Falco designed, manufactured and installed the new e-Cargo bike storage hangars for the UK’s first e-cargo bike share scheme launched this week in Hackney. Operated by Beryl bikes on behalf of Hackney Council, the scheme is the first of its kind in the UK offering public cargo bike hire.The specially designed FalcoCargoBoxes are fitted with the new FalcoSmart locking-app which is linked to the Beryl booking app enabling users to hire one of the brand new e-cargo bikes and open the cargo hangar with their phone.The scheme was launched in Stoke Newington on ‘World Car-free Day’ as part of the tri-borough Zero Emissions Network (ZEN) of Hackney, Islington and Tower Hamlets. Eight new Raleigh cargo bikes, capable of transporting goods up to 80kg, with 3 levels of power assist will be available to rent from four docking stations across Hackney, with two in Shoreditch, close to the borders with Islington and Tower Hamlets, one in London Fields and one in Stoke Newington.Attending the high profile event were Will Norman - the Mayor of London's Walking & Cycling Commissioner, Cllr Mete Coban MBE, Cabinet Member for Energy, Waste, Transport and Public Realm and Cllr Rowena Champion, Islington Council’s Executive Member for Environment and Transport. These include three types of bike storage for the site and a bespoke Amazon Eco Bin Store, ensuring all residents' needs are met.For the primary cycle storage area on the site intended for the accommodation residents, we built a 100-space Amazon Eco Two-Tier Cycle Shelter, with Gas-Powder-Coated Upper Tiers for ease of use, our ever-popular Sheffield stands on the lower tier for efficiency. Alongside the 100 Space Shelter, we provided 6 Vertical Bike Lockers for a premium, personal storage solution. Finally, we provided some easily visible and accessible Stainless Steel Sheffield Stands at the entrance of the building for visitors to the site. All timbers used in constructing our timber-clad shelters and enclosures are responsibly sourced. Our innovative cycle storage has enabled the development to become one of Colchester's most sustainable PBSA schemes, achieving a BREEAM "Excellent" rating. This is a testament to our commitment to environmental responsibility and should make all stakeholders proud of the project's positive impact.

Berristow Lane is a commercial park that provides office and industrial space for businesses across several sectors and is at the heart of the South Normanton economy. To increase active commuting opportunities to the estate, our team was commissioned to deliver a premium bike shelter to meet the needs of the park's cyclists.Our SolutionAfter discussions with the client and their architects, a bespoke Amazon Eco Semi Vertical Cycle Shelter was identified as the optimal product for meeting their needs. The shelter was installed with our premium sapele timber, a dense and durable hardwood with a rich, reddish-brown colour; a laser-cut cycle motif was also added to the exterior to create a clearly identifiable parking space. The Upperbanks, Manchester scheme in Rochdale town is a 242-apartment and 146-room Hampton by Hilton hotel development located next to the Rochdale Riverside retail and leisure scheme, part of £400 million generation two centre initiative. Ruskin Square is an initiative to revamp a section of land between East Croydon railway station and the established town centre of Croydon in South London. This project is a part of the broader Croydon Vision 2020 rejuvenation plan.Croydon, recognised as the primary office district in South London, underwent significant reconstruction in the 1960s. However, a considerable portion of the office buildings constructed during that period now appear outdated, and the area appears to be run down. Croydon is already one of the UK's largest commercial hubs. The completion of Ruskin Square will take the area to a whole new level, with up to 1.25m sq ft of office space alongside up to 625 residential units, 100,000 sq ft of retail, cafes and restaurants and vibrant and attractive public spaces. Following the successful completion of Building 1 in 2016, we are pleased to announce that the Bike Storage Company has been contracted to consult on the bike storage solutions for Building 2, which was completed in 2023.

Essex Pedal Power is a community project focused on cycling access and inclusivity. The scheme provides free bikes to eligible applicants along with associated services including training and group activities. Piloting in coastal towns Clacton-on-Sea and Jaywick Sands, the project aims to connect residents with key local services while harnessing the health, wellbeing and social benefits of regular cycling.Parallel to the free bike element of the scheme, supporting infrastructure is vital to make cycling a viable and practical transport solution for participants and regular cyclists alike. Essex Pedal Power identified seven key public locations including the train station, library, community centres and schools as prime destinations for cycling journeys. The challenge was to provide high quality, cost effective cycle parking, and to publicise each site as cycle friendly. The answer came in the form of our Bike Ports; robust parking racks with eye-catching bike icon facias.Cyclehoop were commissioned to supply and install six Bike Ports and two Bikehangars. Custom orange powder coating and vinyl wrapping match the colour of the Essex Pedal Power branding and their distinctive orange bikes. The London Borough of Southwark is the latest local authority to receive a network of the UK’s most user-friendly bike hangar design - the FalcoPod. Falco manufactured, supplied and installed a total of 72 units with manual key access, four units with smart mobile app access and three cycle hubs with smart mobile app access across the borough.Falco is delighted to be working with the Greater London Council to roll-out their next phase of residential bike hangars. Staybridge Suite is located close to the main entrances to Terminals 1,2&3 of Heathrow Airport and now home to Helmsman Lockers. In 2016, we installed our new improved Bike Wheeling Ramp on the bridge across the River Lea at the bottom of Spring Hill at Springfield Park. This bridge sits exactly on the Hackney-Walthamstow border.It is a key thoroughfare for commuters on a daily basis, however, not everyone has such an easy job negotiating stairs particularly if you own a heavier bicycle with panniers or luggage.The challenge of this project was in the design of the bridge which was multi-level as well as curved. This problem was solved by the real ingenuity of the ramp which lay in its modular design. This comprised floor fixing brackets that adjust to the different angles of the slope. The flexible angle adjustment of the ramp allows installation into any pre-existing environment which is a big bonus when retrofitting cities with historical architecture.The Bike Wheeling Ramp has been specifically designed to improve bicycle access when travelling along multi-level routes, and allows to people who cycle to gently wheel their bike up or down without having to carry it or forcefully bump it along the stairs.This ramp also includes flip-up functionality allowing for easy cleaning underneath and preventing trapped rubbish or leaf litter building up. The length of the ramp can be ordered in made-to-measure sizes to ensure a truly bespoke solution.“As former project manager for the Wetlands to Wetlands route I am delighted to work with award-winning Cyclehoop on this initiative. Bath and North East Somerset Council is the latest local authority to receive a network of the UK’s most user-friendly bike hangar design - the FalcoPod. Falco manufactured, supplied and installed four units complete with both smart app electronic access and manual key access to three residential areas across the borough.The FalcoPods were installed this winter as part of a two-year trial to provide secure, on-street cycle parking facilities for residents who don’t have access to private cycle parking, such as a garage or shed. The bike hangars provide secure lockable storage for 24 bikes and are located across the north of Bath on New King Street, Sydney Buildings and Great Stanhope Street.Each mobile app bike hangar and mobile app cycle hub provides Southwark residents with quick and easy accessibility via the users smartphone.
