Perfectly blending into its surroundings, the entrance matting at 22 Bishopsgate helps create a blank canvas to showcase the contemporary artwork adorning the foyer. At the main entrances, INTRAflex XT is used in the primary matting area, while a combination of INTRAflex XT and INTRAflex Radial are used within the revolving doors. The mats all feature INTRAlux Linear fibre inserts in Grey 451 to match tonally with the floor. Together, the ribs of the fibre and mix of matting systems provide a subtle textural contrast to the hard surfaces.

Intu derby is a large shopping centre located in the heart of Derby. Home to over 200 stores, shoppers are sure to find what they are looking for. The centre plays an important role in adding to the vibrancy of Derby city centre and the region, creating a busy hub for its community and tourist industry. Keeping all these shoppers safe is of paramount importance for the centre’s management. As a result, they chose to install the INTRAform DM Heavy Duty Entrance Matting to protect the internal flooring and ensure a clean and safe environment.

Maida Vale Studios is a complex of seven BBC sound studios of which five are in regular use. Since its launch in 1934, the studio has been used to record thousands of classical music, and dramas for popular radio channels such as BBC Radio 1/2/3 etc. It has also been the home to BBC Symphony Orchestra. Installing recessed Matting at the Entrance of the BBC Studios a great way to sustain the life of the flooring beyond therefore improving the aesthetics of the interior and enhancing the building.

As with all balcony constructions, the issue of cold-bridging (also known as thermal-bridging) must be addressed and minimised to meet the required building standards - Part L of the Building regulations being of particular relevance. The H-BAU ISOPRO® thermal insulation element from J&P solved this problem by providing structural connection between the internal concrete floor slab, and the external concrete (insitu, or precast) balcony, whilst creating a thermal break to minimise cold-bridging.

New development Colindale offices is recently home to London Borough of Barnet staff and community facilities. Furnitubes has supplied 6 table and bench sets and a further 7 independent benches from the RailRoad Inline range, with ‘Delta’ supports that can be readily bolted down to the decking of the new roof terrace located on the 4th floor. Eleven RailRoad planters have been placed in the gravel margins to perfectly compliment the nearby seating, and planted with contemporary box topiary balls.

Underneath the curved, zinc roof, the 3 homes have been designed to maximize light and space. Designed to bring serenity in the bustle of the city, each floor connects to the outside with large windows and terraces. Percy Lane features Reynaers CF 77 and CP 155(-LS) sliding and folding door systems, and CS 77 aluminium window systems.

Soundsure 560 was laid over concrete blocks (1350 kg/m3 from Lynx Precast), installed as an acoustic resilient layer below insulation, underfloor heating pipework and 75mm sand / cement screed. Installed in first floor areas of all 8 houses. Soundsure 560 was overlaid with 30mm insulation, a waterproof membrane, and underfloor heating pipes clipped into place. A 75mm sand / cement screed was then laid above. A.J Wells manufactured and installed over 600 square metres of vitreous enamel cladding panels for the fourth floor of world renowned department store Harrods.The Knightsbridge store unveiled the new section in November 2013 as part of a £200m makeover. In a radical overhaul the Way In fashion section was converted into a 30,000 square foot “Fashion Lab” with cast concrete floors, crackle-glazed wall panels, steel columns and a metal grid ceiling system. The department houses an array of contemporary brands aimed at the younger market.Working with Found Associates, A.J Wells designed and manufactured the wall panels and the framing system. Vitreous enamel was specified for its durability, low maintenance and luxurious surface finish. A unique satin enamel finish was used with a subtle crackle glaze effect. The panels wrapped the walls of the store and formed counters and cash desk bulkheads. Precision micro, a UK based manufacturer of precision metal components for the automotive, aerospace and pharmaceutical industries were investing in a refurbishment of their photochemical etching facilities. The state of the art facility required a highly chemically resistant easy to clean floor finish. Various existing substrates needed to be pulled together to create one seamless finish with an integrated cove. Due to the chemicals utilised in the area, there is a risk of airborne corrosives attacking the metal ceilings, so an acid resistant protective coating was also required overhead.After extensive trials and chemical exposure testing, Remmers resin systems were selected for the works. For the ceiling, Epoxy BS3000 SG provided chemical protection to the galvanised steel surface and exhibited excellent adhesive properties after the steel was prepared using an ice blasting process. The floors were a mixture of existing resin finishes, new concrete and Polypropylene drain covers. A selection of priming solutions for the different areas were utilised including, Epoxy ST100, Epoxy MT100 and Epoxy BS3000 SG. Then topped with Epoxy Flex PH laid at 2mm and sealed with PUR Top M+. THE PROJECTThe Torre Koi in Mexico is the second tallest building in Mexico standing at a huge 917 ft. The tower is in San Pedro Garza Garcia, part of the Monterrey Metropolitan area. The building acts as the centrepiece of four buildings. When the project finished it was the tallest building in Mexico, but the Torres Obispado surpassed the Koi in 2020.VFO Architectos, based in Mexico City, designed, and oversaw the architecture for The Torre Koi. With a mixture of office and residential the skyscraper features 63 floors, 218 apartments, 18 penthouses and 26 floors of commercial office space.THE SOLUTIONThe Safety Letterbox Company was approached by ‘Interni Design Studio’, the interior designers, in charge of the materials for the social areas in the tower. Their requirements were for mailboxes for the residents, with the added requirements of security, efficiency and to be aesthetically pleasing.Quantity requirements and available dimensions were provided to The Safety Letterbox Company, along with design ideas to enable an appropriate product to be specified. The product matched the brief and ticked all the boxes Interni needed on both the practical and creative side of the project.The tower features multiple banks of MODA H 300 mailboxes, fitted to a jet-black support table so they sit freestanding within the mailroom. With a stainless-steel front and a jet-black body these stylish, sophisticated mailboxes really deliver in this incredible skyscraper!

Albion Way, Brent is a stunning new 15-floor accommodation building for 245 students on behalf of Watkin Jones. Dorplan supplied a total of 484 doors with ironmongery using our exclusive ‘Expa-fit’ system which reduces fitting time by around 30% per door.Most of the doors, in a beautiful crown-cut oak veneer, were bedroom entrance doors. These needed to be specially recessed to accommodate access control locks, for which Dorplan worked alongside access control company TLJ. Also part of the project were fire compartment corridor doors and doors for the ground-floor communal area. All doors were matched to meet the design brief and were delivered in phases over 6 months.This project is the latest in a series of buildings Dorplan has supplied for Watkin Jones and we are looking forward to our next project with them, a new student accommodation building in Wilder Street, Bristol.Watkin Jones project manager, Elliott Robinson, said: “Rob and the team at Dorplan have been great to deal with from start to finish. Ilona Rose House with its unusual rose-coloured 3D printed façade is a new-build, mixed-use project spread over 13 floors, including a 4 storey, basement with a quarter natural light. It has transformed the former site of the famous Foyles bookshop on Charing Cross Road, boasting outstanding new shops and restaurants, along with new pedestrian walkways, public realm and roof terraces.The unique building has been designed by MATT Architecture for main contractors Sir Robert McAlpine and offers 150,000 sq ft of office space, 20,000 sq ft of retail fronting on Charing Cross Road and a brand-new public courtyard with 15,000 sq ft of restaurant and bar space.The upper floors comprising of offices exploit the stepped massing of the building to create over 12,000 sq ft of planted external terraces for the benefit of the occupiers and to enhance the environment.The south-west facing terraces, nicknamed ‘the hanging gardens of Soho’ will provide external amenity space for every single level of office. It is here that Radmat’s waterproofing and insulation products were chosen for their tried and trusted properties. PermaQuik Hot Melt Bitumen Waterproofing System was used on 95% of the roof areas, multiple roof terraces, Greek Street Tunnel and James’ Courtyard.

Dynamic interior spaces created for flagship care homeIssue Quantum Care were launching their flagship care home, Mantles Court, and wanted an interior design that created a warm, welcoming and comfortable space. Quantum Care asked WHAT IF? Designs to create the interior spaces with a non-clinical feel, making the state of the art, 78-bed care facility feel like a home-from-home for residents. Approach WHAT IF? Designs looked at the flow of resident living spaces and the needs for each area. Communal spaces including lounges, dining and kitchen areas required floors that were easy to clean, looked fantastic and provided safety from slips. For the ensuite bathrooms, a softer, neutral coloured floor with slip resistance for both staff and residents was needed, while bedrooms called for a more homely, domestic feel, with comfort under foot as a priority. Solution Altro Wood was chosen for the dining room, bedrooms and the hair salon for its natural, homely, good looks. Altro Aquarius and Altro Pisces, with their wide colour palette and lifetime sustained slip resistance, were selected for the ensuite bathrooms, providing safety for shoe and barefoot users. And in the communal areas, Altro Ensemble was chosen for its flexibility and design choices as well as its noise reduction and comfort underfoot.

Situated at the heart of London’s Canary Wharf, the two towers that make up the Landmark development comprise 804 prestige apartments and penthouses on 45 and 30 floors respectively, together with two lower-level buildings that are situated around a central courtyard.Developed by CPL and designed by architects Squire and Partners, the apartments and penthouses are finished to the highest quality specification, offering residents stunning views across London and Canary Wharf.The ground floor areas to all four blocks were completed in 2013 with Smart Architectural Aluminium’s MC Wall curtain walling system installed by one of the company’s specialist partners. With over 1,600 square metres of curtain walling installed, together with Smart Wall commercial entrance doors, the system perfectly completes the development which contains café areas as well as a Tesco convenience store.Completed for the Landmark scheme in a polyester powder coated grey finish, the slim profiles of the Smart MC Wall curtain walling system allow maximum light into both single and multi-storey buildings, with a special feature transom cap with concealed mullions for uninterrupted ‘glass to glass’ joints. The versatile, polyamide thermal break system, may also incorporate a top hung frameless vent and can accommodates any of the company’s windows and doors.

Winner of the MIPM 2010 award for Hotels and Tourism, which is presented for outstanding real state projects worldwide, the Kameha Grand was designed by architect Karl-Heinz Schommer Bonner. The unique elliptical section design did however make serious demands on the requirement for protection against thermal bridging. The architect discussed the issue with Schöck, the European specialists in thermal bridging solutions and it was agreed that a combination of three product variants would meet the requirement.The outer concrete arches on the roof and facade of the building cantilever 1.30 m on each side and this, combined with the subtle design of the facade, meant that it was not possible to use a standard thermal break solution. To minimise any thermal bridging problems along the two outer arcs an inventive solution had to be found by the Schöck design team. This was achieved by dividing the projecting element of the framework into a number of sections and using the appropriate Isokorb® T for the required forces. At the ground floor Isokorb® T type Q is used, with T type D being installed higher up the structure, followed by T type K on the top floor. Because of the arch profile, the Isokorb® T type D was cut and installed at 90 degrees and run under the curved edge of the roof emergency exits, providing F90 fire protection.

To ensure safety in wet areas, matte tiles with an anti-slip R10 rating were chosen for the floor surfaces. This deliberate contrast between the luxurious polished marble-effect wall tiles and the tactile elegance of the matte floor surfaces creates a uniquely modern design aesthetic.A captivating feature wall, adorned with Atlas Concorde Cold White Chevron decorative tiles, serves as the centerpiece of the shower area. This mesmerizing wall is visible from the kitchen area through a small doorway, inviting the imagination to explore its depths. Crafted with monochromatic finesse, it adds remarkable depth to the entire project. Two recessed bathroom shelves, adorned with Carrara Pure porcelain tiles, offer a stylish space for beauty products.The single Dialogo Calacatta Delicato Silk Finish basin, also from Atlas Concorde, embodies understated sophistication, seamlessly blending Carrara Pure porcelain with a modern design. Split over basement, ground and three upper floors, the Charles Doll Building on Grape Street, London, offers a contemporary and functional specification in this stunning office refurbishment. The development mixes industrial elements with a crisp modern aesthetic by carefully combining characterful architectural features, including vaulted ceilings with exposed brick and steelwork.Named after its architect Charles Fitzroy Doll, the building is clad in decorative thé-au-lait (“tea with milk”) terracotta – Doll's use of grand façades is understood to have resulted in the expression, ‘all dolled up’. The first floor has been fitted out to a high standard with office furniture from Vitra, providing the perfect space for those who want to move in and get straight to work.The lobby mixes vibrate contemporary wall art with industrial light fittings and brickwork. Forza’s in-house CAD team planned the bespoke black oak Firescreen partition wall to match the architect's design. As a market leading passive fire product, this Firescreen provides both integrity from Smoke and Fire and insulation from heat. This is important because in a fire emergency heat has been shown to ignite secondary fires to items, such as curtains or carpets, that are near the other side of non-insulated partitions.Via the Thinking Space Design & Build, Forza Doors supplied twenty FD30 Fire Doors with stained frames and skirting boards to match throughout the five floors of The Charles Doll Building. Chosen to match the steelwork throughout the development, the dark satin finish of the doors was selected from Forza’s Creato range of dyed veneers. This ‘Illunis’ finish is one of twelve fashionable choices in the range. Dyed veneers are an increasingly popular choice with designers as they offer cost savings over stained veneers without compromising quality.The Doors with glass vision panels, required to allow light through to the stairwells, feature our flush and quirk bead. A minimalist design option where one side of the doors is completely flush right up to the glass vision panel and the other side has a very simple elegant bead detailing.

Spread across 6 floors, the stunning construction features an independent learning area, a café, library, break-out spaces and quiet study areas. The building also includes an audio-visual suite, recording studio, classrooms and Sixth Form Seminar rooms. It creates a dynamic environment; extolling campus life within the secure and nurturing confines of school.Streetspace Urban Structures became involved in the project when a single-source canopy solution was sought for the top floor roof deck. The striking canopy featured a symmetric central ‘spine’ design with in-line support columns and finished with a perimeter cable edge. The canopy’s signal white steelwork complemented the champagne finish of the PVC membrane fabric. The installation used two existing steel support plates and the speedy construction involved components being craned up to the 6th floor.With its translucency, colour, clearspan and softness of form, the ORION Shield Tensile Membrane Canopy, proved to be the perfect solution, with the gentle curve of the shield design providing both an attractive aesthetic and a unique ambience to an outstanding build that provided a stunning finish to a prestigious project.

THE PROJECT: Recticel supplied the high-performance thermal solution to transform a 100-year-old property in Moseley, Birmingham. Divided into nine apartments, in which two were refurbished to create one, two-storey home, the project caught the attention of the producers of Channel Four's Old House to New Home. Connecting a ground floor property to a flat above led to the creation of a modern and stylish home trimmed with decorative reminders of its structural origins.THE SOLUTION: Eurothane® GP, a high-performance rigid PIR foam board, was selected for the new home's pitched roof, framed wall and floor. Eurothane PL, Recticel's insulation and plasterboard solution was fitted to the property's existing, cavity-less, nine-inch exterior brick walls. The well-sized board ensures minimal thermal bridging during construction.Coupled with Eurothane® GP's 0.022W/mK low thermal conductivity, these products were crucial to attaining a good U-value rating. In total, 130m2 of Eurothane® GP and Eurothane® PL panels were installed.The homeowner, Paul explained:"As we were carrying-out most of the building work ourselves we wanted the best possible insulation for the project. Research revealed Recticel's solutions fitted the bill. Excellent thermal performance and simple to-fit, they were a far superior alternative to other insulants we considered. The panels have done so much to create a welcoming and comfortable interior environment."Used products:Eurothane® GP:Eurothane® GP is a high performance PIR insulation board that is light weight, easy to cut, handle and install. Whether it’s a pitched roof, framed wall or floor, Eurothane® GP is the ideal solution amongst contractors and installers.Eurothane® PL:Suitable for mechanical fixing or dot and dab fixing, this insulated board is consistently sized with extremely tight tolerances, ensuring thermal bridging is minimised. Factory bonded, the plasterboard provides optimum board dimensions and optimum adhesion between layers.

Designers and specialist flooring contractors were tasked with specifying a system for this facility to provide a long term decorative flooring solution. Challenges on the project included the existing substrate requiring to be levelled as it was out of specification and no longer suitable for the intended pharmaceutical production processes. It was recommended that initially a pumped industrial sub base be applied prior to the surface finishes. A protein free flowable cementitous compound was used to level existing concrete substrates or make up to required levels and create a suitable profile. Typically laid from 7 - 50mm in one application, this provides a fast and economic way of refurbishing and levelling substrates.Once the surface had be regulated using the sub screed the surface was mechanically prepared by diamond grinding to provide a mechanical key, the surface was then primed using Resuprime MVT, which is a moisture tolerant liquid damp proof membrane.After priming the substrate with Resuprime MVT the main screed product Resuflor Q Screed was applied by a steel float and trowel at 5mm. Coloured quartz granules which are bound in a clear epoxy resin provide an aesthetically pleasing and decorative finish whilst providing high levels or durability and impact resistance.Hygienic coving was also required for this project. One of the benefits of Resuflor Q Screed is that it can be applied to form in situ coving detail which is seamless from floor to wall. This would enable the areas to be sterilised and easy to clean and ensure the high levels of cleanliness and hygiene required in this type of facility can be achieved.Once the Resuflor Q Screed is installed the surface is then grouted using Resuprime GC clear resin sealer. Finally a coat of Resupen WB Matt Clear was applied to give a contemporary matt finish. Resupen WB Matt also enhances the level of scratch and abrasion resistance to ensure that the system keeps attractive for longer.Resuflor Q Screed was applied to the main production areas, testing and laboratory facility and all the connecting corridor areas.The result was a hygienic and decorative surface installed with superb detail, enhancing the performance and aesthetics of this facility.

Having previously divided the 1st floor conference facility when etc.venues initially moved into 155 Bishopsgate, London, Style was asked to add further space flexibility when the company recently expanded into the sizeable 2nd floor area.Working with Synergy Architects, and contractor, KPS Partnership Style recommended installing a single, 21 metre long Dorma Huppe Variflex moveable wall down the length of the main conference space. A further five Variflex walls were then installed evenly spaced throughout the room, allowing individual meeting rooms to be created as demand dictates.Maintaining natural light throughout the space, pass-doors are all fully glazed, with an adjacent panel also being fully glazed in each instance. For added wow factor, solid panels feature eye-catching graphics.“We have worked with etc.venues several times before,” said Michael Porter, Style’s group sales director, “and it is a privilege to continue being involved in creating market leading meeting, event and exhibition space that offers users outstanding flexibility.etc.venues’ mission is to rescue people from the tyranny of dull meeting venues by inspiring them with vibrant design and contemporary art, offering fresh and carefully sourced food, coupled with award-winning hospitality.155 Bishopsgate has established itself as one of The City’s most stylish conference destinations and one of the largest too, with a total capacity across the two floors exceeding 1,000 guests.The new Variflex moveable wall arrangement enables etc.venues to host an extensive combination of meetings by closing off each area into smaller meeting rooms, opening up multiple rooms into one larger meeting area or moving all walls away to create a vast open plan conference/exhibition space.With Style prioritising acoustic integrity throughout the installation process, coupled with semi-automatic operation that ensures the seals between the panels are expanded to exactly the right pressure every time, a 52dB Rw acoustic rating is achieved, delivering complete privacy between divided areas.

Lifting platforms integrated flush within the remaining gym area and colourised to highlight drop area.“We recently installed Pliteq flooring in our brand new Meadowbank facility. The product is top quality and the noise dampening in our free weights area is great. The noise from dropping weights is completely minimised making the experience of other users more enjoyable. There is also no reverb heard or felt in other rooms nearby.”

Lionweld Kennedy supplied open mesh flooring, handrails, stairs and removeable chains to the Hitachi Rail Facility in Aycliffe Industrial Estate. We supplied three 250 metre long inspection walkways and eighteen 27 metre long access platforms around their 460,000 sq ft factory.Hitatchi have been involved in the HS2 development, designing, building and delivering a fleet of bespoke high speed trains. Their new installation helps the team to be proactive with their work, ensuring their health and safety at all times with ball-proof grating.

Strata Tower was the first development in the world where wind turbines were constructed within the fabric of the building, setting new standards in sustainable living and becoming one of London’s new icons. Our brief: to design a ground floor entrance that was as commanding as the building above it.SOLUTION:The Strata Tower's 4.5 meter high automatic revolving main entrance door, with enhanced security features and frameless 4.5 meter high automatic pass door, was developed by Open Entrances to meet BFLS' (formerly Hamiltons Masterplanners) design intent.

Wellness, sport and relaxation are the soul of this wellness hotel in Austria, built as if a huge sail immersed in the alpine landscape and equipped with the most sought-after luxuries. 5000 m² of the surface is covered with the Trust collection in Ivory and Gold, of various sizes on floors and on walls in the suites and thermal area.The ceramic tiles, inspired by natural stones are Ecolabel certified and create a harmonious balance between the surrounding landscape and the resort itself, an interchange of sensations that absorbs guests into a new dimension where respect for the environment and the eco-system are values are of the utmost importance.

Soundis were contracted to supply and install Absorb-R GypLine aw Acoustic Spray Plaster to the ceilings on the Ground Floor at the Lavazza coffee shop’s flagship store in Marlborough, London.  Absorb-R GypLine aw Acoustic Spray Plaster was chosen due to itsseamless finish providing amazing reductions in reverberation times whilst blendinginto the look of the whole ceiling which gave a sophisticated but modern lookcomplementing the style of the coffee shop. Installation was carried out by our installation partner UK Acoustic Systems

The main kitchen at the Old Deanery, official residence to the Bishop of London, was part of a major refurbishment of this historic home, lying in the shadow of St Paul’s Cathedral.Situated on the first floor, the main kitchen is a very compact room and this presented special challenges to its design. The available space was truly maximised under the design of Caroe Architects and it was then the task of GEC Anderson to measure, supply and install the specialist fabrications as well as the many appliances.Sykes & Son Ltd were awarded the main contact for the the total refurbishment project.

Witley Court is a ruined Italianate mansion built in the seventeenth century and expanded in the early nineteenth century by the Architect John Nash. In 1937 a major accidental fire broke out and whilst the building is in ruins, it is Grade I listed and in the care of English Heritage who restored the formal gardens and fountains. Bolton Gate were engaged to design and manufacture gates replacement gates to provide night-time security with special folding bottom tracks to leave the floor surface intact and installed with great care to maintain the building’s status.

The team at Canal were approached by the client and design team at Collins Construction to manufacture an impressive bespoke staircase for the WD40 European headquarters. The client requested a feature staircase that connected three floors and reception desk inside the main central building. The technical sales team at Canal worked closely with the client to address the finer details including building regulations, existing constraints, structurals, logistics and overall aesthetics. The client requested the staircase to be manufactured in mild steel with a raw oiled finish to blend with their brand identity. .

TJX Europe’s landmark new headquarters in the centre of Watford demonstrates how Biotecture’s living walls can transform urban landscapes and create an architectural feature to stunning effect. Standing at 12 storeys high, it is one of the tallest buildings in Watford and features over 620 square metres of living wall, positioned internally and externally both at ground level and with multiple elevations, including a seventh-floor roof terrace. The living wall was installed nearly a year ahead of the the project handover and will contribute to the target BREEAM 'Excellent' rating.

Bok Tower is a transitional steel frame construction built between 1927 and 1929 and houses a 60-bell carillon (set oftuned bells). The tower is 205 feet tall, has eleven floors with the belltowerfrom levels 8 through 11. The Gothic revival architecture has three forms of masonry that adorn the exterior: coquina brick, intricate marble detailing and sculptures clad the steel columns and decorative tile panels. It was facing structural corrosion which C-Probe Systems effectively managed using an ICCP system.

The Hyatt hotel chain set itself the goal of building a new hotel in the vicinity of the Corferias Convention Centre in Bogotá.
