This1970s dwelling in South Dublin’s suburbs was transformed and renovated to a modern detached, energy-efficient home and office. The ultimate aim of this project was to design a taller building, radically reduce the building’s energy consumption, maintain the structural integrity of the building fabric, increase thermal comfort for the occupants, and reduce carbon emissions.A suite of passive strategies was implemented to meet the requirements of the EnerPHit standard. The project incorporated superior airtightness, green thermal bridging solutions, blockwork insulation on the external structure, triple-glazed windows, and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery to attain an A3 energy efficiency rating.Creating an airtight and insulated building envelope is the cornerstone of a Deep Energy Retrofit. Partel’s IZOPERM PLUS phA certified airtight product system delivered maximum airtightness in The Willows project

ASF were already supplying the ASF 5002 bollard to this site with an internal heavy duty steel core to make them ram raid resiatent, when we were asked about bollards that would fold into a trough below ground level. These were for the players entrance and would need to sustain a lot of traffic passover as well as fully loaded coaches. The ASF Boston Trough was used which is manufactured to meet the U.S. H20 load bearing capacity, suitable for 'large trucks', HGV's and artics. This has a 32,000lbs axle weight capacity

The Crystal, a Sustainable Cities Initiative by Siemens, is the world’s largest exhibition on the future of cities. Wilkinson Eyre Architects were responsible for the dramatic crystal-shaped glazed structure, covering 2,000m2, at Royal Victoria Docks in London. The varied interior spaces were designed by fit-out architects Pringle Brandon Perkins+Will. Lang+Fulton supplied panels of their specialist Barrot grating for the mezzanine exhibition space. Each panel was a unique angular shape to add visual interest to the flooring. The wide bearing surface of the grating profile was chosen for its pedestrian comfort. Product: Barrot

Instigated in 2015, the Royal Arena in Copenhagen is now complete. Specified by Danish Architecture firm 3XN, roughly 250 cubic metres of Accoya was used to create the entire façade. Accoya was selected for the fins due to its elegant aesthetic appearance which gives the building an eye-catching & bespoke style. The arena is able to seat 12,500 people with additional capacity for 15,000 standing. Accoya was also chosen due to its durability & worldwide environmental standards. 3XN are known for adhering to the principles of sustainable development, so Accoya was the ideal material for the project.

Accoya was chosen as the ideal material for the extension because of it aesthetic appearance as well as its ability to provide better insulation than other materials. & the owners wanted to use the most sustainable material they could. The Accoya extension which houses the show piece kitchen will be left to weather naturally and match the pale grey flooring. This was specifically designed so that in the summer, when the sliding door completely opens, the interior & exterior space will merge seamlessly.

Accoya was selected as the ideal material to clad this Burleigh Brewery project in Australia. Burleigh Brewing began on 1 July 2006 and immediately set about pioneering the craft beer movement on the Gold Coast. Distributed by Britton Timbers, Accoya was chosen because the project called for a low maintenance, sustainable external cladding with a high-end appearance. Accoya was also ideal due to its natural blonde aesthetic, which was carefully selected to ensure the Brewery logo was as prominent and distinctive as possible. Roughly 4 m3 of Accoya was used with an Integrain coating.

Re-form Landscape Architecture were tasked with sourcing sustainable hard landscaping for The Sarah Swift Building, University of Lincoln.The public realm setting of the building links Brayford Wharf through to the historic Wigford Yard. Ultimately the space extends through to Lincolns’ High Street – thus uniting the University campus with the city centre. As such, a paving solution was required that would adequately define the areas and complement the modern facade of the University building.Tobermore’s Fusion block paving in Silver and Graphite was chosen as the hard landscaping of choice, complemented by the addition of Fusion Kerb.

Engineering firm Tedd Engineering recently expanded into a new unit due to the sustained success of its bespoke advanced control units. Penny Hydraulics were approached to design, manufacture and install a lifting solution to move components between floor level and their mezzanine where many of the products are made. A MezzLight was specified as the ideal solution for Tedd Engineering’s moving and handling problem. With a safe working load of 250kg providing more than enough lifting capacity for the task at hand, its interlocked door system and hold-to-run operation the MezzLight was a safe and efficient solution.

Following a successful park and ride facility in the west of the city and to reduce traffic further, an east park and ride facility comprising 1800 car parking spaces as part of a regeneration scheme. The park and ride design focused on sustainability and protecting local habitats. Due to restrictions on run off levels Cornwall council opted for Porous Paving. ABG Sudspave 40 permeable pavers were installed on free draining aggregate to enhance surface water drainage. Sudspave was supplied pre assembles for rapid installation. The panels can be filled with topsoil, gravel or seeded.

The New Hollies transport cafe has been serving drivers and travellers on Watling Street (A5) since 1933. The cafe has grown significantly and hundreds of HGVs visit each week creating a demand for robust, sustainable parking. Due to the high water table, permission was granted but with the restrictions to keep the water level at the pre development level. It became clear that permeable paving would meet the requirements. ABG Truckcell was used as surfacing with Terrex as a filtration textile. Truckcell is a heavy duty plastic paver able to withstand the forces exerted by multiple wheeled vehicles.

The project was developed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects, and its glazed structure has created a new independent global hub for debate on sustainable urban living. Its design intends to both reflect the building´s context and at the same time having a degree of transparency to help connect the building with its surroundings. In this project was used insulated glass materials with varying levels of transparency, allowing spaces to be naturally lit whilst controlling solar gain. Effisus Ecofacade system was applied as an integrated solution to ensure water and air tightness of all facade elements connections.

What ensued was a sustainable refurbishment and extension project – key features included the creation of open plan living, full of natural light, with the inclusion of a flexible office space built on via an extension.

Knowing SAS well, they were seeking a manufacturing and design partner to realise true innovation in product design and engineering. There are many architectural features of note both inside and outside of the building. That said, you immediately notice the ceiling once inside, it is unlike anything seen previously. The Integrated Ceiling Panels combine acoustics, lighting and temperature control. This is a first for the UK and likely globally. Achieving a 98.5% ‘Outstanding’ BREEAM rating, the project is the most sustainable commercial office building in Europe.

Built in 1815 and sited on the River Test near Winchester, Hampshire, this historic mill weaves silk fabrics using 19th-century machinery. One of just four working silk mills in the country, it is the only one open to visitors. As such, accessibility is key to the mill’s ongoing Preserving the Fabric project, a Heritage Lottery Fund scheme focused on the mill’s sustainable future.

With the inclusion of four penthouse apartments on the fourth floor, the entire structure of the building was designed with timber frame overlooking the remarkable wildlife corridor of the reclaimed historic Basingstoke Canal.Cellecta’s DECKfon Batten 70 was specified by ADN Planning as they have been rigorously tested and are robust detail complaint for steel, concrete and timber separating floor applications. The battens consist of a layer of recycled, low resonance, open cell, flexible polyurethane foam bonded to an FSC/PEFC certified timber batten.Consero London was awarded this 6,000m² contract to construct this development in the centre of Woking, London.

A redevelopment was appointed by Gloucestershire County Council as the building was a vacant asbestos ridden 1960s building. There are four staircases and integral lifts to the second floor as well as a further 3 lifts dedicated to first floor, serving both GP practices.Cellecta’s ScreedBoard 20 was specified by ADP Architecture due to it being the ideal overlay floorboard for acoustic applications. ScreedBoard 20 was laid upon a first floor over PIR to achieve U Values as the build was unable to accept a wet screed due to weight restrictions upon the ground.Kier Group was awarded this 2,500m² contract to construct this development in the centre of Gloucester.

Devonshire Row, 150 Bishopsgate is a residential and commercial redevelopment in Central London. The existing façade was retained amongst the area to be redeveloped. The project consisted of 97,718 square metres of floor space and includes a site area of 5,000 square metres, with 284 residential units, car parking, leisure and entertainment facilities as well as business ventures. KEIM’s remit was to coat the existing Bath stone façade to match and blend seamlessly with the new Portland Stone façade.To deal with the potential for the new stone to age differently, KEIM Fixativ was applied to preserve and prevent the surface from getting soiled.KEIM Soldalit in colour 9295 was applied to all the surfaces, followed by a two-coat application of KEIM Restauro Lasur in colours ST019 and ST002 to mimic the new Portland Stone façade.

A series of column casings from the Pendock Radius range, three of which reach more than 11 metres high, have been installed at the new Extreme Photonic Application Centre (EPAC) building at the Harwell Campus in Didcot, Oxfordshire.Each of the 350mm diameter column casings are manufactured from pre-formed ply/MDF with a durable high pressure laminate finish, which resists scuffing and damage. The casings are stacked to reach the extended heights required to conceal interior structural supports behind the building’s glazed facade.In addition to the three 11 metre high casings, which form part of the main entrance and reception area, the other Pendock Radius casings are located in an adjacent area, which provides access to laboratories and offices.

In 2019 Inpro were asked by Skanska to tender for an expansion joint product line addressing the exterior cladding of this unique facility. At that time, several other manufacturing companies were being considered for the wide ranging scope of movement joints required. However after in depth interviews, only Inpro was able to offer all the complex joint solutions required in one primary supplier.Detailed Sustainability product information was submitted and verified by third parties.Complicated Shop Drawings and take-offs of the massive 6-building involved depicting multiple complicated transitions between varying substrates, differing products and a range of geometries for the custom-made solutions.Demonstrated our ability to overcome complex technical and field-related problems.Were involved with hours of online meetings with the main stakeholders- Skanska technical teams, the Architectural team and the Installing Contractor in a collaborative approach to implement best practice and minimize risk.This was an Inpro team project including Senior Product Management, Sustainability team, estimation and commercial management who all played an important part to land this iconic development with SKANSKA.

These are the secure FalcoCrea cycle lockers Falco recently manufactured, supplied and installed for Granton Harbour in Edinburgh – a new waterfront mixed housing development, bringing 306 affordable homes to the north Edinburgh coast.Robust cycle parking was at the forefront of the initial design stage of the flagship development, aiming to provide up to 1,300 residents with a sustainable, cost-effective mode of transport.The City of Edinburgh Council project aims to help more people choose cycling as an affordable and sustainable way of travel for everyday journeys and has been developed in partnership with the nation’s cycling charity, Cycling Scotland and supported by Transport Scotland grant funding.This month, Falco supplied and installed ten FalcoCrea cycle lockers, providing Granton Harbour residents with up to 40 secure cycle spaces, all within an eye-catching, compact cycle locker design.As a registered supplier of sustainable wood, all three Falco shelters have been clad in FSC® certified hardwood, designed to be sympathetic to the surrounding area. Each FalcoCrea cycle store features double doors for easy accessibility and all shelters incorporate cylinder locks for high security.The FalcoCrea has proven to be a highly popular cycle locker since its launch providing local authorities and housing associations with a cycle parking solution which answers three common problems; security, spacing footprint and branding. The FalcoCrea is designed to provide maximum security, within a compact space saving design and fully capable of incorporating branding to promote cycling as a principal mode of transport.The ingenious cycle locker has already been commissioned for a number of schemes across the UK including recent installations at; Moray Carshare charity, The Social Bite Village in Edinburgh, Rouken Glen Park in Glasgow and Barra Airport and Oban Airport.With the use of an electric cycle charging point (FalcoCrea+), the cycle locker can be transformed into a convenient charging hub for electric bikes whilst retaining all of the benefits from the standard model. The restaurant and function centre have also become known as a showcase for local timber, stone and artisan craft.The vibrant new interior, created by Karlee Boucher of KADA interior design, is fresh and contemporary. Welcoming diners into the restaurant, an Armourcoat Sculptural feature wall in a ‘Flow wave’ design creates a dramatic and original design statement. The ‘wave’ design is continued with a longer wall into the dining space. Sculptural seamless contoured wall surfaces offer impactful designs with cast relief. Each signature design is created from cast GRG (Glass-fibre Reinforced Gypsum) panels, CAD generated to enable a continuous pattern or unique decorative effect.Throughout the restaurant, the use of ArmourColor Perlata architectural coatings provides a sophisticated shimmer effect and subtle backdrop to the architectural detailing. Columns within the ground floor Catalina Room have also been decorated with textured plaster in a ‘Travertine’ finish. Hand-applied by artisan craftsmen from The Polished Plaster Company, the finish creates a light open texture and gives the appearance of natural travertine stone. The Polished Plaster Company is the appointed agent and applicator of Armourcoat finishes in Western Australia. Nigel Goldsmith, Managing Director commented, “The specification of these modern decorative finishes; echo the local crafts, with their ancient roots and skilled application. The new Sculptural finish is also right on trend, tapping into current designs using 3D forms”. The Polished Plaster Company is pleased to present their Armourcoat showroom in nearby O’Connor, which can be viewed by appointment.
