Application

Suitable in applications such as:

  • Rooftop plant room enclosures.
  • Air intake louvres for HVAC and ventilation systems.
  • Industrial and commercial buildings needing both airflow and rain defence.
  • Architectural facades requiring concealed or integrated drainage.

Description

Colt 2UL is a versatile double‑bank louvre system offering a balance of enhanced rain defence and strong airflow performance. Available in shallow (50 mm) or deep (100 mm) blade pitches, it’s suitable for plant room screening and architectural facades. It features concealed drainage via hollow mullions and a clip‑on design for thermal movement, it delivers durable, maintenance‑free performance in challenging weather conditions.

Features and benefits:

  • Double‑bank blade design boosts rain defence while maintaining airflow.
  • Available in 50 mm or 100 mm blade pitch for design flexibility.
  • Integral drainage into vertical mullions improves weather resilience.
  • Clip‑on blade construction accommodates thermal movement, simplifies install.
  • Corrosion‑resistant aluminium, galvanized steel, or stainless materials.
  • Supports architectural integration with accessories like guards and panels.

Performance ratings:

  • Rain defence classification: Class A to Class D depending on air velocity (tested to BS EN 13030:2001).
  • Aerodynamic classification: Class 3 (Cv approx. 0.21).
  • Airflow resistance: Low to moderate resistance with enhanced weather protection.
  • Free area: 57% (varies by size and pitch) using industry standard measurement.

Materials and finishes:

  • Materials:
    • Aluminium (standard – corrosion-resistant).
    • Mild or galvanized steel or stainless steel (custom options).
  • Finish iptions:.
    • Mill finish.
    • Polyester powder-coated to standard RAL colours.
    • Anodized aluminium.
    • Pre-coated steel to match cladding.

Design and construction:

  • Blade type: Double-bank roll-formed blades.
  • Blade pitch:
    • 50 mm (shallow).
    • 100 mm (deep).
  • Blade profile: Chevron or aerofoil profile.
  • Drainage system: Integrated into hollow mullions for effective rainwater removal.
  • Free area: Typically 57% depending on configuration (varies by size and pitch) using industry standard measurement.
  • Mounting options: Surface-mounted, recessed, or integrated into cladding.
  • Panel sizes: Modular – customisable to suit building design.
  • Panel depth: 143 mm shallow and 198 mm deep, not including cill projection.

Accessories and options:

  • Bird guards (galvanized or stainless steel mesh).
  • Insect mesh and/ or fly guard.
  • Blanking or insulated panels.
  • Acoustic modules available.
  • Doors, turrets, and support structures for larger applications.

Installation and maintenance:

  • Supplied pre-assembled or in kit form.
  • Designed for fast installation with concealed fixings.
  • Clip-on blade system accommodates thermal movement.
  • Low maintenance – periodic cleaning recommended to remove debris.

Testing and compliance:

  • Tested to BS EN 13030:2001 & HEVAC 4th Edition (Test conditions: 13 m/s wind, 75 mm/hr simulated rainfall) and manufactured under ISO 9001.
  • Simulated conditions: 13 m/s wind, 75 mm/h rainfall.
  • Aerodynamic classification: Cv Class 2 (approximatley 0.308 inlet/ 0.285 exhaust).
  • Rain defence classification:
    • Class A at ≤0.5 m/s inlet velocity.
    • Class B at 1.0 m/s.
    • Class C above 1.5 m/s.
