This Grade II listed windmill in Blakesley was built in 1832 and bought by the current owners 25 years ago. Since then, they have been keeping up with the restoration of the property.The owners stayed in a lighthouse during a vacation and read up that KEIM had been used on lighthouses due to its hard wearing and durable formula. They specified KEIM to their decorator, who subsequently got in touch to arrange a site visit.Dave Smith, Senior Sales Executive of KEIM Mineral Paints, visited the property in May 2018. It had various different coatings applied over the years, including limewash, none of which were particularly successful and the most recent limewash was patchy. The owners were looking for a long lasting, durable but breathable coating.The building was sand blasted to remove the existing coatings and allow for KEIM Silan Primer to be applied to give protection against water ingress. An extra coat of KEIM Silan Primer was applied on the top third of the building as this area was most exposed.The KEIM Royalan system was applied as it withstands harsh weather conditions and is specified for exposed locations. Its advanced formulation makes it ideal for coating hard substrates such as brickwork. The owners commented “we are very happy with the level of service provided. Dave came out to visit us a few times and was extremely helpful, explaining what was required.”

HMS Caroline – Museum ship... CHALLENGE HMS Caroline, the last surviving vessel from the 1916 Battle of Jutland, now rests in the Titanic Quarter in Belfast. After a second life as floating Headquarters of the Royal Navy during World War II, this living legend will continue to serve the country as a museum ship. For this purpose, however, extensive restoration appeared to be essential. The key requirement on HMS Caroline was to avoid penetration of the deck surface. To safeguard its historic heritage against damage, the Royal Navy sought a reliable waterproofing solution. SOLUTION Versatile and impenetrable! What used to be the properties of this battle cruiser, happen to apply to the RENOLIT synthetic single ply roofing membranes as well. That’s why RENOLIT ALKORPLAN was heralded as the optimal solution for the refurbishment of the ship’s gun deck. The lead grey RENOLIT ALKORPLAN A provided an ideal modern day solution with an impressive finish. On top of a new layer of insulation board, the calendered and laminated fleece-backed PVC membrane was fully bonded with a combination of the RENOLIT ALKORPLUS81068 polyurethane adhesive and the universal RENOLIT DUALFIX81065 glue. RENOLIT ALKORPLAN stands out above the competition given its excellent weldability, simplicity of detailing and overall versatility. Once installed, ongoing maintenance of the membrane will be minimal with a predicted life expectancy in excess of 35 years (BBA approved). On 31st of May 2016 the freshly refurbished HMS Caroline stole the show as a fitting backdrop for a commemoration honouring its centenary. 

As part of the iconic Manchester Central Library's three-year overhaul to make its facilities more accessible, a bespoke flooring solution was supplied of Resuflor Terrazzo and Resuflor Screed to complete this refurbishment and give the buidling a great new appeal. The terrazzo provided a super smooth decorative floor and the epoxy screed incorporated fine aggregate on the surface to the stairs and ramped areas of the building to promote an anti-slip finish.The multi-million pound refurbishment project saw public entrances of the Grade ll listed building restored to their 1930's appearance. New staircases and lift shafts were inserted to improve access throughout the building.The brief on this project was to provide a modern functional flooring solution that complemented the library's unique neo-classical style.The besposke design of Resuflor Terrazzo was supplied in a special colour pallet to complement the neo-classical design features of the library. The system was chosen because of its seamless properties, ensuring a flat, continuous floor surface with extreme durability for a long term solution.The product was also used as a pre-cast terrazzo system on some central stair areas of the library.Resuflor Screed was supplied and applied on the ramped areas as a semi-decorative finish with a special aggregate bead incorporated for improved slip resistance.The end result was a functional floor capable of withstanding heavy footfall that fitted with the aesthetic requirements of the overall design superbly.

Surrounded by rolling fields, wetlands and a riverbank, Wraxall Yard is situated in the heart of the West Country. Clementine Blakemore Architects were entrusted to convert and rebuild a collection of derelict barns for this not-for-profit organisation, run by a father and daughter team. The philosophy behind this project - to create a multifunctional development with accessibility for all; with an educational farm, community space and a series of holiday cottages. As the collection of buildings sat within the West Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it was essential the buildings were sympathetically restored, retaining the agricultural aesthetic. The Neo Rooflights played an instrumental role in creating cross ventilation in conjunction with the doors, ensuring the spaces were not only light and bright, but also well-ventilated for the comfort of its guests. Accessibility at the core of the project was the driving factor for requiring motorised opening rooflights with rain sensors, allowing visitors to have full control of room temperatures with ease. The concealed jamb motors, unique to The Rooflight Co's Neo design gave the architect the ability to achieve a clean flush installation externally, frameless lining to glass installation internally, and unobstructed views out to the fields beyond.In total 7 Neo Rooflights were specified to create the airy, tranquil, and peaceful spaces both the architect and the owner wanted to achieve. Testimony to the design and quality of the project is the High Commendation received by Clementine Blakemore Architects in the 2023 MacEwan Awards and winning the 2023 AJ Retrofit Awards.

Stargroves, a Grade II listed building, is a manor house and estate in Hampshire. Its best known for being the home of Mick Jagger in the 70s. The on site recording studio has been used by The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, and Bob Marley, adding to the rich history of the site.Other bands who have recorded on the grounds include Bob Marley, Iron Maiden and Status Quo.The project entailed the refurbishment of the internal swimming pool area. Main contractor SizeBreed Construction, gave the project to Soundis, to resolve the persistent reverberation issues within the area. Crucially, however, they didn’t want a solution which took away from the character of the building.This was perfect project for the seamless 25mm Spray Plaster Boards. This system can be applied to virtually any surface, including straight and curved walls, dramatic angles and arching domes. Which was particularly helpful on the outside the pool area. Acoustic spray plaster solutions offer a more flexible, discreet alternative to traditional acoustic solutions, such as suspended ceilings.

The Dairy is a retirement Living Plus development built in 2017 for people over the age of 70. Providing both one and two bedroom apartments, each apartment has a fully fitted kitchen, underfloor heating, fitted and tiled shower room with level access shower and a 24 hour emergency call system. Facilities include a hair and nail salon, lifts to all floors, club lounge, restaurant and a south facing courtyard garden. Transport links to surrounding towns and cities are available via rail and road. The railway station has trains running directly to Charing Cross and London Bridge which takes one hour.Cellecta’s Mojave S1-8 was specified by Lewis & Hickey due to it being a lightweight option for an acoustic composite floor build up. This system has a low energy use, reducing running costs and co2 emissions, which benefits the environment.McCarthy & Stone were awarded this 2,860m² contract to construct this development on St John’s Road in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

DCM Surfaces were thrilled to be part of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ inspired playground at St Thomas’s School in Clapham.Blue Forest were the successful bidders in the contract for the play area, which included rope bridges, winding log walks, monkey bars, clamber nets, sunken tyre stepping stones, and a draw-bridge. As a long-standing customer, Blue Forest approached DCM to provide a natural looking surface which would complement the timber-style play equipment.Following the successful completion of the project, DCM has since worked with Blue Forest to install the play surface at Thomas’s Clapham sister school, Thomas’s Battersea, before the enrolment of Prince George in September.The Project Manager at Blue Forest commented:“From the office staff to the on-site installers, DCM worked hard to accommodate our requirements. New for the 2022/23 academic year, Archwood House at Eagle Wharf for University of the Arts London offers contemporary student accommodation in a range of EGGER finishes.U717 ST9 Dakar Grey forms a neutral palette in the kitchens. Used in 18mm Eurodekor MFC, the handleless door format in mixed sizes could easily be achieved without excess labour or material waste. Matching edging completes the look.The units are complemented by EGGER worktops in F638 ST16 Chromix Silver in a 38mm postformed format, highlighting the contemporary design scheme with a stone like look and feel. Matching splashbacks are also used.In the bedrooms, a rustic look is added with H3332 ST10 Grey Nebraska Oak. Used in 18mm Eurodekor MFC, the material is an efficient and cost effective choice for case goods including shelving and storage.The project was designed by Nelson and Long. Fabrication was by Flawless Kitchens using EGGER 18mm Eurodekor MFC, ABS edging, 38mm postformed worktops and splashbacks from UK stock.

This five-plot new build project in rural Lincolnshire required cream sash windows in order to match the local architecture, including the stone lintels and cills that had been selected. As a high-end development, the windows needed to be high spec and fully accredited.Solid cream Charisma Rose sash windows were ideal for the project. As a standard colour, the windows didn’t need to be foiled or sprayed. Charisma Rose – like all windows in the Rose Collection – already had all necessary certification and accreditations in place, including Part Q compliance to meet building regulations.As a luxury development, the windows were specified with several features that set them apart from standard sashes. Many windows included arched heads with traditional sunburst astragal bar designs and unequal split sashes for visual balance. All of the windows incorporated traditional run-through horns for authenticity, and colour-coded trickle vents to meet regulations without affecting the overall appearance.

Based in Lincoln this multiple dwelling new build project required sash windows to fit its architecture. The homes were built using local stone which meant standard white windows wouldn’t match its high-end appearance. The developers also needed windows that came with high performing benefits such as thermal efficiency, security, all while remaining maintenance-free. Using our in-house spray shop, Charisma Rose was specified in a solid cream option that complimented the stonework beautifully. The trickle vents were also colour matched to seamlessly blend in with the windows and keep the luxury charm of the buildings. A traditional astragal bar grid was picked to match Georgian architecture as well as run through horns and a 2/3 unequal split for the ground floor. This project ran smoothly providing more than 50 sash windows over seven dwellings. All windows were manufactured and delivered on time and snag-free, meaning there was no impact on the developers schedules.

The Allsop family started planning their kitchen renovation project in September 2021 and wanted to create an inviting room featuring special touches such as glass work surfaces alongside the latest in energy-saving technology. As they had already installed underfloor heating in their home before, they knew that an electric floor heater would be the ideal heating solution due to its ease of use, sustainable technology, and low running costs. Beckfoot Allerton opened on 19th November 1894, a proud day for the village of Allerton and its people. The school underwent many changes throughout the years surviving and contributing to both war efforts, while continuing to hold their high standards of education. In 1928 the school official became a primary school and later in 1960 a junior and infants’ school further undergoing changes. After a local authority change in 2000 Beckfoot Allerton Primary school was reborn. In the present day the school is much different to when it was opened generations ago and continues to serve as a corner stone of the village and its community.Taking into consideration all of the requirements of the roof, a bespoke specification was prepared to refurbish the roof. Polyroof’s Protec System, a hybrid polymer liquid system with extremely fast curing and installation times, was the chosen system of use for the project. Due to its fully cold-applied application the works could be carried out during the Primary Schools term times, without having to wait for closure periods between terms.

TRC was appointed as principal contractor by Barker Associates in May 2019, to carry out specialist sash window restoration works.Trinity Primary Academy is a primary school located in Bounds Green Road, Wood Green, London. It was built in 1899 by Mitchell and Butler and consists of yellow brick and red brick dressings, tiled roofs, irregular fenestrations, and sash windows that give away its Queen Anne Revival style. It's currently categorised as a Grade II Listed building with Historic England, and is part of the Academies Enterprise Trust.Nature of the worksAs the building was Grade II listed, timber window repairs had to be sympathetic and complementary to the historic nature of the property. Many of the existing timber sash windows were inoperable due to the build-up of decorative coatings, timber degradation, and defective and broken sash window ironmongery, as well as opening mechanisms. The requirement was for the windows to be fully refurbished, repaired and operational as originally intended, but also modified to meet health and safety requirements.Phase one of the refurbishment of 200 sash and timber casement windows commenced on the area needing most attention: the west elevation of the building. Following the success of phase one, the client team extended TRC’s appointment to continue around the remainder of the building, systematically completing all other windows, door and roof light refurbishments.This overall refurbishment project included:Stripping back the existing paint from the historic sash windows and repairing any decayed timber.Repairing glazing as and where necessary.Improving the thermal and acoustic containment by installing draughtproofing.Repainting windows and installing ironmongery.Undertaking brick and stone repairs to the building’s exterior.This project also required our specialist attention on some specific areas of traditional glazing. This aspect of the project required the repair and refurbishment of all four oriel bay windows and the oriel bay glazed roofs. Completion included the supply and fixing of new safety glazing and hardwood timber roof rafters, along with the repair and refurbishment of the two existing openable roof lights. The supply and fixing of new code 4 lead flashing, with lead wedges, was also carried out and fully pointed with the correct cement mortar at the wall abutment.Additional detailed work throughout the project included the following:Removal of all existing fitted window blinds for refixing upon completion of works.Removal and repair of existing window ironmongery, including original mechanical winding gear, solid bar opening mechanisms, locking fasteners, slide bar restrictors, cable restrictors, handles and stays.Careful removal and repair of all internal fixed-glazed hopper units, casements and pivot openings.Removal and replacement of all cracked and broken glazing, and replacement of the existing Georgian wired-glazing, with 6mm safety glass or 4mm polished plate glass to areas up to 1.2m height from floor level. Where privacy was required, white opaque glass with thickness in accordance with above was used.Removal and replacement of all loose and defective glazing putties, and removal of all flaking, loose and built-up paint coatings.Exposure of all timber rot and decay ready for repair with Repair Care Systems products, followed by sanding and priming ready for decoration.Vertical sliding sashes repaired, refurbished and rehung on new sash cords and weights, and adjusted as needed. Sashes were routed to accept new brush pile weather stripping. New parting beads and staff beads were serviced with brush pile weather stripping where appropriate.Final internal and external decoration was carried out using Dulux or Leyland trade paints, allowing for one undercoat and one gloss finish.

A classic Parisian apartment is benefitting from the thermal effectiveness of the introduction of the innovative ultra-thin Spacetherm® WL insulation.Located in the 11th arrondissement in the heart of Paris on Boulevard Voltaire and overlooking the Place de la Republique, the two-bedroom, 135sqm apartment was built in the Hausmann style. Hausmann’s renovation of Paris was part of a major programme commissioned by Emperor Napoléon III in the late 19th century, resulting in the distinctive appearance of the wide avenues, parks and squares which have become associated with this beautiful city.Property owner Keirnan Murphy has made a significant investment in the renovation of the apartment to improve overall comfort, energy efficiency and to reduce heating costs.Keirnan explains, “The solid stone walls, whilst adding to the building’s charm, result in heating inefficiencies and higher heating costs. During summer the stone walls warm during the day, retaining and radiating heat throughout the night. In winter, the solid walls cool down leading to a huge increase in heating costs.We undertook lots of research on solutions for green and energy-efficient renovations. In the research, we considered products available within France and as well as those available internationally. The Spacetherm WL aerogel insulation from the A. Proctor Group was a perfect choice for the apartment. At just 13mm thickness, the Spacetherm WL fits inside the lip of our cornices, which average about 20mm. Typically the walls of these older properties are not completely flat and so the option of an ultra-thin insulation was critical. Most alternatives were thicker and would not have worked.We are very pleased with the results and we noticed that when leaning up against the Spacetherm WL you can feel your back warm against the insulation. The A. Proctor Group were extremely helpful in addressing all the questions from the architect and ourselves. They also provided comprehensive support and guidance to our builder on the installation.”Spacetherm WL is a high-performance laminate specifically designed to be fixed to the internal surfaces of existing solid walls without the need for mechanical fixings. Spacetherm WL consists of Spacetherm aerogel insulation blanket bonded to 3mm Magnesium Board (MgO), for use in applications where improved thermal performance is required with limited space.Typically, a solid wall will have a U value of around 2.1 W/m2K. Following the application of Spacetherm WL, this can be reduced to around 0.8 W/m2K, dependent on the wall structure.

St Bronagh’s Primary School in Rostrevor, County Down was a newly built school designed by Donnelly O Neill Architects Ltd and constructed by Ganson Building & Civil engineering contractors Ltd.The £3.9 million school was crowned with the Sustainability award in May 2018, replacing the former Convent of Mercy Primary School. This was demolished to make way for this new 7x classroom building, along with the construction of a new youth club building, sports hall, community and games room, and additional accommodation.Upon handover and occupancy, it became apparent that there was scope for improving the acoustic conditions within the new building.The school design itself, was made up of 7x ‘pods’ all of varying heights and reverberation within these areas was an acoustic concern. Working with the Project Architect Paul McMahon of Donnelly O Neill Architects Ltd, we identified that significant improvements could be delivered with the installation of 425 m2 of our Hush Absorber 50 panels to classrooms and resource areas.For practical and aesthetic reasons as well as meeting the required reverberation times, we supplied 286x Hush Absorbing Notice Boards in a neutral colour with a bespoke frame colour to ensure that they blended in with the existing décor.In certain areas we were asked to create a feature wall with the panels and so we used our Hush Absorber 50 panels which were provided in 4 vibrant colours to create both a statement to the chosen rooms as well meeting the required reverberation time.We also provided 3x large printed 50mm panels at high level within the staffroom. These panels were printed with an image of the Cloughmore Stone as requested by the school. The Cloughmore stone is significant to the area and is a giant 50 tonnes granite boulder that sits high above the village of Rostrevor.As well as creating a tailored interior design, the sound absorbing panels provide a practical and efficient way of dampening sound reverberation and eliminating echoes within the rooms.We worked closely with our stockists Commercial Connections in Crossgar, County Down to ensure both site presence and swift responses to technical and installation queries were met. Ganson UK and Hush were able to ensure that all material was supplied over an 8-week period to meet the time frames on site.A multitude of sustainable elements has made this school a successful build and getting the acoustics right has significantly contributed to the school’s success.

Britannia Leisure Centre is a new multi-sport community complex in Hackney. A key driver for the client was that the building should have a compact footprint. This was achieved by stacking the facilities, creating a rooftop MUGA with tennis courts and 5-a-side football pitches.Lang+Fulton supplied the external steel mesh panels which crown the building and provide panoramic views of London. These were made from their Terra-34 grating which features an anti-climb aperture. The tall slender panels were designed to continue the architectural theme of the building’s columns and vertical elements and were finished in a graphite grey ppc to compliment the neutral palette of stone, concrete and glass.In addition a grating screen was supplied to secure the upper levels of the stairway providing natural daylight and through visibility to the entrance atrium and cafe area.The steel grating also conformed to the requirement for material durability and low maintenance which were key specification considerations.The Britannia Leisure Centre has received multiple awards including Overall Building of the Year (New London Architecture).

IssueSaxen's 7,000 sq ft showroom, based in a renovated lace mill, displays a selection of some of the most innovative, contemporary, and stylish commercial furniture and accessories from across Europe. The showroom, boardroom, corridor, and breakout area needed a new floor which would create a perfect blend of design and style, aligning with the fashionable interior of the building which showcases modern furniture. ApproachEach adjacent area needed a unique design creating a natural flow through the building. As the areas are subject to high footfall from visiting customers and staff, the floor also needed to be durable, easy to clean and provide comfort underfoot with noise reduction. SolutionAltro Ensemble, an award-winning modular flooring system luxury vinyl tile was specified for each of the public-facing areas. With the ability to create unique designs, Altro Ensemble planks in colours Greige Rustic Oak and Anthracite Limed Harmonious Oak were laid in a herringbone pattern in the corridor, and block tiles in colours Anthracite Concrete and Fossil Stone through the showroom, boardroom and breakout area.

Mivan Marine LTD approached The Safety Letterbox Company with a specific cutting-edge, design requirement for their mailboxes, SLB managed to interpret that design with such precision, the outcome was extraordinary and truly stunning.The new development on 48 Carey Street located just opposite the Royal Courts of Justice and the Royal School of Surgeons is a 10-storey block consisting of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom luxury apartments with underground parking and leisure facilities.THE PRODUCTSLB created a truly unique, high-end, brand new product for this luxury development in central London. Incorporating multi-point opening, anodised materials, exceptional engraving detail and Italian stone cladding, SLB was delighted to create such a beautiful and visually exciting arrangement, turning the client’s vision into reality.These mailboxes are recessed into the wall with front entry and front retrieval, arranged in 2 banks; the first configuration is 13 high by 10 wide, and the 2nd is 10 high by 10 wide.

Surespan have recently completed the design and manufacturing of a large stainless steel hydraulic opening recessed floor door for a project in Sri-Lanka.The ProjectThe $850 million Waterfront integrated Resort (Cinnamon Life) is Sri Lanka’s largest and most iconic mixed development, located in the capital city of Colombo. Balmond Studio has designed and constructed the resort as a ‘city within a city’ offering two 5-star luxury hotels, offices, residences and premium retail and entertainment. They hope the resort will become one of the iconic and identifiable landmarks in Asia.The no-limits project is symbolic of Sri Lanka’s ambition, drive, and growth. The ProductSurespan were approached to manufacture the hatch to suit an opening of 6.5m by 4.1m and capable of withstanding a slow-moving wheel load of 10kN/m2. The pan-type door will be re-cessed for receiving 30mm of Natural Stone Slab infill with an approximate infill weight of 2 tonnes.Features The largest recessed floor hatch has been manufactured to provide a theoretical sound reduction of 45dB. To assist with installation, lifting points were designed to the frame exterior.

THE PROJECTAs part of it’s recent £100 million pound renovation, Roché Awnings were tasked with providing a shading solution which was in keeping with the hotels iconic features, whilst covering the width of their ground floor terrace. The terrace being the location for the hotel’s east smoking terrace, central loggia door entrance and private outdoor dining area.THE SOLUTIONThe challenge was to choose an awning which blended in with the style of the Edwardian building. Originally designed to incorporate the Markilux 730 drop arm awnings, we advised the hotel to choose the Markilux 3300 awnings due to it’s unique design. The awnings were mounted to the buildings stone facade and sit inconspicuously below the hotel’s balustrade. The helped the awning merge beautifully into the architecture of the building.Roché coupled Markilux 3300 full cassette patio awnings to achieve widths of close to 10 and 13 metres, along with a smaller width of close to 3 metres. The awning was installed green fabric, traffic white cassette and uniform awning projection. The positioning provided full protection for the open terrace area.

A charming, contemporary style private villa with a swimming-pool in Gobelsbach in Germany was designed to create a large living solution surrounded by nature.Atlas Concorde outdoor floors of the Trust LASTRA 20mm collection give a touch of elegance to the outdoor spaces of the house. The outdoor flooring of the terrace of the villa mirrors, with harmony, the naturalness of the surrounding environment. The wood-look porcelain tiles have a rich and detailed surface that conjures up images of nature that is lavish and intriguing. The garden and the relaxation area develops into a sought-after outdoor space where even the smallest of details have been cared for, thanks to the presence of a large swimming-pool with shower and an outdoor living area. The stone-look porcelain tiles are the protagonists of the patios surrounded by the green facing the rooms of the house. The outdoor floors covered with Trust LASTRA in 20mm thickness and in size 45x90 permeates into the space with a surface featuring excellent technical performance, is safe, anti-slip and resistant to adverse weather conditions. The collection also includes numerous trim tiles that are suitable to clad swimming-pool edges, pathways and steps guaranteeing a coordinated project.

One Crown Place is the latest high rise addition to London’s skyline. Home to 246 luxury apartments, high-quality office space, a boutique hotel and members’ club, it is located between the City of London and Shoreditch. Designed by internationally renowned architects Kohn Pederson Fox (KPF), the development features two prismatic towers of 28 and 33 storeys.For the apartments, interior designers, Bowler James Brindley specified custom designed kitchens by Italian company Arclinea featuring a dark lacquered finish with engineered stone worktops and glass fronted cabinets.The Fire regulations which apply to high-rise living accommodation meant that the open plan kitchens in each apartment would require a fire suppression unit complete with sprinklers to be fitted. These units need to be installed and maintained by a specialist engineer and can also cause damage within a property should they be activated due to a fire.  Therefore, the team of architects, designers and builders were open to the idea of an alternative, unobtrusive design-led fire prevention solution, such as the Firechief Kitchen Stove Guard.

TRC been appointed by Morgan Sindall Construction to design, supply and install double glazed, factory finished heritage casement windows to match the already existing windows at the school.Douay Martyrs Catholic School is another of many UK schools to benefit from the Government financed window replacement scheme.The listed school in Uxbridge, Greater London, has had 105 high spec Heritage Casement Windows installed as part of the Department of Educations bid to refresh and revitalize schools across the UK.We were tasked to design, supply and install the heritage windows whilst making sure to maintain the heritage look and feel of the already existing windows throughout the building.We have a huge amount of experience and expertise in restoring and breathing new life into schools, hospitals and other significant public buildings, with Douay Martyrs Catholic School being one of six school projects that TRC has completed since the ease of 2021’s COVID restrictions.Heritage Casement windows are one of the most popular window styles in the UK. They’re easy to use and allow for optimum airflow for great temperature control. While the summer holidays are going on, many schools are thinking about restoring, replacing, or expanding the current lockers. The holidays are a great time to get these jobs done, as it's much quicker for installers to operate and they don’t get in the way of your students. Our Team at Helmsman manufactured and installed new lockers replacing the old ones at Weald of Kent Grammar.  Weald of Kent Grammar is a secondary school that has a strong focus on academic achievement and selects pupils based on their ability.The school requested metal lockers, with 3 compartments and 1 compartment with metal sloping tops. Metal lockers are a beneficial option for schools, as they can come in a range of compartments, colours, and sizes. The school requested sloping tops that prevent people from using the top of the lockers as a storage area, which can create a safety hazard if items fall or if students climb on top of the lockers.Our team manufactured 98 one-compartment lockers with the size of lockers 665mm high, 300mm wide, and 450mm deep. Also, three compartment that is 1775mm high, 300 wide, and 450 deep. The colour of the lockers was requested to be ‘Ultramarine Blue’ with body colour to be ‘Ice’. With sloping tops to be 'elegant grey' and extended by 80mm. With the lockers, they have requested Cam locks which would make students feel guaranteed that their belongings are safe and secure.It was great to work again with Weald of Kent Grammar on this project. Over the past two years, The Pattern Shop has undergone meticulous restoration to provide stunning and sustainable office space. The structure of the building provides more than 3,000 square metres of adaptable office space with southerly views across the River Tyne.We have been working alongside Workwell Furniture to manufacture and install Heated Z Lockers for users to store personal belongings and allow commuters to dry damp garments.Throughout this project, our team provided and installed 6 heated Z lockers to accommodate 12 users. Z-shaped lockers are an excellent choice if space optimization is key to your design. These lockers have a small footprint but maximised internal space. They can comfortably hold large personal items as well as hanging items just as clothes. The specifications of the Z Lockers were 1775mm high, 350mm wide and 450mm deep with perforation, to allow the air to flow around the lockers.The stunning Z Lockers were manufactured with an aluminium carcass, and stainless steel frame, suitable for environments with high humidity. The laminate was in beautiful ‘Pleated Teak’ from the Helmsman laminate colour chart. The carcasses of the lockers were powder coated in the Helmsman metal colour range ‘Smoke’, to create an aesthetic locker. The rigorous geometric pattern softened by the structural grain patterns and colourations inherent in the wood provide a warm and elegant backdrop that will last for generations to come. The ChallengeNo. 1 Horgan’s Quay is one of the development’s three office buildings, with the upper floors of the new modern structure cantilevered over the site’s original Goods Shed. The lobby area features a large glazed partition on the first floor, helping to create an open, light space, as well as sympathetically blending the old restored structure with the new.KCC Group, a door and glazing contractor, were appointed to deliver the EI30 SWS Screen works on the project. Site Contracts Manager, Ger McNamee, said: “In order to ensure the safety of those within the building, 30-minute fire protection was required for the reception area, providing a fire barrier between the lobby and the first floor. Once we had the fire safety glass specification from the architect, O’Mahony Pike Architects, it was up to our team at KCC Group to source a supplier – this is when our relationship with Pyroguard began.”The SolutionTo ensure that the desired aesthetic was achieved, while also meeting building safety regulations, Pyroguard Infinity T-EI30/24-2 SWS fire safety glass was chosen by KCC Group and installed in the glazed partition, within a Jansen steel profile system.Pyroguard Infinity is a range of fire safety glass certified for butt-joint applications.
