Viridian Apartments

OVERVIEW

At Viridian Apartments, a residential development in South West London, RYNO was selected to supply our ADB-60 Aluminium Deck Board in RAL 7039 as part of a large-scale fire remediation project. Working in partnership with Urang Group, City Restoration Ltd, and the installer Decking UK, the project replaced non-compliant timber decking across several levels of balconies with RYNO’s fully non-combustible aluminium decking system - bringing the development up to current fire safety standards and restoring safe outdoor access for residents.

The Challenge

Over time, the building’s original timber decking had deteriorated - exposed to the elements and weakened by years of insufficient maintenance. Many residents were unable to use their balconies safely, and with new fire regulations in place, full replacement was essential.

The challenge lay in delivering a compliant, durable, and fast-turnaround solution across multiple balcony levels, each with varying heights and substrate levels, including tricky upstands. The project team also faced tight deadlines, requiring materials to be delivered and installed within a short timeframe to keep remediation works on schedule.

The Solution

RYNO supplied the TerraSmart® Aluminium Decking system, utilising our popular ADB-60 board. Fire-rated, fully compliant, and engineered for fast installation in complex retrofit environments.

Key features included:

    • Euroclass A-rated non-combustible aluminium decking, ensuring complete compliance with current fire safety regulations.
    • Flexible height adjustment, wide range of joist and support options allowed for quick installation across balconies with varying height build-ups required.
    • Rapid turnaround, most materials available in 2 weeks or less, enabling the main contractor to meet strict project deadlines.
    • Standard range of five board lengths, perfectly suited to the differing balcony dimensions across the development.
    • RAL 7039 powder coated finish (Qualicoat Class 2), providing a clean, contemporary aesthetic that complements the building’s façade - whilst also not compromising on durability, scratch resistance and slip resistance.

Installation began with the ground floor terraces—where timber deterioration was most severe and will continue to upper levels as part of the ongoing remediation programme.

Collaboration with City Restoration, Urang Group & Decking UK

RYNO worked closely with City Restoration Ltd (Main Contractor) and Urang Group (Property Management) to support fast delivery and ensure smooth installation and logistics.

Arsen Berbati and his team at Decking UK carried out the installation, praising the ADB-60 system’s wide board profile, which allows for faster fitting and fewer fixings, as well as its ease of cutting on site.

Feedback from residents has been overwhelmingly positive - many have begun enjoying their balconies again for the first time in years, confident in the safety and longevity of their new aluminium decking.

The Finishing Touch

At RYNO, we like to build relationships as strong as our systems. During the site visit, Arsen from Decking UK mentioned how much he enjoyed the RYNO Hot Sauce he received - a small but fiery token of partnership that’s become a bit of a legend among our installers.

From fire compliance to fast delivery (and a touch of heat), the Viridian Apartments project is a perfect example of how RYNO delivers more than just systems; we deliver confidence, collaboration, and results that last.
