Car Park Resin System - Capital Quarter Multi-Storey

The Project

The Capital Quarter Development was more than just a facelift for Cardiff City Centre; it was part of the city’s regeneration scheme, covering over 10 acres of land and outlining plans for over 1,025,000 sq. ft. of development. This included offices, hotels, student housing, and educational facilities. To support the new development, a multi-storey car park was required.

The Challenge

The main contractor insisted that the car park should make a bold impression upon its grand opening, using high-quality materials for its exterior. They also wanted to ensure that the structure would have lasting protection for years to come. Degafloor was contacted for advice on a suitable, cost-effective, high-performance waterproofing system for the top deck, ramp, and interdeck areas of the car park.

Consultation

Degafloor’s representatives conducted several site visits and performed a comprehensive assessment that addressed the client’s requirements. Degafloor specified the following systems:

-        The Car Park Top Deck system with fleeced banding to address substrate cracks and all upstands for the top deck.

-       The Car Park Heavy Duty system for the ramp, along with a fully fleeced CP TD system for areas over occupied car parks.

Feedback

The main contractor for the Capital Quarter Development was impressed with the fast-curing MMA technology, noting its durability and rapid curing time of just one hour following installation. Despite the installation occurring at a cold temperature of -6°C, the visual aesthetics were not compromised.

The Results

This combination of superior performance, skid resistance, rapid cure times, and design flexibility contributed to the project’s positive outcomes, with no complaints about the markings fading which can be used on roads, for road markings, and for road repairs.
