There are over 30,000 educational establishments in the UK ranging from small local authority maintained primary schools to universities with estates that are almost the size of a small village – the diversity of educational facilities, their challenges and development needs, continues to evolve. As the needs of this sector are so diverse, HM Government’s Educations Skills & Funding Agency recently produced a Generic Design Brief for schools which provides broad guidance on the type of floor finishes that should be used across schools. This publication aims to translate that guidance into practical flooring covering solutions for primary and secondary mainstream schools.
