Van Leeuwen kozijnen had an easy decision to make when choosing the ideal material for their new office building, due to such positive past experience with Accoya. As well as the Accoya frames & doors that were produced in their own joinery workshop, 30 mm thick panels were also made to fill the space between the frames throughout this project. Accoya boards were selected for all the cladding. The cladding was then fixed with an invisible clip system. Thanks to Accoya’s superior dimensional stability, the cladding in the building will stay straight & aligned.

The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is the UK’s agency for providing hydrographic and marine geospatial data to mariners and maritime organisations across the world. Their visually stunning new headquarters in Taunton has been designed based on the concept of contours and currents by multi-award winning architects, AHR. An impressive central atrium with feature stair connects the two wings with access to the upper floors reached by a feature stairway which leads onto open platforms and connecting walkways. The fluid lines and vast spaces gives the interior a sense of openness in such a large structure and is an incredibly inspiring environment in which to work. Lusso worked closely with BAM and AHR on the internal glazing requirements to create administration offices, a meeting suite, training rooms, as well as recreation and dining areas to the ground floor. The use of Lusso 25 single glazed partition system and Lusso 105 double glazed partition system allowed for the different acoustic and structural design specifications throughout the building. The clever use of glass partitions has ensured that the requirement for a “one team approach” design brief has been met. The UKHO can now boast highly impressive headquarters, befitting of a world leading geospatial information company. Opened by HRH The Princess Royal, it has now been nominated and won several design awards and is on course to achieve BREEAM Excellent.  

CREATING DEFINED ZONES IN OPEN PLAN OFFICE WITH MAXIBEAM AND SUPASLAT >> An office project in an outstanding building in a prime location overlooking London’s Oxford Street deserves a premium interior! This was achieved by the cleverly designed open-plan layout. The design includes a mix of social, collaborative, private and meeting spaces, each with its own distinct feel. Our Timber Slatted Ceilings System were chosen as the ideal solutions for the boardroom and large general meeting space.

This work at Holborn’s Chancery House  — The Office Group’s largest location to date spanning 127,000 sq ft — focused on a design that accommodates multiple working zones and breakout spaces, enhances wellbeing and offers an abundance of natural light.Radii’s design department provided multiple bespoke solutions for this fit out, working on four of the building’s nine floors.For glazed fronts, our elegant Parallel 50 (Rw 45 dB) double glazed partitions in emulated satin stainless steel finish — a reference to the historic London Silver Vaults that are located at the base of Chancery House — were utilised along with wraparound framing and a custom blade detail to create an eye-catching visual effect.On the Ground floor, single glazed Linear 59 partitions (Rw 39 dB) with a bespoke pocket sliding door into drywall was installed for platform lift access.Finally, E30 fire rated double doors were placed on the Lower Ground Floor to provide fire route protection.

Yaasa Ltd. has established itself as a leading force in the online sale of ergonomically adjustable office furniture. With the expansion of its headquarters in Lannach, the company is creating not only space for innovation and product development but also new, accessible workplaces for up to 50 employees. The building, which was constructed in a strict economical manner, meets the European targets for a “Nearly Zero Emission Building". Thus, Yaasa demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and, with its own showroom, offers customers the opportunity to experience products firsthand. Lindner played a key role in the sustainable interior fit-out of the new company building: By using raised floors made from recycled wood panels, Lindner demonstrates how resource conservation and sustainability in the construction industry can also be put into practice. The wooden floors have the same physical and technical properties as a new flooring system – without compromising the special quality of the working environment. The texture of the wooden floor contributes to a pleasant atmosphere and completes the overall result of homely workspaces.

EQUITONE [pictura] in colour Porcelain [PW141] was specified for the design of these newly constructed offices in Venlo, Netherlands.

Structural Repairs’ office space was beautifully and seamlessly integrated into one of Windsor’s iconic train station arches. This newly built office space boasts from its impressive structural logistics and boldly featured decorative and themed memorabilia at many of its cozy corners.Via a combination of the fire grit machine, TORC system (seen in the images and videos), water by pressure and a DOFF system, the carbon accumulated in the brickwork was removed. These methods, especially the DOFF system, work with high-pressure stream and extremely high temperatures.Brick cleaning is an arduous and labor intensive process by which a brick masonry, also known as a layer of brick which has been laid on the wall’s outermost surface, is cleaned. Brick cleaning is required at various different stages of a building’s life, and with our arch, a cleaning was more than overdue to restore it back to its original condition!

The extension and refurbishment of these offices needed high-quality systems befitting their prestigious location adjacent to Windsor Castle and the listed Eton Central Station.The Windsor Dials complex comprises two buildings, Windsor One and Two. Building one had a double-height entrance installed and a two-storey glazed extension added to the roof. A double-height entrance was also created in building two with a single-storey extension to the roof. The glazed extensions provide the offices with views of Windsor Castle and the surrounding area.Hale Architects designed the project with Corley Woolley as the main contractor. Anglian Architectural fabricated and installed the building envelope. It features Schüco FSW 60 and FWS 50 S curtain walling, providing the contemporary aesthetic the client requested. The project also used Schüco door systems, including the ADS 65 HD and ASE 60 lift-and-slide doors.

Brief: Part of a £20m development, the new building is used for a number of purposes: As the Business School, it is part of the University and is expected to bring an additional 2000 students to the University. It contains all the necessary educational facilities. There are teaching areas, both for large and small groups, with quiet areas which are conducive to solo study, a number of leisure and relaxation areas, administration offices, as well as a spacious cafeteria.The aim of the school is to inspire students to be active participants in business, rather than observers, by providing a shared space for academics, students and enterprise, where everyone can learn from everybody else.

During Phase 1 of the project, Big Yellow worked alongside Hollis Global, real estate consultants, and Welbro, specialists in the refurbishment of industrial buildings. Hollis was responsible for the project management and successful installation of the PV system by EvoEnergy. After concluding the roofs were not fit for solar in their current condition, Hollis introduced Sharmans roof refurbishment systems to bring the roofs back up to standard.

Capital Dock, a 22-storey mixed usedevelopment, including office blocksand residential areas, is in the vibrantDublin Docklands and was developed byKennedy Wilson.John Sisk & Son were the main contractors, and Clarke Contracts installed 25,000m² of Cemfloor, the chosen screed for the project.The main advantage Cemfloor has over the flowing screeds is the quicker drying time. It also eliminates any risk of incompatibility with cement-based adhesives and levellers and no special preparations are needed before hand. After looking at their options, Cemfloor was chosen for the project due to its faster installation time and drying time compared to traditional sand and cement screeds. This helped to keep the project on track with its tight building schedule.Due to its flowing nature, Cemfloor was pumped and placed 20 stories high without issue. The limited space available on site was also a factor to be considered and was resolved by using Cemfloor. It was delivered to the site ready mixed which eliminated the need of on-site mixing and storage of sand and cement on site.

Atlantic Square is a 300,000sq ft office and residential development with group floor retail and leisure. Manage acoustics across several UK offices for a high-profile government department. The aim was to create different zones to enhance privacy, manage acoustics and reflect client branding and culture.

Situated between Antwerp and Ghent, this new build office in the town of Temse was finished with EQUITONE [tectiva], arranged in variously sized and placed panels, giving a contemporary, but minimalist finish to the building.

TBC Bank Head Office Tbilsi, Georgia

A tri-coloured, retrofitted facade was created for the Newport headquarters of the Office for National Statistics (ONS). This unique and striking rainscreen facade was achieved using 6,800m² of EQUITONE [natura] in a combination of colours and panel sizes.

Helmsman have manufactured and supplied three compartment luxury Glass Lockers that have been installed at Eos Interiors office in Birmingham. The formica storm colour against the white interior walls and Ojmar OCS combination locks give a modern finish. Special numbering plates were used to match the modern style. The Glass Lockers are floating in the middle of the wall thanks to our locker stands and cladding.

Helmsman won an exciting Leicestershire Police project for charging lockers with bespoke specifications. Leicestershire Police is the territorial Police force responsible for policing Leicestershire and Rutland areas in England.For this project, we had to balance two sets of needs. We needed to create an ideal storage solution for technological equipment and to deliver something stylish and space-saving. Our team recommended a few options, but being able to provide a bespoke powered solution was most important.Helmsman manufactured, supplied and delivered bespoke powered lockers to the headquarter office in Enderby for the frontline staff. Above all, these lockers serve the purpose of storing technological devices such as laptops and airwave radios. Security has been the key to this project. A request of 12 compartments per locker meant lockers could hold more items within the small space.Inside each compartment, there are 2 UK sockets with double USB portals on each side. Each locker compartment has a four-number combination lock for protection. Every locker has a ‘D’ door which can open all locker compartments with one master key, only accessible for supervisors who may need to reset locks for a single locker compartment. The ON/OFF switch is located at the top of each locker in the sloping top, saving electricity and keeping clear of clutter. Sizes are 1800mm high by 450mm wide and 500mm deep, been powder coated in standard colours of ‘ice’ and ‘royale’ for the doors. These doors have bespoke square perforations specifically requested by Leicestershire Police. In addition, they are easy to use and plug into a standard wall socket.Emergency service personnel in mind, Police lockers provide robust, practical storage solutions. We manufacture a variety of Police lockers for uniforms, kits and other equipment.

As a part of the development of the company, BT are planning to reduce their number of working locations from over 300 to just 30. BT Bristol features flexible workspaces, the latest IT and smart building technology, restaurants and cafes and a rooftop wildflower meadow terrace with panoramic views of Bristol.An important aspect of the development of this new building was its eco credentials. With the whole company seeking to reduce its carbon emissions, choices were made throughout the design and build process to support this aim. As well as the rooftop meadow, the building features a heating system from the low-carbon district heating network and aspects that encourage employees to make greener choices about their travel to and from work. In order to support this, the BT Bristol office building features parking for around 270 bicycles, as well as changing rooms, showers and lockers.Helmsman were excited to be contacted by Honeyfield Property Services to supply and install the lockers at BT Bristol. The client requested Heated Z Lockers, with hasp locks for the user to attach their own padlock.Heated Lockers are a great addition to a cycle storage area, providing a storage solution that can dry damp clothes as well as keep your items safe during the working day.The Z shape is a particularly good choice for heated lockers, as the user can hang their clothing in the taller area of the locker and let the heated locker do the hard work.Air flows through the locker through a perforated base, and perforations at the top of the locker allow the damp air to escape. The tube heaters are positioned within the stands of the locker and can be either plugged into a 3-pin power socket or wired into a fused switch.In keeping with BT Bristol’s aim for carbon efficiency, the laminate used for the project was Graphite by BioCarbon Laminates. This is one of Helmsman’s standard laminate options, and is a carbon neutral material.In addition to the lockers, we also supplied and installed seat stands, with adjustable feet, and ash hardwood seat slats. Covering an impressive 1,000m², this project required a flooring solution that matched Google's ethos of innovation, quality, and sustainability.  Snowdonia Essential Plus Terrazzo tiles, chosen for this project, feature a subtle off-white base with varying sizes of grey and white chips. This modern engineered marble is not just about aesthetics it boasts exceptional quality and sustainability credentials, being LEED-certified. This certification underscores the tiles contribution to energy efficiency and environmental design in buildings. Google's new London HQ, envisioned by renowned architects Heatherwick Studio and Bjarke Ingels Group and brought to life by BDP, reimagines the traditional office space. The design prioritizes a low-rise structure that harmonizes with the urban landscape of King's Cross, emphasizing subtlety and consideration in every aspect. Being part of the creation of Google's groundbreaking London headquarters was an opportunity to showcase our commitment to quality, sustainability, and design excellence. The Snowdonia Essential Plus Terrazzo tiles not only complement the aesthetic vision of the architects but also contribute to the building's overall sustainability goals. 

Creating a simple, uncluttered, clean space with a utilitarian look and feel was the goal for the re-design of Hanson Architect’s Office space. The practice was impressed by the fact that SMARTPLY OSB3 panels are manufactured from renewable materials and had fewer issues with formaldehyde than standard OSB or MDF. For the re-design of its own office and meeting room, Hanson wanted to make use of a material that reflected its own character and identity –SMARTPLY OSB provided the answer.

The Old Sorting Office is a development comprising of 83 one and two bedroom studio apartments located in the heart of Bournemouth. Spanning over six floors, with two retail units on the ground floor, this scheme fills the gap between the surrounding buildings and repairs the grain of development on Albert Road. Design using a Traditional, Contemporary style, this development is in close proximity to an array of various local restaurants, pubs and shops.Cellecta’s ScreedBoard 28 was specified by ARC Architecture due to the high sound reduction performance and low floor levels. As it’s suitable for all floor types, it is frequently viewed as the solution of choice for new build and refurbishment developments. Its interlocking edges for installation convenience, high density, and unique resilient layer provides unrivalled acoustic performance.Herbert H Drew was supplied 2,800m² of Cellecta products for this development in Bournemouth.

Architectural practice, dMFK, attract staff back to the office with Oscar Acoustics market-leading SonaSpray acoustic ceiling spray.In 2022, award-winning architectural practice dMFK, in collaboration with architects Sher + White, embarked on refurbishing dMFK’s HQ in Fitzrovia, London, to create a collaborative space for its workforce. They enlisted Oscar Acoustics to help create an acoustically balanced environment which would also work with the aesthetics of the interior space.SonaSpray K-13 was applied in a stunning pale grey colourway to the ceilings of the areas with the greatest potential for excess noise – the communal areas, large meeting rooms, and co-working spaces.On the finished project, De Metz commented: “We’re thrilled with how the office looks and performs. Oscar Acoustic’s SonaSpray is the single most noticeable and effective material in our office and directly contributes to day-to-day comfort and the ability to work without bothering others.”

Due to proven technology and a proven track record, AkzoNobel was chosen to supply fire and corrosion protection coatings for the Akpo FPSO.The vessel is 310 meters in length with facilities for 240 crew members and storage for two million barrels of oil. With two processing trains for the separation of oil and water, and an average production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, the Akpo FPSO is a high-value installation. The risk of catastrophic hydrocarbon fires was a significant concern during construction, as was the risk of metal corrosion in the harsh offshore conditions.With outstanding technical knowledge and a long, successful track record in the new-build FPSO market, AkzoNobel was selected as the protective coatings supplier for the project. Chosen from the market-leading Chartek range of fire protection products, Chartek 7 is a light-weight epoxy intumescent ideal for providing PFP (Passive Fire Protection) in offshore installations, due to its excellent water and chemical resistance.

The company needed a slat wood wall in an office refit. MicroSlat - a lightweight, modular solution that's easy to install and provides acoustic absorption - was chosen in a bespoke Sand Ash finish. The 2.75m standard panel height is taller than other panels on the market and provides increased floor to ceiling coverage.

The Met Office’s new state of the art building in Exeter Science Park features a large IT hall, along with a striking two-story ‘collaboration’ building, which will be a home for world-class research into climate change. In order to create a contemporary design which blended in with the natural landscape, Marshalls’ assisted the landscape design team in selecting the Prospero, Thalassa and Tritanial granites due to their complimentary tones and textures which matched the contemporary architectural design which juxtaposed with seminaturalised areas of sweeping soft landscaping and semi-mature native tree planting.

Our lightweight MaxiBeam System in a warm oak finish adorns the ceiling in a newly renovated 76,000 sq ft, multi tenanted commercial office building in Bristol. The design brief was to create a modern and welcoming reception space as well as an upgrade to lift core areas with the purposes of attracting new tenants to this centrally located office building. The ceiling design featured 40mm x 150mm MaxiBeams finished in a Warm Oak Supalami, FR Class 0, also incorporating a 12mm Black Acoustic Backing Board to provide further acoustic benefits. Thermal and acoustic insulation secondary glazing was installed by Selectaglaze for the National Trust as part of a full-scale refurbishment at the Grade I Listed Belton House stable block in Grantham, Lincolnshire, which has been converted into restaurant and office space. Selectaglaze Series 10 horizontal sliders were specified for 24 of the original leaded windows in the offices, and meeting rooms. Custom made timber grounds were affixed to all the openings which were splayed or out of shape. As a result of the installation, thermal efficiency has improved considerably, with the added benefit of increased acoustic insulation.

They wanted a full entrance solution with a revolving door at the end of a bridge with a sheltered glass tunnel leading up to a pair of automatic sliding doors and security lanes. As part of the project, we worked closely with the contractor Imtech Inviron Ltd and all the project team, whilst meeting all challenges along the way, we aimed to create the perfect solution without disrupting the space and flow of the foyer whilst entering and exciting the building.Solution: One key item was enabling staff to be able to enter the entrance corridor through a revolving door, providing a sustainable and weathertight area out of the weather, then having a secondary entrance through a pair of automatic sliding doors, therefore providing an improved entrance with high protection against all weather conditions. To comply with Part M of buildings regulations, we provided our unique FAAC Airslide automatic sliding door system, to ensure accessibility for all.Once inside the building, we installed a bank of 3 security lanes, to control the access for authorised users only and preventing unauthorised personnel from entering the building.Revolving door: The RD100, a power-assisted door, elevates functionality for any office entrance with pedestrian traffic. This compact revolving door accommodates various pedestrian flows effortlessly and at their preferred pace. Manually activated, pedestrians push the door to start.
