The flexibility of lead allows the slate base to be dressed to tiles of all profiles avoiding wind lift or chatter problems. Slates are cut for BS EN 12588 Code 4 rolled lead sheet and fabricated by lead welding. Slate upstands are avaiable in five diameters from the 50 mm to 150 mm at angles 30° and 45° to the base for pitched roofs and 90° for flat roofs.

It has excellent water resistance and is suitable for direct installation over insulation, boarded roofs or rafters. The product is suitable for all pitched cold and warm roofs, and may also be used as a high specification wall breather. The roll is black on one side, with lines for lapping over, and white on the reverse. Novia Black is suitable for use in BS 5534 wind uplift applications. Following successful tests, Novia Black can be used in zone 1 without additional tapes, and in zones 1-5 using our Breather Membrane lap tape.

Due to the coatings excellent tensile strength there is usually no need to incorporate additional reinforcing fabric; the system is easily applied by brush, roller or squeegee. When properly installed by SIGs Accredited Contractors (DATAC) the products are guaranteed for 10 years.
A separate liquid coating and thickening agent are also available for total roof coverage.

Spectratex geotextiles are a range of non-woven polyester geotextile isolation and protection layers. Used to protect the Spectraplan or Armourplan waterproofing membrane on ballasted or green roof build ups and can be used as a separation layer between PVC membranes and incompatible substrates such as existing bituminous membrane roofs or polystyrene thermal insulation boards. The Spectratex geotextiles are available in 3 grades – 300 gsm, 500 gsm, and 800 gsm. Heavier grades should be utilised in more onerous situations such as when overlaying an existing bituminous roof where it’s impractical to remove all of the chippings. The Spectratex geotextiles are installed loose laid with a 150 mm side and end overlap.
