Remarkables Skifield Base

Located along a winding mountain road in Queenstown, New Zealand, the Kingspan panels installed on this project have provided state of the art facilities for skiers at The Remarkables skifield base. The new addition to the centre is comprised of a three level base building that is home to numerous activities, including gear rental, a snow sport school and a restaurant.Due to the local climate and surroundings, the panels installed needed to be resilient to adverse weather conditions. Trapezoidal Wall panels deliver excellent thermal efficiency, providing the correct level of thermal and structural performance required in this extreme environment.

The new distillery sits along the bank of the River Spey and is capable of producing up to 10 million litres of spirit annually. Formed in the shape of a leaf of barley, this project was inspired by the core ingredients used to make traditional scotch whiskey. The unique shape of the building adds character and is a reflection of the locally sourced ingredients used to make traditional scotch whiskey.

With the business growing at a rapid rate, the firm has expanded its head office to a purpose-built facility which also incorporates a store, café, and an external garden centre.To make the most of its prominent location at the entrance to the new Seaton Hill development, the building was designed to showcase the brand’s iconic identity. The facade of the offices and warehouse are clad primarily in a palette of blacks and greys using Kingspan Dri-Design Flat Cassettes for the office element and QuadCore AWP Wall Panels for the large retail section. This neutral palette provides the perfect backdrop for more colourful facade elements of royal blue and bright orange which ‘pop out’ from the envelope, both literally and visually. These elements include a ribbon style wrapping which recreates a heart-beat reading and symbolises the HQ’s position as the “heartbeat of Derriford”. This dramatic treatment also helps to break-up the massing of the site. Selecting all these materials from a single supplier also help to simply logistics, minimise onsite waste and ensure complete compatibility between the elevations.

The design philosophy for this project was to create a highly-efficient and architecturally-stunning world class winery for Yealands Estate. Inspired by the landscape, the curved roof mirrors the shape of the nearby rolling hills, and the overall building is reminiscent of traditional family run countryside wineries.The building features a highly insulated envelope and is considered one of the most environmentally friendly wineries ever built.

The archive’s single-storey extension was clad in Corten steel Hook-on cassettes on both the walls and the mono-pitch roof. These weathered steel panels naturally oxidise to form a patina veneer, giving the façade a distinctive “rusted” look that shifts from a vibrant orange before settling to a dark red after several years of exposure to the elements.

As residents have a varied degree of mobility, care was taken to ensure a level threshold on all doors to external spaces. To achieve this, whilst keeping the area well insulated, the Kingspan OPTIM-R Balcony & Terrace System was specified.
40 mm Kingspan OPTIM-R Balcony & Terrace System was installed on the terrace below Kingspan Thermaroof TR27 LPC/FM. Kingspan OPTIM-R panels were also installed on the balconies, with matching thicknesses of flex infill strips laid around the edges. A further layer of Kingspan Thermataper TT47 LPC/FM was installed above this, providing a fall to the gutter.

The former Royal Military Academy overlooking Woolwich Common finds a new place in history with its stunning restoration, featuring Kingspan OPTIM-R Flooring System.
The vacuum insulation panel system was chosen to most of the available space. The original beam and block flooring limited the ability to dig down, so installing the Kingspan OPTIM-R Flooring System in a 30mm thickness allowed for the maintenance of the existing threshold levels whilst also achieving excellent thermal performance.

This includes Kingspan Kooltherm K8 Cavity Board, which was used to insulate the majority of the walls throughout the property, and Kingspan Kooltherm K7 Pitched Roof Board, which was were applied to the ground floor overhang.
With thermal conductivities as low as 0.020 W/m.K, the products delivered the required thermal performance with a slim build-up, helping to maximise space within the rooms.

The Kingspan TEK Building System and Kingspan TEK Cladding Panel have been installed as part of the new Seaton Jurassic visitor centre in Devonshire, forming the gateway to the region’s historic Jurassic Coast.
BREEAM ‘Very Good’ was a central requirement on the project, and the Kingspan TEK products delivered the excellent thermal and airtightness performance that was needed in a single operation. As a result, costs were reduced and speed of construction was significantly increased when compared with a traditional stud wall approach.

The National College for High Speed Rail contains a variety of learning spaces inside a visually striking yet simple building shell formed from two intersecting blocks.
The main entrance is defined by a simple yet striking cantilevered upper floor, providing a sheltered space in front of the building. To insulate this, Kingspan Kooltherm K110 Soffit Board was used. The boards were fixed directly to the soffits using thermally broken fasteners, making installation quick and simple.
Kingspan Kooltherm K110 Soffit Board is a premium performance insulation board. It achieves a thermal conductivity of 0.018 W/m·K across all thicknesses.

The size and poorly insulated design of the Avon Fire & Rescue Service's existing building makes it uneconomically expensive to maintain and run.
To address this, the building is being demolished in stages with a new fire station being built on a much smaller footprint.
The energy performance of the building envelope was a key consideration. A target U-value of 0.23 W/m²·K was set for the walls of the building. To help achieve this Kingspan Kooltherm K15 Rainscreen Board was specified.
This has allowed the Service to not only save lives, but also energy and money.

To ensure these new homes both are energy efficient and warm, the project team sought to surpass the Building Regulations. This led to the specification of Kingspan Kooltherm K106 Cavity Board, which boasts a thermal conductivity of just 0.18 W/m.K across all available board thicknesses.
In addition to its outstanding thermal performance, Kingspan Kooltherm K106 Cavity Board also features a water–tight, vapour–open polypropylene fleece outer facing which protects against moisture penetration. As a result, it can be installed with a void of just 10 mm, limiting the thickness of the external walls.

The combined systems allow quick and easy access to the steel encapsulated floor panels and the underfloor void whilst delivering 98.5% score against the BREEAM sustainability assessment method.
