54 Bishops Avenue

OVERVIEW

54 The Bishops Avenue is a £200m residential development in London’s Hampstead area, N2.

This heritage-led locally listed site will be restored to its former glory as the centrepiece of the development, which will contain two apartments, with the surrounding areas containing a landscaped courtyard garden and 30 new apartments.

The Challenge

  • An extensive length of capping beam over contiguous piles was an initial challenge
  • The contractor was looking for more efficient ways to detail the waterproofing at this interface

The Solution

  • Premcrete created an innovative way of detailing the membrane at the capping beam interface, which required installing a structural blinding of concrete in between contiguous piles and the capping beam, therefore enabling a continuous coating of Hydroseal FX over a concrete section, along the base of the capping beam.
  • This negated the requirement for the cutting of membrane around pile heads - leading to a more straightforward solution.
