Waltham Forest - Cargo Bikes for Business

Falco is delighted to be partnering with the London Borough of Waltham Forest on its public cargo bike hire scheme ‘Cargo Bikes for Business’. The scheme which is designed to support local businesses in supplying and delivering goods uses cargo bikes housed in FalcoSmart App-operated FalcoPod-Cargo bike hangars.

Two  FalcoPod-Cargo bike hangars have been delivered to locations on Orford Road Walthamstow and the High Road in Leytonstone, where they will be available for use by local businesses. The shape of the FalcoPod bike hangar (55% more internal space than similar ‘bread-bin type hangars) is ideally suited to storing not only cargo bikes, but also bikes with rear child seats and front baskets.

The scheme is part of Waltham Forest’s ‘Air Quality Action Plan’ is closely allied to the Mayors’ Transport Strategy and one of the aims is to promote an integrated transport network to encourage freight and travel movements by means that cause least damage to the environment. As a result cargo bike schemes are growing in a number of local authorities keen to support their residential and business populations.

The LBWF scheme has free membership and is available for local businesses to book via email through the LBWF cycling team at cycling@walthamforest.gov.uk. Falco has also recently completed the UK’s first two public hire schemes for cargo bike storage for; Beryl Bikes in Hackney and Climate Action Ilkley.
