multi-wall polycarbonate cladding and is an essential element in the passenger journey, forming the final connection between ground transportation and the boarding of aircraft.A bespoke Hartcliffe Cantilever Shelter has also been made for the DART building to form a covered entrance area.Testing of the shuttle system is now underway with an announcement on its opening due in early 2023.

Following the success of other park gyms, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and the Trust at Tunstall Park commissioned Sunshine Gym to install outdoor fitness equipment for adults.At Sunshine Gym we offer various packages to make the decision process easier. On the other hand, we also offer individual units, all offering fantastic health benefits for users to enjoy at their own pace and level.The Trust opted for the “mix & match” approach, curating their own outdoor fitness package to meet their needs. As well as the wellbeing aspect of sociable fitness, the combination of equipment in Tunstall Park gym offers great value. That’s because these seven pieces of equipment can actually be used by fourteen users at once, each working individually and at their own pace.In addition to the equipment itself, Sunshine Gym also supplied tarmac surfacing and expert installation. Therefore this park gym really is here to stay!Good to know: all Sunshine Gym outdoor fitness equipment has unique safety-stop systems and no in-built resistance; this makes our park gyms safer and more accessible.

A college campus, designed with student experiences in mind, has invested in a series of litter bins to ensure a clean and tidy welcome.Newcastle College, part of Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG), is a close neighbour of Broxap Street Furniture.It consists of a £65 million campus and a £5.5 million Performing Arts Centre.NSCG is the first further education provider in England to achieve the top grades in every area of Ofsted’s reformed Education Inspection Framework (EIF).Ofsted’s inspection report, published in November 2019, praised all areas of the College’s provision and acknowledged NSCG’s ‘positive, stimulating and safe learning environment’.Its recent order with Broxap included 30 Derby Wall Litter Bins. Manufactured from galvanised steel, the 80-litre capacity bins are polyester powder coated Anthracite Grey and feature the Tidyman logo in silver with laser cut lettering.Eleven Westleigh Litter Bins were also delivered to site.The 75-litre Westleigh bins also feature a galvanised steel structure, powder coated Anthracite Grey to match the Derby Wall Litter Bins.The front opening door is finished with five Iroko hardwood slats.The litter bins were supplied by Broxap in time for the launch of a series of college tours and open events, giving prospective students and their families the chance to explore the campus and its learning and social spaces.

Newcastle-under-Lyme is a family-oriented town known for its stunning country parks, fascinating history and bustling markets.The council invested in several of our K-Nine dog waste bins in a bid to improve public hygiene, reduce the presence of dog waste in public areas, and encourage responsible pet ownership.Extremely strong and durable steel dog waste bins, the K-Nine bins feature an anti-tamper chute depositing system that allows people to dispose of pet waste easily and cleanly.Galvanised and powder-coated in bright red to ensure visibility, the bins feature a substantial 60-litre capacity to help decrease the amount of waste found on ground surfaces in parks and public areas. They’re also finished with a ‘Clean It Up!’ vinyl sticker featuring a dog graphic and a hook to keep four-legged friends safe while cleaning up their waste.The installation contributes to a more visually appealing environment within Newcastle, prompting residents to take greater pride in their community.

Sunshine Gym have provided a brand new outdoor gym at Newton Primary School in Derbyshire.Newton Primary School decided upon the Primary School Outdoor Fitness Package which provided a pre-determined mixture of equipment specially selected by our experts to encourage fitness within primary schools. The equipment can be used by eight pupils simultaneously. Inclusive of both multi and single user equipment this package can be used as a gentle cardiovascular workout. It features two pieces of multi-user equipment, and these ‘dual’ units promote social interaction whilst still allowing the pupils to exercise at their own pace.The outdoor gym equipment was installed on grass saver matting. This additional safety surface, over time, will encourage the grass to grow through and be mowed. Thus allowing it blend with the natural surroundings.This specific outdoor fitness package is to be used by children under 140cm. This makes it perfect for the KS1 & KS2 pupils, and they can use it for small classes for PE pupils or even as an after school fitness initiative.

Sunshine Gym has installed a series of multi gyms at Northlands Primary School in Essex following requests for outdoor fitness equipment from the school parliament.The new equipment is available for children in the junior classes to use at break times and lunch times on a rota basis.The equipment will also be incorporated into PE lessons. Teachers at the school say the gym has been a great way to keep pupils active and improve their physical fitness outside of the classroom.

Homes England, the government’s housing and regeneration agency has announced £120,000 of grant funding to help organisations promote community cohesion and enhance the vibrancy of life in Northstowe, a new town under development north of Cambridge.Northstowe is set to be transformed into a thriving new community of around 25,000 people over the next twenty years – a diverse community is already shaping its unique identity.The project had numerous goals, and primarily wanted to increase community engagement by providing seating areas that would encourage residents to socialise. They wanted to keep the area clean by having easy litter disposal so the environment would be clean and welcoming.Improving the playscape was another key objective with a focus on fun and visually pleasing sculptures that would match the modern housing association architecture. This was achieved with Hand Made Places, a Broxap division. See the case study here.Broxap offered an ideal solution with their selection of benches and litter bins. We provided several of our Whitwell Benches, known for their ergonomic design and manufactured from FSC-certified timber.We also provided a number of our Brocastle Picnic Benches providing ample seating for picnics, barbecues, and outdoor gatherings with the housing development.The area will be kept clean and litter free with the addition of our Winchester Canopied Litter Bins and our Athena Double Litter & Recycling Bins.Matthew Brown, head of large sites at Homes England, said “Supporting people to form connections and build a sense of belonging is critical when it comes to creating new places – particularly when it comes to significant new developments like Northstowe.”

Working with Farrans Construction, the main contractor on this new-build school project, Broxap provided a large amount of external furniture as well as specialised SEN (Special Educational Needs) equipment. Oaklands School is centred around developing skills and learning for pupils with disabilities or special needs.Items include:A modified version of the Forest Story House,A special equipment timber shed,Timber planters,Full support and wheelchair accessible swings from our Hand Made Places division,Timber benches,A ‘spinning bowl’,A Caversham Gazebo with integral seating,Trampolines specifically designed to sit within the ground to allow easy access for disabled children and wheelchair users.These items were all installed onto specialist play surfacing provided by Broxap. For example, coloured wet pour and artificial grass.Broxap also installed a series of cantilever, fabric, shade sail canopies at various locations within the play areas; these provide rain shelter and shade to the play areas.The school will also see benefits in other areas; Broxap supplied a series of stainless steel, access control bollards to the school frontage and door stops to the classrooms. Also supplied by Broxap was the cycle parking element for the school, a series of Broxap Wardale Shelters.Broxap’s Sunshine Gym division provided a series of outdoor gym equipment to a soft play area which included an Arm & Pedal Bicycle, a Double Slalom Skier, children’s Double Squat Push and Double Power Push units and a Sky Stepper.The whole school playground and external furniture package now adds a bright and user-friendly series of play areas that the pupils and staff can utilise.
Oakmoor School, Bordon

Outdoor spaces were designed with purpose and meaning at the new Oakmoor School in Bordon.Reducing internal floor space and ensuring students and staff benefit from time outdoors during the day, the configuration of the school includes external teaching space, outdoor dining areas and open air performance and assembly space.In collaboration with contractor Kier Construction, Broxap was commissioned to design, manufacture and install a series of shelters and canopies to ensure the outdoor spaces can be utilised all year round.This was complemented by an extensive suite of school site furniture to further support the collegiate campus design. Replacing what was Mill Chase Academy, the £30 million 900-place Oakmoor School was designed by Hampshire County Council with four separate buildings around a central courtyard.Broxap created seven canopies based on the contemporary Burntwood design along with two Newcastle shelters.These were utilised throughout the campus to create shaded socialising and dining space, entrance canopies, walkway as well as outdoor classrooms.Due to the design of the school, which replaced the former Mill Chase Academy in the town, our project management teams employed specialist equipment such as spider cranes to lift components into place.In addition to the courtyard canopies, our teams built a timber clad cycle shelter which was in keeping with the sustainable design and high architectural quality of the project.Broxap’s Litchard street furniture range including picnic tables and benches proved the ideal match to the aesthetics of the surrounding buildings, along with contemporary Budworth litter bins.
