OVERVIEW
REQUIREMENT: Internal and external modular ramps to overcome the steps into the cathedral and provide wheelchair access.
END RESULT:
The greatest care is taken with historic ramp installations, with measures to prevent any damage being caused to the cathedral’s floors and walls.
None of the ramps required ground or wall fixings. Once the components are bolted together, the weight of the systems themselves keeps them neatly in place. Plus, slip-resistant rubber tiles were added underneath each support feet.
If wedding parties request photos at the entrances without the ramps in view, the systems can be dismantled before an event. They can later be reinstalled. This is a benefit that neither a wooden nor concrete ramp can accommodate for.
