OVERVIEW

The Upperbanks, Manchester scheme in Rochdale town is a 242-apartment and 146-room Hampton by Hilton hotel development located next to the Rochdale Riverside retail and leisure scheme, part of £400 million generation two centre initiative. Our client recognised the need to promote eco-friendly commuting gaming for its employees. To facilitate this initiative, they sought to revamp their bike storage facilities to accommodate a growing number of cyclists while aligning with sustainability goals.


Project Overview:


The project involved installing two bespoke bike storage: the Amazon Eco Cycle Enclosure and the Amazon Eco Cycle Bin Store. These structures were designed and crafted to provide secure, weather-resistant bicycles, encouraging more employees to choose cycling as their preferred mode of transport.


Amazon Eco Cycle Enclosure:

  • Hot-dipped galvanised frame for durability (BS EN ISO 1461:2009)
  • Fully clad in FSC-certified clear sealed softwood battens, ensuring sustainability
  • Strengthened sheet metal roof with guttering and downpipes
  • Inclusive of 60 Two Tier Racks for efficient space utilisation
  • Double swing gates for control access
  • BREEAM compliant and proudly Made in Britain


Amazon Eco Cycle Bin Storage

  • Crafted with a similar durable construction as the Cycle Enclosure
  • Fully clad in FSC-certified softwood battens
  • Includes swing gates and strengthened sheet metal roof with guttering
  • BREEAM compliant and Made in Britain


Additional Enhancements:

  • Sedum Roofing: Upgrading structural elements with a complete sedum roof system for enhanced sustainability.
  • Premium Timber Cladding: Upgraded to premium hardwood Sapele timber battens for aesthetic appeal and longevity.
  • EasyGrip Handles: Soft-touch handles for easy use of upper-level channels, promoting user convenience.
  • Individual Lower Channels: Dedicated lower channels for each cycle space, offering improved organisation and accessibility.
  • Gatemaster Codelock: Heavy-duty mechanical codelock for added security.
