A huge regeneration project site emerged in Croydon which involved the construction of 514 apartments.The whole project covered approximately 34,000 square meters including ground-floor retail and office space.Soundis supplied a Soundis Cradle & Batten system on all 4 tower blocks which make up the 34,000m2 development. This system was installed directly on the concrete subfloor and was chosen due to its acoustic performance incorporating levelling capabilities.The Soundis Cradle & Batten system helps to improve both airborne and impact performance and is compliant with Robust Detail FFT2.

With the reputation of the illustrious Tottenham football club preceding it, the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is an emblematic building that has already secured its place as a sports stadium to be remembered.It has also become one of the more renowned and iconic spaces to have benefitted from Alumasc WMS expertise, receiving the full ‘rain to drain’ treatment.Comprising five core brands and more besides, Alumasc WMS was brought into the project to provide cohesive, integrated water management throughout the project. This eventually included the installation of Gatic Slotdrain systems, Gatic Access Covers and AssistLift Covers, Harmer SML below ground Cast Iron drainage and Wade floor gulliesto ensure effective water management all round.Completed in 2019, the 62,303-capacity stadium is one of the largest in the Premier League and the largest club stadium in London. The state-of-the-art sports and leisure centre can stage major events including football games, NFL American football games and rugby, as well as concerts and other non-sporting events.Populous Architectural Design were the architects on the project, however, it was Buro Happold Engineering that specified Gatic Drainage and Access Covers, Harmer below ground cast iron drainage and Wade floor gullies from Alumasc WMS for the task.

For this refurbishment project, we installed a new DYNAMIK Sprung Engineered Premium Sport Oak Floor. includes the DYNAMIK bespoke court design by partners Sportserve, who created a basketball home team feel by highlighting the surrounds and court Ds as well as the DYNAMIK and Shire Oak Academy logos. Manhattan Loft Gardens, LondonHaving received the highly regarded RIBA Award for an architectural style which almost defies gravity, Vincent Timber were honoured to supply the beautiful Western Red Cedar that covers the three unique terrace spaces of the Manhattan Loft Gardens. The building was designed to create a community within East London offering 248 rental loft apartments, three rooftop gardens and bars, two restaurants and a beautiful hotel, The Stratford. The building even featured on BBC's The Apprentice with candidates tasked to sell these high-end homes. The stunning gardens are carved out of the building itself with the impressive use of two differing cantilevers. Our timber panelling clads the underside of these overhanging levels whilst helping to bring life to the simply beautiful outdoor space.Spectacular Design Inside & OutDesigned by Skidmore Owings & Merrill for the Manhattan Loft Corporation the spectacular building sits 143m high covering a total of 38,225m². Overlooking the Olympic Park, the building's community helps to keep the vibrancy and creativity of this iconic area alive.With live music and cocktail masterclasses, creative workshops and yoga being just a few of the events here, residents, guests and locals are all invited to enjoy the buzz of the Manhattan Loft Gardens.Thanks to the positioning of the building’s double cantilevers, residents are only ever eight stories from a relaxing open space with unobstructed views across London. The sky gardens on the 25th and 36th floors feature wildflower gardens, BBQ zones and bar areas to dance the night away, all accompanied by plentiful natural timber. Inside, there is even a gym fitted out with the latest TechnoGym equipment.The exterior of the building is focused on nature, featuring wildflowers, water features, cedar pathways and pine trees, while the interior offers a breath-taking contrast. The entrance lobby is pierced by a stunning seven-storey glass atrium and features a beautiful 10m high fireplace. The apartments themselves are equally memorable with a collection of unique single and double-height loft apartments, all with rich oak flooring, bespoke furniture and floor-to-ceiling windows.Why Western CedarWestern Red Cedar was perfect for this project as it offers a wide range of patterns, width, and thickness, creating real flexibility and individuality in design. When properly finished and maintained, cedar will hold its beautiful appearance for decades, complimenting such a high-end build.Despite all efforts at imitation, no man-made product can match the performance qualities of Western Red Cedar. It is often chosen for buildings which require an attractive appearance, superior performance, and resistance to weather conditions. What's more, Western Red Cedar has the least impact on the environment throughout its life cycle. It requires significantly less energy to produce than man-made alternatives and is biodegradable. Our cedar is responsibly and sustainably harvested in the publicly managed forests of British Columbia, Canada. Less than 1% of standing timber is harvested each year and for each tree harvested, three are replanted to ensure our forests continue to exist. This eco-friendly material is the perfect partner for the Manhattan Loft Gardens. As well as being a haven of luxury, the building is kind to the planet. As its major structural elements are exposed there's no need for additional finishes, reducing the volume of material needed for its production, lowering its overall carbon emissions.

After raising funds to refurbish its paediatric entrance and waiting area (for younger children) the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust consulted with its patients and parents to gather their aspirations and provide inspiration for the look and feel of the space. The consensus was the children wanted a theme that reflected a place where happy family memories are made; the Devon coastline. Following this consultation, the Trust enlisted the help of Studio Hanson and Navada Construction to bring the idea to life. Thanks to its naturally bacteriostatic properties, combined with its natural texture and appearance, Forbo Flooring Systems’ Marmoleum collection has helped to turn the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital’s playful beach theme dream into reality for its paediatric entrance and waiting area.

Summer 2019 saw The Solid Wood Flooring Company work with Base Interior and other key suppliers to complete a refurbishment inspired by Scandi design in the affluent district of Kensington, London. Fitzhardinge House offers a crisp, clean and modern aesthetic, achieved by using our Light Brushed Fumed Raw Timber UV Cured Finish Flooring Suitable for underfloor heating, this 15mm thick flooring opened up the space to create a spacious area that would stand the test of time. This project demonstrated what can be achieved when trades and suppliers combine, creating a space that looks as impressive as it functions.

Designed by Grafton Architects, Town House is a mixed-use teaching facility at Kingston University. The interior is arranged around a series of interlocking, open plan spaces, where Junckers’ solid hardwood flooring features as part of limited materials palette. Junckers’ 140mm Textured Nordic Oak Classic flooring clads the treads and risers of the imposing staircase in the triple height courtyard, as well as providing a hard-wearing floor surface for seating areas. Junckers’ oak flooring promotes a healthy indoor climate. All-natural, solid hardwood is free of chemical substances which adversely affect indoor air quality. Junckers has completed EPDs for all its floors to aid specification for sustainable and net zero carbon projects. 

he University of South Wales (USW) has recently installed 900 m2 of Taraflex® Area Elastic (AE) System vinyl sports flooring in ‘Maple’ from international flooring specialist Gerflor. This high-quality installation was for a replacement floor in the USW Fitzone at their Treforest campus.“USW were looking to replace their existing timber sports floor due to damages caused by flooding. As they had an installation at USW Nantgarw Sport Park One of our Taraflex Combisport system they wanted costings to install a similar system at the Treforest site.” Tony Thorne added, “We specified 900m2 of our world class Taraflex AE System, as there was existing equipment which included bleachers and doors. As part of the rigorous specification process, we had to meet the same height as the existing flooring. At Gerflor we have timber sports floors within our portfolio, however following conversations with various stakeholders on the project and due to factors, such as non-sport use and high life cycle costs due to the repeated maintenance needed for timber, we specified Taraflex as the floor finish.”Richard Lewis, Capital Projects Manager at USW said,” We decided to replace the existing sports surface due to a previous roof leak that damaged the floor. The Taraflex sports flooring has only recently been installed, but it is already exceeding our high expectations.”The installation of the Taraflex® sports system would be the responsibility of Swansea-based Artisan Flooring who have installed Gerflor products on previous projects.Lewis Williams, Contracts Manager, Artisan Flooring said, “We would choose Gerflor’s Taraflex again as it’s always been a reliable brand, especially when it comes to sports flooring. The well known traditional British cheese producer, Long Clawson Dairy, required dairy flooring renovation at their Melton Mowbray site. The refurbishment areas included a number of production areas, including the Cheese Room floor. The client needed a hardwearing, slip-resistant, hygienic flooring to cover areas of approximately 200m².Having previously worked with The National Flooring Company on other projects, the client contacted the Degafloor Approved Installer to ask for advice on the best solution for the upcoming works. As the factory is in constant production, attention to detail was required regarding dust and fumes.Drainage was another consideration for the dairy flooring. The drainage was required to be fully operational after the installation, so for best results the contractors recommended using the Degafloor Quartz Trowelled with Aggregate resin flooring. QTA is a trowel-applied system with a quartz scatter finish that will not run into the drains upon application.Long Clawson Dairy needed a flooring solution that could be installed quickly and deliver long-term performance. Degafloor resin systems are based on ultra fast curing methyl methacrylate technology that enables rapid installation and cures as fast as two hours after application.The dairy flooring project was completed in just 6 days over 2 separate shifts. The fast curing properties of Degafloor MMA resin flooring enabled production to commence just 2 hours after the new floors and coving were installed. The Operations Director of Long Clawson Dairy was extremely happy with the end result.

Bloomberg’s European Headquarters opened with excitement in October 2017. The marquee building in the heart of London provides new office space for Bloomberg’s 4000 London based employees. We installed over 37,000m2 of Kingspan raised access flooring and 34,000m2 of Kingspan Attiro real wood engineered floor. The combined systems allow quick and easy access to the steel encapsulated floor panels and the underfloor void whilst delivering 98.5% score against the BREEAM sustainability assessment method.

Junckers solid oak Herringbone flooring has been installed at the National Gallery of Ireland as part of extensive refurbishment works. Architects Henegan Peng’s brief to provide a more accessible route through the collections has resulted in an elegant and historically sensitive upgrade for the Gallery. The solid wood parquet floor in the Dargan and Milltown Wings was installed by DJ Kelly & Co Ltd. The new floor in the Milltown Wing replaced an original timber floor and in the Dargan Wing, Junckers created a bespoke wood block to replicate the pattern of the original tiled floor. Herringbone parquet floors, historically found in country estates, castles and mansion houses, have become one of Junckers’ most popular floors. The elegant aesthetic of the geometric pattern coupled with the naturally occurring structural grain pattern found in solid oak has made parquet the flooring of choice for anything from public buildings and offices to homes and apartments. A solid oak floor by Junckers is very durable and can be sanded and refinished several times, ensuring the floor will last a lifetime. 

Sustainability was a key consideration when British Sugar decided to create a new headquarters to replace its old, tired office.Once the designs were finalised, our floor fitting teams installed RMG600 raised access flooring across the ground floor, first floor and top floor of the building, totalling an area of 4,800m2, utilising our PSA MOB PF2 PS/SPU Medium Grade RMG600 panels.Around the central atrium, we fitted our innovative Attiro architectural finish over the steel-encapsulated RMG600 access flooring system. Attiro is an innovative overlay engineered timber flooring solution that is designed to enable quick and easy access to a raised flooring void at any point in that floor.

60 London Wall is an icon mixed use office & retail building in the dynamic heart of London’s City, with 328,500 sq ft of grade A office accommodation situated over ten stunning floors. It was recently completely renovated and Alliance Bernstein now occupy space within the building. The existing raised access floor was overlaid with Knauf GifaFloor FHB18 making it the ideal substrate to receive a combination of ceramic tiles & micro-screed cement

Architects Gradolí & Sanz designed Imagine Montessori School in Paterna, Valencia with a brief to minimise energy use throughout the lifespan of the building. As a result, the school is the first in Spain to achieve both BREEAM Excellent and GREEN 4 Leaves. Set within a pine forest, accessed through wooden walkways, the school forms a connection with nature at every level. In classrooms where learning zones are accessed freely by the children, the use of timber on both walls and floors sustain the relationship with nature and acts as a peaceful, unifying backdrop. Junckers’ Oak Variation two-strip flooring was matched by wood panelling in pine. The building makes use of building materials with the lowest ecological footprint. The design and carefully selected materials have enabled an energy saving of 70% being achieved compared to similar buildings. Wood, a material with a low carbon footprint, is used in the structure of the building, in the roof panel as well as in interior and exterior enclosures. All Junckers solid wood floors are FSC® and PEFC™ certified and we have recently completed EPDs for all our floors, providing data in relation to the environmental impact of the manufacture of our flooring.

Few people realise that it is possible to clad old stairs with our engineered herringbone parquet floors. It is a specialist skill and you should only employ trusted professionals who have the specialist equipment. The parquet blocks used here are unfinished so that you get perfect square edges. They are then oiled after all other works are completed so that you get your perfect floor. There is no separate stair nose piece as the top layer of solid Oak is a good 4mm thick and this allows the fitters to create an accurate mitre join.

Kingspan RMG600 Raised Access Floor panels are being utilised across multiple state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities including specialist laboratory spaces.The flooring solution provides the facility management team with a great deal of flexibility – rapid access to the void, enabling reconfiguration, fault-finding or simply maintaining the many metres of cables and pipework that are required to service such a leading-edge education building.

Hatfield Place, a luxury country house wedding venue, chose Junckers solid wood flooring fitted with Leveldek underfloor heating system for its newly developed building. The new foyer, ceremony hall and wedding breakfast room overlook the original walled garden, with views of the beautiful parkland to the rear. The redeveloped building is bright and airy with large feature windows and high ceilings. In the foyer, a spacious room with seating for up to 300 guests, Junckers 22mm Oak Variation flooring provides a warm and lively backdrop, adding character with its subtle colour variations and natural grain patterns. In contrast, the ceremony hall and wedding breakfast room were fitted with Junckers’ Oak Harmony plank flooring, a wide board floorboard which gives a more uniform impression required for the formal spaces. Project DescriptionThe capital of Austria, Vienna, is home to one of the country's most powerful structures: The parliament building from the 19th century comprises the seat of the two chambers of parliament, the National Council as well as the Federal Council of the Republic of Austria.As part of the general renovation of the historic building complex on Vienna's Ringstrasse, Lindner GmbH was involved in the construction project with numerous products and services. In addition to the repair of damage to the building fabric, the main objective was the general modernization of the property within the framework of the preservation of historical monuments. The combination of Lindner's modern hollow floor system FLOOR and more® and the historic overlay therefore met all the requirements. A large expanse of Junckers’ solid hardwood flooring has been installed in the Paul Hamlyn Hall at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. The light-filled space is the ideal partner for the dark grey Spicy Pepper Oak floor, adding an elegant backdrop to the smart interior. The magnificent glass and iron structure was originally built as a flower market and now houses a restaurant and champagne bar, where events and performances also take place. A busy public area requires a hard-wearing floor which is able to withstand heavy usage. The choice fell on Junckers, whose floors are reliably durable and easy to maintain, ideal for high traffic areas. The naturally occurring structural grain patterns in oak bring a sense of warmth to the large and open hall, complementing the many original architectural features. The flooring contractors were Junckers’ Approved Contractor PICA Floorings Ltd. 

The Spirit of Sittingbourne is a town within itself, offering town centre shopping, city living, hotel and a cinema complex.Within the Travelodge on this town centre development Soundis provided Soundis Acoustic Battens overlaid with an 18mm OSB and mineral wool insulation between the battens. This specification is a perfect combination of providing great impact and airborne acoustic performance due to the resilient layer pre-bonded to the battens along with the void created by the battens and the added mass within the build up from the mineral wool insulation.Acoustic solutions for both airborne and impact noises...The cinema specification on this project was a lot more specialised as are all solutions to the required acoustic flooring within cinemas. The system used on this project was the Soundis CineSystem – Ultra (Concrete/Structural Screed), one of two CineSystems which Soundis offer for anti vibration flooring requirements. This system is the natural choice of a floated build-up when there are no constraints in regard to weight, distribution etc. due the additional mass that this system provides and offers the greatest acoustic benefit.

New Purpose Built Premises For Acticare. This new build site offers Acticare facilities three times larger than they enjoyed before. 2596m2 of offices, workshops, product display and ancillary areas in the Hereford Enterprise Zone. Bathgate Flooring were pleased to be a part of this project. The Project – Raised Access Hereford Raised Access Flooring for this Hereford project included supply and install of 687m² of Flooring. This building features Raised Access Flooring Panels supplied and installed by Bathgate Flooring Ltd Contracts Division. These panels are manufactured in our own facility in Hereford under the brand of Permaflor.

We are able to manufacture engineered wood stair units to match our flooring with the same colour and finish.The stair units include the tread and riser and can be made to exact sizes if we have detailed drawings. This means installation costs will be less. These stair cladding units can be fully bonded to old stairs, concrete stairs or Steel stair structures.The cost of these stair units are considerably more than our standard stair nosings and a deposit will be required before production because they will be to your specification. Lead times are around 12 weeks.

A key component of any modern office space is the flooring system, which can have a significant impact on both the aesthetics and functionality of the environment.In order to ensure that the flooring system for The Mills Fabrica was both visually appealing and practical, AFD collaborated closely with our contracting partners. We were able to provide the expertise needed to specify the correct finish design that would be appropriate for the space, taking into account factors such as traffic flow, durability, and maintenance requirements.The chosen flooring system was a Terrazzo raised access system, which was installed alongside matching floor tiles in other areas, as well as wall tiles. The Terrazzo Raised Floor system material is renowned for its durability, low maintenance requirements, and stunning visual appeal.The raised access system offers several advantages over traditional flooring systems. It allows for easy access to the void beneath the flooring, which is particularly useful for buildings that require extensive cabling or piping. It also provides greater flexibility for future modifications to the space, such as the installation of new electrical or data systems.By choosing a Terrazzo raised access system for The Mills Fabrica, we were able to achieve a high-end design finish that seamlessly flows from one area to the next, while still providing the practicality and functionality that is essential for a modern office space. The result is a flooring system that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also enhances the overall functionality of the environment.

The work environment at the laundry is busy and given the nature of the work, laundry needs to be moved back and forth throughout the premises multiple times throughout the day. The company required a really durable goods lift to quickly enable staff to move laundry in trolleys between the ground level and second floor within the premises throughout the working day. This was to be an essential work tool in their production cycle.After a no-obligation site visit to the laundry in Kent, the Penny Hydraulics goods lift surveyor specified a 500kg maximum working load mezzanine floor lift as the best goods lift to suit their needs.
