New Clement EB20 steel windows for Arts and Crafts style house

Our client is the owner of this superb 1930s house which is located in a suburb of Manchester. The property is currently being renovated throughout and as the old windows were no longer fit for purpose, the decision was taken to replace them with a product which looked just like the original windows, but offered a much improved specification.The Clement EB20 range of steel windows was chosen, with G+ bars and beautiful fenestra joints. The new windows are dual coloured - a dark bronze was chosen for the outside frames while white was selected for the inside to match the interior.
Metal roof coating and liquid gutter liner

The metal roof was first prepared using high powered jet washing equipment, to remove loose and flaking materials.
Liquasil corrosion primer was applied to the corroded cut edges and the entire roof was sprayed with a single coat of Metalseal 20.
The metal box gutter was heavily corroded.
The loose and flaking material was removed and Liquasil’s Corrosion Primer was applied all along the gutter.
The joints in the gutter were sealed with Liquasil’s unique Non-Sag Sealer and then the entire gutter was coated with Liquasil One to provide a seamless gutter finish.

The walls required an insulation panel that achieved better U-values whilst maintaining traditional cavity widths. Eurowall +, manufactured by Recticel Insulation proved the ideal solution.Nicholas Peck from Mentmore Homes explained:"We wanted to make the properties as energy-efficient as possible. To make this happen, the best place to start is the insulation. Specifying Eurowall + meant we didn’t have to increase the size of the wall cavity and lose space inside the properties. The panel’s interlocking feature was another reason for its specification because it slots together so easily and will remain solid and airtight. The project needed to achieve environmental standards and create a collaborative teaching and learning environment. Komfort’s Polar systems covered a large area of the facility. Polar’s single glazed minimalist form is designed with the minimum of components, thus facilitated speed of erection without compromising structural stability and rigidity. The patented bubble joint ensured a virtually frameless system with no vertical posts between modules, corners or three-way junctions.
Double glazed Polar’s simplistic method of installation, relocatability and powerful acoustic properties made it an intelligent option for this fit-out.
Metsec’s SFS steel framing system has helped to create a seamless finish to the façade of a new state-of-the-art custody centre and strategic policing hub for Devon and Cornwall Constabulary.

A requirement in Corstorphine Wright’s design brief was to avoid horizontal movement joints in the finished façade, which would have been the result had a traditional SFS Infill to concrete frame approach been taken.
Working with Willmott Dixon at the early design stages of the contract, Metsec’s in-house design team proposed a continuous walling solution formed from SFS to support glazing and rendered elements that would form the external skin of the façade.
Metsec’s solution included the use of fixing cleats to connect the SFS continuous walling to the structure’s concrete frame.

Bottle Lane is a private custom build home designed and constructed by Revolution Homes.
The four-bedroom, detached house stands on the site of the client’s old property
which was demolished to make way for a new more acoustically and thermally efficient build. As the client was overseas for the duration of the build, they wanted a company that could offer a full system build package from conceptual design to a finished product.
Specialists in the custom-build market, Revolution Homes was able to supply this by employing the H+H Rå Build method of thin-joint aircrete construction.

Komfort’s double glazed Polar Vision with a 15mm +/- 3-part deflection head and 2-part base was installed. This system was specified due to the line loading over an Atrium.
Polar Vision gives you a minimal, seamless style with confident lines and unrestricted views. The system is dry jointed and constructed without mullion posts, offering up to 30 mins fire protection for both integrity and insulation, and can provide up to 48dB (Rw) sound performance.

Aintree Racecourse is located in Sefton, Merseyside. The racecourse is best known for hosting the Grand National steeplechase.
The grandstand was suffering badly from water ingress to the areas below due to the floor coatings and joint seals which had degraded over years of exposure to the elements.
Koster flooring systems were specified to provide a long-term solution to the exposed areas, providing a decorative, slip-resistant finish suitable for UV exposure and the weather conditions faced in the UK.
The completed area is the perfect spot to enjoy the worlds’ biggest horse race in 2021 and beyond.

The Hub, Hattersley - Leaking Podium Deck

Delta were employed to assist on this leaking podium deck project.
Following a full assessment of The Hub and its underground parking facilities it was identified that rainwater was entering the basement car park through the ceiling deck at multiple points. These points included holes that were formed to allow drainage from the surface, movement joints and investigation holes that had been created through the steel rib and concrete deck.
Based on “as built plans” a system was designed post construction that would offer the same quality of structural protection had it been incorporated during the build phase.

Gatic Civil Drainage was recently specified for Waitrose’s new store in Oxford for its CastSlot system from its market-leading Slotdrain range.
Gatic’s CastSlot is designed to create a continuous interception of surface water, as well as provide a discreet and durable surface opening. Manufactured in three metre lengths of galvanised steel, it benefits from fewer joints and improved flow performance. A high flow inlet and channel capacity meant CastSlot provided a tidy, unobtrusive and functional solution. The cast iron finish gives the system a highly durable and ductile iron top.

Some of the units were 7m x 1.5m wide which Ambar Kelly designed to incorporate horizontal fire protection and drylined fire walls as part of the RiserSafe® system. This allowed for a group of shafts, or openings, to be combined into one unit, which reduced the number of trimmer steels and concrete beams required for walls, thereby reducing crane lifts and construction time. Schlüter-Systems provided a variety of trims and movement joints to ensure a damage-free finish for the tiled walls and floors of high-end residential project, Landmark Place.
The 280,193sq ft Barratt Homes development has an enviable position on the north bank of the River Thames, near the iconic Tower Bridge, and boasts 165 one-bed suites, one, two and three bed apartments and penthouses across 10 storeys. It replaces Sugar Quay, a 1970s office building built for Tate and Lyle, which was purchased by CPC Group back in 2012.
Tottenham Hotspur Football Club

An extensive hard landscape setting for the new Tottenham Hotspur Football Club stadium. The large 11,000 m2 paved area has been constructed in a combination of granite and concrete block paving units. Although the area is mainly pedestrian the brief required that the units be completely and permanently bonded into position. This was achieved using Steintec tuffbond in combination with tuffbed 2-pack Type 35 bedding mortar to achieve a minimum 2MPa adhesion between the paving units and the supporting layers. Steintec tufftop Type 40 jointing mortar was used to complete the installation.
London Power Tunnels - Concrete for Tunnelling

Following a successful first phase in 2018, London Power Tunnels 2 (LPT2) is a project to ‘rewire’ south London. The six-year, £1bn scheme will comprise the construction of 32.5km of 3m-diameter tunnels built deep below the road network between Wimbledon and Crayford to carry high voltage electricity cables.A Hochtief-Murphy Joint Venture (HMJV) was awarded the contract in December 2019 to design and construct the tunnels & shafts and install the EHV (extra-high volume) cable brackets. The New Cross site is one of several in the overall scheme.
Charming cottage style house re-vamped with EB24 steel windows

EB24 cottage pane style steel windows featuring the G+ system with a Fenestra joint were chosen by the client to replicate and replace the original windows in this beautiful 1930s private residence.
The open-sided loggia leads out to the garden - Clement were able to manufacture this screen in the EB24 window system to match all other fenestration.
The new EB24 windows to the feature stairwell window allow lots of light into the centre of the house. The original timber surrounds were in good condition throughout the property and so were retained by Clement to house the new steel windows.
Asbestos Roof Coating & Metal Gutter Lining by Liquasil Ltd

This was a relatively small installation of under 100 sq metres of asbestos roof coating and metal gutter lining.
The asbestos cement roof was first cleaned using a closed box pressure washer, with all waste water being filtered to 2 microns.
The cleaned roof was coated using Liquasil's BBA Approved asbestos roof coating system, Asbestoseal.
The metal gutter was cleaned and thn treated with SWT (Surface and wet tolerant) corrosion primer.
Joints were treated with Non-Sag Sealer and the gutter lined with Liquasil One to provide a seamless lining.
New Troldtekt panels with reduced carbon footprint

The construction company wanted a strong aluminium profile that provides a simple, safe secure edge for steps covered in ceramic tiles.
The flange sits underneath the tile and the top section protects the riser tile and prevents water ingress into the joint gap. The top section provides a perfect step edge with a grooved profile face for extra grip and has a generous 10-12mm deep front face to highlight the step edge from the bottom of the steps.
Contractors decided Genesis NLM123 would fit perfectly and have since ordered 303 linea meters to be installed in Fragatta Tower, Colombia.
Residential - South Shields Million Pound Apartment Development

This is a very exciting time for residents of South Shields as the first of its kind is being constructed - a million pound penthouse apartment spanning the entire top floor of the apartment block.Genesis products have been used throughout this project to create stunning finishes.Every bathroom in the executive apartment block features ESA100.94 to create stylish niches and tile edges. The brushed effect surface beautifully compliments the tiling around many of the baths.MHS100.35 movement joints and TDP100.91 have been used to create subtle transitions between doorways where discretion is key and a traditional transition strip is not requested.
Liquid gutter liner to metal gutter

This metal gutter was leaking in various places and several repairs had been undertaken over many years.
Liquasil’s liquid gutter lining system was specified because the SWT primer actively treats any rust that is present and prevents further rusting.
All joints and fixings are permanently sealed with Non-Sag Sealer.
Non-Sag Sealer is a thixotropic coating with 1400% elasticity that easily copes with thermal movement associated with metal gutters.
The final stage is the apply a single coat of Liquasil One along the entire length of the gutter, to provide a seamless, leak-free finish.
Luxury North London Residence

Delta Membrane Systems Limited was asked to assistance on a particularly technically complicated project.
The project in question was a new build luxury property in North London, providing almost 17,000 sq ft of accommodation, over four floors.
High volumes of hydrostatic water pressure was bearing on the structure, which was causing the property to suffer severe water ingress through construction joints.
The property when constructed was built at a low level, it sits lower than the neighbouring properties adding to the hydrostatic water pressure issue. An additional problem was the property had been built without a waterbar/hydrophilic strip.
ACO New Street

Birmingham’s New Street station is used by more than 170,000 passengers per day. The £750-million transformation of the station took five years to complete and involved the creation of an iconic new atrium for the passenger concourse, improved platforms, new entrances and a range of facilities including the ‘Grand Central’ shopping area. ACO Building Drainage designed a bespoke radial channel solution with 6mm uniformed joints which matched the channel covers provided by ACO. The team also designed an outlet for the channels, enabling them to deal with the deep slab design and technical practicalities of the site.
LEEDS TRAIN STATION, YORKSHIRE

Dural worked in conjunction with Northern Star flooring to renovate a section of floor within the new south entrance concourse. Northern Star Flooring is an experienced resin floor contractor based in the North of England. The first phase began in 2018 and the project involved the redevelopment and modernisation of the main southern concourse. The plans also included a new roof and stunning glazed façade in addition to more floor space. The flooring specified will be used by the station’s 100,000 daily users. Dural has been integral in offering technical advice on how to install their coloured movement joints for this huge expanse of floor.

No.1 Forbury Place in Reading, UK, is the largest butt-jointed fire-rated glazing construction in Europe and features Vetrotech's oversize fire-resistant glass, Contraflam Mega.
The project comprises more than 1,400 m2 of Vetrotech’s EI30 fire resistant glazing solution: Contraflam. On the ground floor of the 8-story atrium Contraflam Mega single panes are installed with heights of 4.5 m and weights up to almost 0.5 t. The 4-sided vitreous atrium from the first to the seventh floor has been fully equipped with Vetrotech’s Contraflam Structure flush glazing solution.

Sherwn-Williams demonstrated what technical assistance can be provided on projects before any quotations or specifications are organised. A low viscosity primer Resutop Binder was recommended as a penetrating primer to case harden and consolidate the screed. Epoxy screed repairs were installed where required to make good any damaged areas. Once a sound substrate was established Resuprime MVT moisture tolerant primer was installed incorporating a fabric mesh over all joints and pitted areas to reduce any potential cracking of this substrate, followed by 9mm thick FasTop RS69 polyurtehane screed.

The new store at Coventry was built using environmentally sustainable building materials. As the first city centre store, it also provides contained parking for 800 cars.

Terra-34 grating was chosen with a 34x100mm aperture to comply with anti-climb guidelines. Panels were custom-sized to continue the aesthetic of the surrounding cladding material and mounted to conform with the horizontal and vertical joints. Over 200m² of screening was supplied in a hot-dip galvanized finish incorporating two emergency exits.

Franke provided two solid surface washtroughs for the refurbishment. Cast in a single mould without any seams or joints Franke's solid surface composite washtroughs have been designed to cope with the harshest conditions. The smooth, pore-free and high gloss gelcoat surface also makes it hygienic and easy to clean.

The £83m development at ICCW, Celtic Manor Resort, South Wales, a joint venture between the Welsh Government and the Celtic Manor Resort, will provide 26,000sqm of total floor space for meetings, conferences and exhibitions.
The Genesis NSL01 with Ice Grey inserts have been used in conjunction with the blue safety flooring.
NHD05 with Ice Grey inserts have been used throughout all main and side stairwells along with NSA stair edges to complete the look.
The NLT aluminium tile-in step edge profiles have been used throughout the building to add protection to step edges and provide a classic look.

he Great Blakenham incinerator plant is a joint initiative between Suffolk County Council and waste management company SITA UK. This energy-from-waste facility uses the household and business waste left after recycling, burning materials which would otherwise go to landfill, and generates enough electricity to power 30,000 homes.
Although operations carried out at the plant are largely industrial, the appearance of the building itself including the suspended, glass fronted office section required hard landscaping to increase overall aesthetics, as well as providing a SuDS solution to ensure safe and practical surface water removal in the car parking areas...
Promat SYSTEMGLAS® Ferro provides assured fire protection for Dublin Landings

Assured passive fire protection for a spectacular central atrium in Dublin city centre’s largest and most prestigious new commercial development has been provided by over 300m2 of Promat SYSTEMGLAS® Ferro.
The system was selected thanks to its 360 degree ‘wheel of assurance’, which ensures all the fire resistant glazing screens are checked for compliance at every stage from design and specification, through manufacture and installation.
The proven butt-jointed, steel framed fire resistant glazing system has been used to create all the glass screens which encapsulate the atrium at the heart of No. 1 Dublin Landings.
Cliffs Pavilion - F. Ball puts on a show-stopping performance at Southend-on-Sea theatre

Floor preparation products from F. Ball have been used in the refurbishment of Cliffs Pavilion, a theatre located in Southend-on-Sea.
Firstly, the joisting was repaired and reinforced where necessary. Following this, a 25mm plywood subfloor was installed and primed using Stopgap P131, a primer designed to promote adhesion to smoothing underlayments and prevent uncontrolled rapid drying.
Stopgap 500 Micro floor finishing compound was then used to fill the plywood joints and the subfloor was prepared with Stopgap 700 Superflex to create a flat, smooth surface free from undulations. Once dried, Karndean Van Gogh wood floorcoverings were installed.

Several Effisus solutions were used in this project: Effisus Ecofacade, to ensure water and air tightness of all facade elements connections, the waterproofing adhesive Effisus Bonding KF, the facade joint sealing solution for rainwater with pressures up to 600Pa Effisus Sealexpand XTRA 600 and also the multifunction double-sided butyl-based sealing tape Effisus 2Bond GO.
